  1. I was using the 390HF. I went with 28" wide. I had to bear hug thesub to get it in my house. But mine was also the Lp(tall) version. I only had the my Crest Pro 7200 for the amp. So I used a channel off of that. Yes the quote was for the TH from Danley. I was only curious about the monster ones and the smallest being a pair of TH-50. I looked at the DBH218 and TH221. The DBH218LC came out so I would chose that one before the regular DBH218. Most of DSL TH are large so I couldn't see many of them fitting anywhere small. Although a member from this forum used a DTS20 in his entertainment center and it was out of sight. Great install. I will look at my email and find the quote for the shipping. Most of the subs from DSL could fit a pair on a pallet. And now I have been told that the quote if for 3 pallets delivered to Adelaide. But 4400 for shipping is crazy!!!
  2. Do you have any links of your ideas? My wife hates the look of the huge horn. I thought about trying to see if I could make a way to make them look better but not sure other than transparent versions.
  3. WOW.....I dont know what type of charges are involved but I just got a quote for shipping and custom fees and I dont like the looks of it. I once had a chat with Danley Sound Labs about one of the monster subs and the highest quote I got was around $1200 for a extremely heavy pair of subs. Now after seeing the quite fir something that weighs similar I am looking at 3x's the price for shipping. IS that because I am a normal retail customer and not a company? I have always bought things from the USA and had them shipped here but that is crazy pricing for a pair of speakers. I could have my truck from back home, Klipsch speakers and anything else to fill the container for the same price they quoted me.
  4. Is a preamp even needed after using the Oppo? I didn't realize what all the dvd player could do. WOW That will definitely be on my next purchase list. Does the Oppo have volume control? Wow Oppo to amps(with passive Xovers) thats awesome. WHat concerns do you have for the THT? I had one before and was amazed at what it could do with so little amount of watts. Walls weren't happy, and later I found out out that the drywall seems were coming apart. But when I thought the THT couldn't take any more power or I would break something I wasonly using 28 watts. My house was shaking alot from that.
  5. Well I still have to build my room for the 942/Jubs because anything above 1 watt is going to finish off the walls. I have some SLA's and a THT Lp before and I never noticed that I was slowly shaking the drywall seems apart. I also had a dual opposed sealed sono sub for a while and I am sure that helped shake the seem apart also. SO I will have to look again at the other Pass amps but I still have some other things to pay for. I think the Aleph 1 I will just try and build myslef for now. That mp is capable of 300@4ohms and 600 at 2ohms. Someday I will be able to purchase my perfect setup or atleast almost but I will have to build the room first before to many expensive things are purchased. Do you have an AVR for decoding or no? And where are you buying your Furman products from? I couldn't find the products you were refuring to to look at price. I found the electricroom website but they didn't have anything you mentioned. I was going to sell my Crest Pro7200 to help aid some of my parts for my amp build but I was amazed at the Zero turn out on Ebay:(
  6. Rodrocket that is quite the setup you have. I think I will stick with the plan of just having the pair of speakers and no center channel for now. I will have to wait on the Pass Lab amps but I can always build a F5 which is about 40 wattsI believe. Then when I get more funds I will try and stepup to a Pass Labs .5 series or aElectrocompanient AW250R LOL. Might have to get a similar crossover. It sounds like the setup is much more versatile. ANd I am wondering how the noise floor is going to be with these all revealing horn speakers.
  7. Thanks. I was thinking along those lines of not using the 402 by itself. My reason was just because it would save me some money and I could just us the L/R for the center. PLUS the size of the room makes it also difficult. I think for now until I can get the funds for the speakers I am going to have to build some amps. I just need to figure out which one to build. Chip amp or other. I liked what rod rocket did and got the 350.5 pass amps but that wont be happening with me. Maybe a PASS 150, but then I could always try and build a sort of similar pass amp from the pass DIY community. Man this hobby is expensive. LOL
  8. Does anyone think it would be a problem with having a 402 by itself for the center channel? AFter trying to configure my HT room idea it seems there is no way I can fit three bass bins and my pair of subs on a 12ft wall. I could use two bass bins and both subs but would have to just have a 402 on top of the subs. I think it would sound fine but figured I would ask. I could also just not have the center channel and let the L/R speaker provide center duties like Coytee which would be cheaper and maybe better for me until I get a bigger room. I winder how quickly the room would fall apart anyways. LOL
  9. Thanks Coytee that helps alot. For me the L/R (Jub/942-4) would be going into a 12ft wide room. SO just big enough for them. I was thinking of a AT screen for in front of the L/R and two sealed subs but then forgot I wont have much room for the center. 24" cube x 2 subs and 80" for the two bass bins. SO not enough to squeeze another bass bin in there. unless its above 24" The distance I would be sitting would be closer to 10ft margin. I figure I will buy these things once and eventually get a bigger room for them. I responded on Rodrockets thread to try and learn more about his costs and other stuff but he has been busy I guess. no worries. My sink drains counter clock wise. I am from the USA but have been living here for 3 years now. I dont remeber what the drain did back home. I have about 4 different reasons to go to Sydney now and now there is another one. Most people's builds of HT rooms are mainly members from Sydney. I am from Adelaide which is about 16/17 hours away. PLUS I have 4 children and a wife so everything for me is very slow. I miss my old K2's. I used to have a EAW setup for fun which had dual 15 mains and dual 18 subs just for my shed which was 55 x 25ft x 20ft. That used to have your pants flap easily and I only had a K2 and a K1 for the amps. Now I just want something similar for my HT experience. I cant go by memory because I used to think my old subs were the bomb.(M&K 150's) Then I got a pair of Paradigm Servo 15's. WOW. THEN DIY. Now those subs are way in the past and not even close to what I have built sound wise. My subs will be able to keep up just fine with whatever I choose but just wanted to make sure that I can sit close enough to them that I would still hear one source. And now that seems likely. Are your Jubs angled or straight? I think mine would have to be straight because of wanting a AT screen and 2ft false wall. Does the 942-4 dig a little deeper than the jub? -10 @ 26hz And do you need a Hpas on any of these bass bins, 942-4 or Jub, in a home environment? Seems like these bad boys would be intended for bigger rooms/cinemas and using them at home you would never be able to push them enough to worry. Just what I am thinking. Is there a place or site that shows what Klipsch recommends for subs to go with bass bins like these? Seems like the onlu sub they have that would do anything would be the KPT-884. My subs wont be that big in external size but it was the only sub from Klipsch that could go lower than the bass bin. Then again maybe a sub is not needed for bass bins like these. [] Man this is exciting just thinking about it. I need to hurry up and get my coins saved.
  10. Thanks Coytee. I think its your website,myjubs.com, that has me wanting the bigger style of pro cinema speakers. That and I only want to buy once. How far apart do the 942-4'z need to be away from one another? Or maybe how far apart should the 402's be away from one another for L/R/C seperation? And how close can you sit to the 942-4 or jubilee and still feel like your hearing one speaker verse two or 4 different noises?
  11. So did you decide on anything as of yet?
  12. Thanks for that Dandoyen. I wonder how his bass response was from seat to seat with just one sub? I thought he would have used 2 L/R. Does anyone know at the angle those Jubs are in how far do they come out and what width are they taking up L to R? That sub is HUGE!! Reminds me of my old THT Lp
  13. I look forward to your build. I have the Jamboree plans also and just haven't built them yet. I was going to try and build the Khorns but after seeing so many complex angles I decided to hold off. After I reread the Myjubs website I really wanted to build some jubs and then realized I still had the Jamboree plans from a while ago. SO hopefully for you wood is cheaper than it is for me because I saw that it was going to cost me about 900 for the pair of Jamboree's to be built. But that is all 18mm so hopefully it will be cheaper for you and your Khorn thread will start having to pictures to gawk at.[]
  14. After figuring how much room I will have in the planned HT I would have wall to wall of speakers. The center would have to be a LS bass bin with a 402 on top. Not sure how that would sound but as long as the sound/timbre is the same or close then it should be fine.
  15. Thanks DrWho. When only needing 100-150 what are most using for amps? I could get that amount from a simple 2 channel proaudio amp, like a QSC DCA amp or other. I could use an AVR with its internal power but couldn't biamp I dont think. And I know many horn lovers have used tubes, class A/AB/B and others for higher quality power. SO didn't know if one seemed better than theother or not. I plan to slowly collect everything I will need for my HT room. The QSC DCA's seemed nice and had the lowest THD of their amps, I think. And others are saying that some dont like Class D amps for whatever reason. I thought if building my own monoblocks but sometimes that costs more than what I can buy one for. Just trying to have the best I can get within my budget. That 415 .....is very tempting. After getting the quote from the local dealer here the 415 is definitely cheaper. But at times I wouldn't mind just building something like this. Funny thing is when I asked my wifey and son about which speaker they like better, look wise, they both liked the 942-4. LOL The Krix factory is down the road from me and amazing enough if I ordered a bass bin from them with four 15's it would cost me more than the completed pair of 942-4 from Klipsch with the 402's and the Krix's bins are made out of MDF. I would assume the bass bins from Klipsch are made out of 3/4 BB or something like that.
  16. SO what amps are people using with their bass bins? I saw a few members use the Crown D45 for the 402 which I would assume is enough for HT and music but dont know the 402's exact sensitivity. Seems like my max wattage would be 150 watts for the bass bin and 25 or so watts for the highs would be nice. I think.
  17. Which 15's are used in the 535? Are they the same as in the 942-4? K-33E I get a bit confused with all the different model numbers. Just need to start getting a recipe together and see what happens next. What amount of wattage is everyone using for the 402?
  18. I love to have shock and awe in my HT experience but never thought of ever having more than a few twelves or 15's per speaker. But having four 15's in the left and right would be ...........maybe overkill for me. Or maybe perfect for me. Dont know until you hear it. How low does the 402 like to be crossed over?
  19. WOW I could have sworn that the 402 was around 2500. Man I dont know where I have been. I guess I need to start at least saving for the 402 .Wait did you mean around 1K for one? I think I would go with the Behringer DCX until I could build a ALK design or something that is worthy of such a speaker. I cant remember who had the huge passive arts of work on his wall but those were awesome. I think he had all jubilee's for 5 channels or maybe not. SO many speakers and so many users here I get confused. What kind of power is everyonbe putting to the bass bin? 100 watts? I guess if I do go down this route I am going to have to take my sweet time and build some amps. Pass clone, 3886 or something. I know if I had the Jubs in my room now I would not have any room for my subs. I could probably live with that but I just hate waiting for things. And for me everything takes years.
  20. Wow I never realized the Jub would do THAT much more bass. I have always liked horns but they do get quite large at times. Which for me is not a good thing because I have limited space. I plan on building a dedicated HT room but that will be about 3 years from now. That being said if I build another speaker for the L/R it will be what goes into the dedictaed room. No more building something to get by. I have done that too many times and that is not very cost effective. Cant believe the 942-4 it takes to keep up. I know horns are efficient and all but its still amazing to read that it would take something like that to keep up or compare. WOW. What are the 12's used in the Jubilee? What is the going price for the 510 vs 402? I know things are different when I add in the shipping but I figured I could get a ball park idea again to clarify. And how are people connecting these Jubilee's with common HT AVR's?
  21. I am not fortunate enough to have heard many of the speakers I have dreamed of in the Klipsch. I have learned to be a DIY guy in speakers because I cant afford them at retail. SO I have aquired a few plans over the years for some builds but have never gotten around to building them because of their size(Jamboree). That being said I have always wondered about the big difference's between the KPT-904 and Jubilee differences from those who have heard them. I know the 904 would have plenty of tactful bass for my wants but thats only because I have heard similar ported cabinets designs and know I would be happy. But the Jub I haven't a clue. I know the 510, I think its called, vs 402 is a big difference but I am not sure I could afford the 402. And frankly the wifey would rather have 510. Well she would rather I have a small pair of Bose speakers but thats another storey. So that being said what are peoples opinions on the big differences between these models other than their shapes and sizes? Thanks for any ones opinions and sorry if I made any spelling errors.
  22. Just so I understand.....areyou saying the Jub cost roughly 4000.....is that Each? so 8000 for the pair? I have many more questions but will just wait to hear back from you first. Either way.....awesome to see someone here have a pair. Holy cow.....WOW.....I remember looking awhile back and wondering what it would cot to get a 402 here and just stopped looking after guestimating shipping and price of units. But that being said your combo with the 402's to me sounds like a pretty darn good deal. Wow maybe my dreams are so far away. STill a year or so but I was thinking a LOT more money. I looked at building a Jamboree but with adding the highs the cost just adds up. SO if I cant build something that cost atleast 50% or under I dont mind buying the original. Awesome. What were the external dimensions of your 402 boxes? ANd how much did they weigh? I am curious if I can squeeze a pair or 3 total.
  23. Nice room and setup. I thought it was a pic from a hifi store when I first saw it.
  24. Sorry I meant are the 904's your Rock and Roll setup? I thought of building something very similar. I just didn't know which room was your living room to know which you considered your Hifi sound and your R&R setup.
  25. Which onesetup is your 924s? I figured your rock and roll was the 924 setup no?
