  1. Rennoc, that looks sick bro! Okay so I'm loving the cable management, mahogany veneer on the KLF's, and that's some nice Mac gear. Looks good man. Yeah I can't wait to move into our own place as well, gotta get that man cave =)

Thanks cviper! I love my Mac setup! It's a huge improvement over the old Yamaha! The cables don't really show as much in person vs the pic!

  2. Would be glad to. :) What do you use? I have a Nikon D90

I am using a d7000, it really is an awesome machine! The flash I just got does have a few different diffusers that came with it. I have a basic understanding of bouncing the light, if I had more time I'm sure I would of gotten a better picture. It's just a learning curve!:)

  3. Thanks Mike, I think its the best I can do in this house. I can't wait until we move into our own house!

I need to play around with this camera more, maybe we can meet up one day and you can give me a crash course in dslr's? I think I have the basics, but that's not saying much when I don't know what half the settings do!

  4. Still need to pick up some 3D glasses myself. Watched the Dark Knight Rises last night, amazing picture, and sound, and just a great movie all around.

Thats why when I got this unit from Best Buy, I haggled them into tossing in 4 of the 3D glasses by Panasonic for $45 each! The best way to negotiate prices is when you buy everything at once!

I must say I love this TV! First, the blacks are just that, BLACK! The top and bottom bars when watching Blu-Rays are as black as the trim, (no flashlighting as well) it is amazing. I can not see any motion blurs with this TV, and the whites are amazing as well. I just love the pq with this TV, and will never recommend a LED over a Plasma again[Y]

Just watched the new batman movie , Dark Knight Rises last night as well and just love this movie. I forgot how great this movie really is, the sound quality, oh man when the brass sections come on, wow! And the picture is really amazing, especially when the parts in imax are filmed.

  5. Well just watched men in black 3, in 3d and it was awesome! The active shutters are an amazing improvement over the passive glasses, makes the picture clear. I haven't had much time with the tv yet, but plan on watching the new batman this weekend. Will get pics up soon!

  6. Damn chrome,

I just used the guys at cnets settings, I am sure its very close to what some guy would do in home (the guy who does this at cnet is isf cert), and its free and easy to do.

I used this link for my tv, and so far it looks great! Mind you my plasma is not broke in yet, but for free and how this guy does his testing I think its great!

  7. Rennoc good choice on TV my friend. You're gonna love the PQ on this set, it is just simply amazing! Just a heads up, if you are planning on getting your set calibrated, you have to have at least 300 viewing hours on it before a tech will calibrate it. I had a free calibration with my purchase from BB, and the ISF tech that came out said he didn't feel good calibrating it till it reach the 300 hour mark. This was a few weeks ago so I could get more hours on the screen. He's coming back Monday to finish the job. One thing I've learned about this set, the longer you watch it, the better the PQ gets. As the gases in the screen start to settle, I've notice the colors becoming richer, and the image getting sharper. Once again enjoy your purchase, make sure to take some pictures when you get it all setup!

Well its done and should be here on weds! I got a killer deal on it and 4 glasses to boot! I just saw that I can have the geeks come out for free and do a calibration, since I am a silver level member at Best Buy!

    Will be posting pics soon!

  8. Oh boy! Um.....in my opinion, I think you are going to be disappointed. I think since you have such awesome speakers, you need to go with components (pre/pro/amps/etc). I just went to an all McIntosh setup from my old Yamaha and there is no comparison, period. You get what you pay for. That being said, this AVR could be a good start for now, and then at some later time buy an 5 or 7 channel amp down the road when money permits. I think you can do better, but then again that's my opinion, and its just like a-holes, everybody has one! :)

  9. I've got HDMI from the PVR to the TV (for picture and sound), and fibre optic cable (for audio only) from the PVR to the receiver. The receiver can play sound from the PVR even when the TV is not switched on, and the TV speakers work normally, so I can listen to them when not using the sound system.. I just leave them turned all the way down when the sound system is on.

As for YouTube listening, I had to run a separate fibre optic cable from the TV to the receiver, since my 2005 model receiver has no HDMI inputs, just RCA and optical.

Nice! On the PS3 it can not send audio out both cables, either one or the other :(. Also my pre does not have HDMI inputs, which when I picked it up was not a big deal.

  10. Look in your TV's audio menu to see if you can turn the TV speakers on and off. Most TV's have to be manually switched when they recognize an audio out connection. It may make a difference if you change the signal path but it's really up to you if it sounds better....Try it!!....Yes

I do not think it will sound better by any means, its just another connection (resistance) in the signal. I just hope that when I do use that way, that I can still somehow turn on/off the TV speakers. Will try and see!

  11. On a connection setup question, I see that there is an digital audio output I could use to send the signal to my pre. Currently I have it setup as to where the PS3 has the audio sent out to the digital out, that goes to the pre. Now that leaves the HDMI with just the video, and also leaves the TV with no audio. It would be nice to have the TV play the sound at times when I don't want to use my pre. So would the sound quality be affected by not using the direct way I have been, by way of using the TV's digital out to the pre, or should I just keep it from the PS3 to the pre?
