  1. These things look amazing in other wood colors, i got the boring black but they are still sweet. I need to get a upa5
  2. They are not klipsch. BTW so far i like my klipsch better than these. But only because the klipsch are so efficient. These are 4 ohms (cant use them with my new receiver) and 200watts rms
  3. Yeah that is the whole point of getting a receiver with analog outs. The blu-ray player has to be able to completely decode and send all 4 new high def codecs. You are getting the best sound you can just like with the newest receivers minus a few tinkering options i believe. By the way guy i just got new speakers (not klipsch []) might post them here or start a new thread!
  4. Haha i know i love a heavy receiver. Your best bet on a blu-ray player is the oppo bdp 83. Unfortunately i think those cannot be had for less than $450. I just bought the samsung bd-p2500 on ebay. Like i said i will sell it to you at the cost i paid and will test it out on my parents tv first to make sure it works great. I will sell it to you for $99 shipped. Also the sony bdp-s550 has analog out. There is a thread on the AVS forums with a list of all the blu-ray players and whether they decode and send hd audio through analog outputs.
  5. Wow great find on the heresys. You should post some pics of your setup. I dont believe that receiver has hdmi. Go to www.monoprice.com for all your wire needs (no affiliation) maybe pick up a optical to hook your tv to your receiver. If the cd changer has a digital coaxal or optical also use that. With all this being said your system could benefit from two things: adding a subwoofer, getting a more powerful receiver, those heresys can handle alot. Good luck and go listen to some music
  6. Good choice on the denon. Alot of people compared that to the receiver i got and alot of people preferred the denon for the little bit of extra power it has. Yes you need a blu-ray player with Analog outputs, be careful though it has to completely decode and send all the HD audio formats through the analog. Then you would connect those outputs to your EXT IN like you said. If you are looking for a blu-ray player with analog outputs i could hook you up, i just bought one from ebay and realized i am not going to be ready to purchase my next huge tv for a few months (just sold my 52'' sony lcd).
  7. What blu-ray player are you using with your analogs by the way?
  8. Your integra will not let you raise or lower the DB on seperate speakers? That is strange integra is a good brand.
  9. Well i did not try that wire that came with it for the antenna, the speaker wire i use works good though. It is the vsx-45tx. I think it is an amazing receiver, i am a pioneer receiver fan for life now i think. I have my setup in my bedroom (which is medium sized but a small room). It has alot of power but of course like any good audio enthusiast i wonder what 130w sounds like. The remote is Awesome! I love how it uses 4 AA and then sucks all the battery up by having every button backlit red and with an orange lcd display. I just picked up a blu-ray player with analog outputs for $90 so my budget HT is coming along nicely...wait i dont have a tv right now[:S]
  10. haha....well i got a order from monoprice on the way.
  11. yeah i will put up a picture later tonight. I read that yours is the same as mine just debadged.
  12. It should sound good at lower levels but it will start to distort or not deliver a clean sound at higher levels. In some cases distortion at higher levels can damage your speakers
  13. You would most likely see a good difference in upgrading your receiver. That one does not look particularily good and believe me it cannot deliver a true 140w of clean power. Check out harmon kardon, denon, onkyo, pioneer, marantz, Nad, Integra .
  14. such a hard decision. If you do not live in a apartment i would do the sub.
  15. Strike another win up for ThaChad. Ive always thought the sub12 was a great value if you got a good price on one. Really deep bass compared to my 2 velodynes
  16. i am a michigander too. This listing in sterling hights has alot of the speakers you are looking for. http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/ele/1578254902.html If it is a close enough drive i would offer $400 and maybe go a little higher if he doesnt accept. Not my first choice in speakers though
  17. I would intially buy 5 speakers and you can use two of your bose for the rear surround until your budget allows for the last 2 speakers. What city are you located in?
  18. IMHO get the klipsch reference series speakers or check out polk if you are on a tight budget. That is a nice receiver you should take advantage of it. Believe me the extra you pay for reference is worth it, you will never want to part with them
  19. What really worried me is that since it was an older receiver something was or would crap out on me (i actually bought this without testing it, met up with a guy halfway). Well after seeing the condition of it my fear of it breaking down has disappeared (although obviously it still may). I would buy another one in a heartbeat and am going to keep my eye out for a really nice older denon. The sony i had weighed 50 lbs and it did have power, it just did not produce sound like this receiver does. I am currently in a home theater transitional period but this receiver + rf-82 + 2 subs is BLISS. Grr now i have to make a $50 monoprice order.
  20. Omg so after listening for about 15 minutes i am all of a sudden stunned by the new sound coming out of my speakers. I was seriously considering in the future switching over to a different speaker to get away from klipsch horn technology. I can say now that my speakers are no longer harsh. The sound is so good through the pioneer!!! Leaps and bounds better than what i had going before. I listen to music from a mp3 player, are there better sources out there for music or is a mp3 that is a good rip good? Yes i didnt even wipe the receiver down for that pic, it is perfect!! i am so happy right now. Also the remote is really friggin cool with all the buttons orange backlit and a small lcd screen at the top, it is a little confusing though Lots of buttons.
  21. Had to bring in a different stand , not a whole lot of room for ventilation and the receiver gets warm, hmm might move it right now lol. Anyways gotta have the panther keeping watch.
