  1. Why i want to change, it came with euro transformer and i have to purchase an adaptor, for north america plug! Also, the cell phone type transformer provided with the converter gave me the idea, that i could maybe find better. I search and found a better build transfo, in my hardware, but i was afraid to destroy something usiing it passing the 2A to 600mA?

On the back of converter, it is said 7-11 volt, no mention of the "A" requirement?

So a custum transfo, will be my future DIY project for this HIFace converter

  2. i just wonder if klipsch follows the social media as well...twitter etc.

Of course we do, and it's disappointing (to me) that most people are being so judgmental with knee-jerk reactions before hearing any facts. There has been no further statement beyond the Audiovox release simply because the deal is not done. Any further comment would be premature.

Details will be revealed as deemed appropriate and relevant.

    Thanks all for your patience!

Call it a Total "a klipsch" of the heart! [;)]

  3. these have been out for almost 20 years. As long as your amp has a B+ voltage of less than 520 volts, you are good to go. it will cut your power quite a bit, and in the guitar world, some folks want to have their amps distortion break up with out the volume levels. So if you are running 60 , 100, 120 watt amps, and want it to behave pounded soooner, you put these in and drop yuor power to 20 watts. A lot of amps are over 520 volts, so you should check this, also, once you start pulling tubes, and running yellow jackets, since there's less load, you voltage will probally go up higher than what you thought it was. if your looking to distort your amp sooner, you could also start strapping large power resistors which will soak a lot of power. the resistor approach is a lot cheaper.

So on my primaluna prologue, it should decrease my power alot, i find the prima to powerfull for the laScala? am i correct with this interpretation?

  4. Salut Tapajeurs, (pourquoi le "s" à la fin ?)

i guess, you mean the "s" in Tapajeurs, well it is we are so many listening music in my head!

for others, Tapajeurs is sort of Horn noise language for a kid character in a kid program, back in those days

His phrase where a sort of squeaking trompette and sax play as word. So since laScala are horn speakers, seems a good nick!!

poueettte, poueette, frraaattt, pouet fraananan, taaratttam pouette pouet! [;)]

  5. Salut Tapajeurs, (pourquoi le "s" à la fin ?)

I have never heard the Belle, but (no offense to Belle owners) I see it as a compromised La Scala to get a better form factor. It has a shorter mid-horn and higher rolloff of the bass bin. Your next step up is the Klipschorn if you have to proper room dimensions, or the JubScala if you want to go that way. That's assuming that you have at least refreshed the caps on your La Scala (if they are old). If not, start with that.

Yes caps, have been refresh, and i am ready for horn, but none available for now, so i saw a beautiful pair of Belle on "lespac" at 1500$cad (the price seem fair?).

    Out of subject

By the way, i missed the opportunity to see you last summer, i had to postpone my travel to Rimousky?

I will need your help to prepare my next travel in your area next time, if you agree to help me

  6. Good Day everyone,

I had refurbished my old altec 1960 receiver, it is playing great.

my problem is knobs, i am searching a place where i could purchases vintage knobs or golden knobs to replace the ones broken.

Does anyone have an adresse, where i could order some NOS knobs or modern knobs thats goes on an altec receiver that look alike fisher/scott amp?

thanks for any help you could provide!

  7. Correct, i am looking for the warm side of music, Jazz, folk and now discovering classical with you guys on "right this minute thread" that i read daily, and purchase music i saw there on itune!

And well for the vintage el84, i have found a pair of 1957 harman kardon prelude that need the capacitor to be replaced, and since, it is almost a year and didn't find time, so i put the project on hold!

Last week, i almost purchased a fisher receiver 500, but seller was honest and tell me it need cap upgraded(i am already there with my HK, so i decided to past). Now i havve stop looking for vintage and decided to go new for some quicksilver amp (horn maybe) with their quiet low power and tought about a croft preamp or the quicksilver, but already got a juicy tercel phono with peach upgrade that i wouldn't change for nothing, so that's my story... Primaluna is great amp, but this modern version of marantz 8 amp, is to powerfull for laScala.

and also correct, the good first watt, is all i need with laScala and almaro seem's ok, but i am looking for a final step in upgrading my thing (i know it will make some smiles here!). Prima was a between choice that i live to long with, maybe if i have b&w speaker or some king of monster guzzling speaker i had kept the prima, but my goal is to keep the laScala.

  8. Good evening all,

anyone of you have quicksilver amp and preamp?

are they a good match with my laScala type a crossover?

any suggestion on witch quicksilver i should try, the horn version or the other?

please post impression and comment on this match?

i had a primaluna prologue one, that i want to replace, to powerfull for my laScala and i had try the prima luna with 6L6 or 6V6 or winged el34, still no fun from it? any clues?

the primaluna sound good with my tannoy or guzzler speaker, but with laScala to powerfull and cold sound? is it because of the autobias chip thing?

anyway any info you could provided, to help me upgraded, will be welcome!

i plan to sell back the prima luna prologue one with phono upgrade and 2 set of tube 999$ is it to much? the condition is mint?

    Thanks for your helps

    regards

    Tpjrs
