  1. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I have yet to experiment more with the 80hz setting. I currently have the crossover at 50 hz and to me, that sounds very good. The times I've set the crossover at 80Hz, I didn't really like the bass that was being produced. I felt as if the sub was getting too much info and as a result didn't produced as much clean bass as I get when I set it at 50. It may just be a personal preference. I'll have to keep experimenting with the settings and see what results I like best.
  2. Thanks guys. I have heard that 80hz is the standard, but I was just wondering if that came into play when considering the low end capabilities of your speakers. I'll experiment with those suggested settings and we'll see from there. Thanks again for your input.
  3. I'd like to know what would be the best set up for my Icon W speakers. I have a pair of WF-35's, WC-24, a pair of XB-10's and the XW-500d sub. My main concern is bass management. Ideally, based on the WF-35's frequency response, I would set the crossover at 50Hz and set all speakers to small. I have not tried these settings, but would those settings yield the best integration between the speakers? Any suggestion on that? Also, should I adjust the LPF on the sub to say, 50Hz-- or just turn it off and let the receiver do the job? In the end, I'll just go with what sounds best to my ears, but I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for all the input guys! I guess I'll just stay away from 500d....unless someone tells me otherwise and can really convince me to get it... I guess I'll end up getting either the SVS PB 12- NSD or the HSU VTF-3 MK3. The RW 12d is on my radar too...I'm pretty sure it'll shake the foundation as my room isn't exactly huge. Decisions, decisions.... In the end, any of these subs should yield great results.
  5. Unfortunately, the ultra 13 is out of my range, however I'm considering the PB12- NSD, which is about the same price I can get the 500d for. It's a pretty big sub, but I guess I have to sacrifice that if I want to get that really deep, earth shaking bass. Thanks for the info. So has anyone heard the 500d? Any one recommend any other sub?
  6. Hello everyone! So as the title suggests, I have questions regarding the XW-500d sub. I want to get the 500d to match my Icon system (WF-35's, WC-24, and two Wb-14's) I haven't listened to the sub and I was wondering if any of you have? Some of the reasons I want to get this sub is because it can go pretty low (21hz) and it's relatively small, so it will def save some space. The sealed enclosure worries me because I feel like I won't get the same performance as I would with ported models. To my understanding a sealed enclosure is more appropriate for musical applications, which I often do, but I would like one that's great for both music and movies. I currently own a Sub 10 and while it's descent, I want one that will actually shake the foundation and go pretty deep. My answer: the 500d. But will this sub be able to shake the foundation like say, the sub 12? I use my system slightly more for movies and would love to feel all those LFE! So again, would the 500d be up for the job? Or any other Klipsch sub? Other subs I'm considering are the Definitive Tech Supercure I or a Paradigm sub. Any feedback would be appreciated it. Thanks
  7. I've listened to both the 450 and the Sub 12. The sub 12 is undoubtedly a phenomenal sub. I've tried the 450 at best buy and i was quite impressed by it. It really delivered. However, it does not go as low as the 12 does and can't shake the foundation like the mighty 12 can. I was actually going to get the 450, but was a little hesitant with the price. So I just got it's predecessor (the sub 10) as they're very similar and there's no significant difference. Of course being a newer sub, the 450 did have a slight oomph over the sub 10. But like I said, nothing significant. So my suggestion to you, is get the sub 12! It's def better for movies as it goes lower and plays those LFE found on dvd's and bluray's that'll shake your room effectively. I'd say the Sub 10 and 450 are more musical subs....they're still great for movies, don't get me wrong, but fall kinda short when compared to the sub 12.
  8. So I've tried the recommended settings and I still don't get that deep, clean bass that I get from my current set up. The only thing that I can think of that affects the performance is the room size or the sub placement. My room is relatively small, 11X12? or so. Would that have to do anything with the inability of the recommended settings to yield the best results? Also, my sub is placed in the right corner so maybe if I move it to the left and keep the recommended settings the sound would be finer. Any stance on that?
  9. Thanks everyone! I'll experiment with all those settings.
  10. ^ Thanks for the feedback. I will try the settings you recommend and see how it turns out. So after many attempts of trying to yield the best results, I finally found one that satisfied my ears. What I did was set the crossover on the sub all the way down 40hz and 80hz on the receiver. After I made those settings, the bass was tight and clean and the satellites where better integrated. I don't know if those settings are recommended, but they seemed to work for me. Now as far as the volume (gain) of the sub goes, should I control that in the receiver or the sub?
  11. Hello everyone, I created a home theater set up that consists of the Pioneer VSX-819H, the Klipsch Quintet III, and the Klipsch Sub-10, however I wasn't satisfied with the results (particularly the sub). I used the Auto Calibration feature to calibrate the speakers and sub for optimal performance, but like I said I wasn't satisfied. First of all, the sub sounded "boomy/muddy" and so I thought something must be wrong with the settings or the sub placement (I have it in a corner). I have all the speakers set to small, and the crossover to 100. Is there a way to make it better? Maybe change some settings here and there? When I perform the auto calibration, should I set specific settings on the sub? Like setting the crossover to a specific frequency or setting the gain level or should that be set in the receiver?, How about the phase? . Also, in the receiver's channel level, the options for the sub are -15db to 15db. What would be the best setting for that? Up to this point, I don't know how to go about getting the best set up since there's so many factors involved that affect the performance. I would really appreciate all the feedback. Thank you all.
  12. Sorry, not sure what you're trying to say. Like I said I don't really have a good understanding of those connections. Anyway, I don't think it will work.
  13. I never really understood the High Level in and out connections of the sub. Wouldn't those work?
  14. Ok, this might be a stupid idea, but I was wondering if it would be possible to connect the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers to the Sub-10? Would it even work?
