  1. ok top was removed yesterday, i was curious one wire was not correctly attach, i have corrected.

Also i have order new woofer from parts connection, was curious for the improvement.

Good way to improved my Belle, also discover that one of the klipsch driver has problem rending the upper sound, ok with the Bass, but sound more dull than the other one, anyway, i'll keep them in storage(the unused belle drivers) in case i want to sell back my Belle in 20years from now...

thanks for the help, how to get access to my Belle, those speaker are very very well build!

    Great american stuff, well Made

  2. The voltage that lights those 3 12AX7's is derived from the cathodes of the 4 output tubes. So the problem is not actually in those 3 12AX7's. For some reason those output tubes are not conducting. Because a tube is lighting does not mean its working what lights in a tube is the heater. The tube can not work without the heater lighting but being lit does not mean the tube is operational.

You can get the service manual here

     http://www.fisherconsoles.com/non%20console%20manuals/fisher%20x100-3%20sm.pdf

Oh wait I misspoke a bit. One of the 12AX7's could possibly be the problem if one has a heater winding that is shorted open. To check all 3 12AX7's plug them into the sockets where the two 12AX7's are now lighting and see if all 3 will light. If they light then the problem is elsewhere.

It could even be that for some reason the amplifier has no high voltage B+ present. But usually when something goes wrong with the high voltage B+ the amp will blow fuses.

Amp works great, for the last month, thank you all, it has a good sound, but not quite, as my old 1957 harman kardon. But impressing powerful with my Belle!

  3. Hi,

Just curious, since i have a lot of Cd, i transfer them in a huge aluminum case that contain around 800 cd's.

i use to put those heavy case on top of my Belle.

Recently, i put those cases down on the floor, and my Belle seems to bloom more sound whit nothing heavy on top of them?

Have you experience that, does this make sense?

    regards

    Tpjrs

  4. Is that ohm reading at the woofer directly? If not check all connections and wire going to woofer. If woofers match not sure what would cause bad reading unless the one with wrong reading is bad.

Reading at woofer is ok, than wire goes from woofer to one connection and than "spooky"  the others side wire goes from crossover and enter between to layer of plywood and like i wrote, i'll have to remove the top of the Belle to gain access, this is a huge job for little improvement.

If i have time this summer, i will, when i will varnish them and put some coating on. and maybe customize the color a bit.

  5. Ok found the hatch, it was open before, but, measurement on woofer is 3.9Ohms, but...

I took a 1.5volt and test it and it appear to be inverted, woofer was moving backward, older JBL were like that but i don't think klipsch were like that? am i right?

Also take again a measurement at the end of wire and the i could have is a 5.0Ohms, and to see that is the connection problem i will need to remove the top of the Belle completely, to see the other end of the crossover wire.

it is a klisch woofer and it is ok, the numbers is k3?2 and bellow 67-5630 or 67-8630?

So i have pin point the problem, will seal the hatch the best i can, and will listen the result.

    Thanks

    the quest is not over....

I forgot, is it the correct number, what type of woofer, i should have in the Belle?

  6. minor trouble, fuse cap, and pot gain, and check everything and balance everything.

and music is on, with the woofer (that i change polarity) since my battery type A test and sound loud, clear and finaly center.

i have a problem with the woofer wire who has a measure of 3.9ohms on woofer connector and 5.0ohms reading and the end of cable?

but i need to remove top of the Belle for that and to much work for now, sound is center and my new crossover had finesse to the result as the Bryston on spec!

So for now! Problem solved, but maybe in the fall i will go for the 15 or Crite woofer, just for fun to see if it had up more range!

  8. I would hold off on buying anything until you know for sure what the problem is.

Yes take photos of the units including the back labels, and the drivers so that we can read them.

On the LaScalas the grill need to come off, and you have to lay the speaker on it's front on the floor to get into the dog house, you might need a mirror and camera to take a picture of the back of the driver and you should also take pictures of woofer frame etc. Take pictures of all of your drivers and the crossovers so we can see them.

I think someone already suggested removing the wires from the bass driver and taking the Ohm reading again, check for dirty terminals.

Probably not a bad idea to check for a mouse hole in the cone when it's open.

You can buy a mechanics or heating and AC mechanics mirror on a telescoping wand for a few dollars, if one is now on the market with LED lights even better, you can photograph the mirror on macro or zoom with good to excellent results.

Scala was before, now I own a pair of Belle and then tend to sound left or more gain to left. i'll try to dig in, to find out, but connector good way to start. thanks

Bte, repair amp arrived today, so will have to change my setup, a good time to take measure again.

And no paper on the back of my Belle, so no serial number, but if like my Scala it could be punch in the wood somewhere?

  9. I think one woofer is wrong or you have a bad seal on woofer door. Also did you replace crossover parts and loosen and retighten all the connections? A few other possibilities are mice have nest in woofer mouth....The rubber O-Ring on mid driver needs replaced.

Did they sound even before you worked on crossovers?

What exactly did you do to crossovers ?

    Pictures would be helpful.

Bought a Crite crossover(did that in the pass, with Scala, loved it), and yes they we're unbalanced,

no matters the amp, i used. But Crite crossover, bring finesse in the sound.

    Maybe i should with that:

  10. So, tell us more.  What do the labels say about the units?

You bought a pair on the used market?

I trust you measured the resistance at the feed wires to the bass bin without the feed wires connected to the crossover.  Is that correct?

The woofer with the higher reading makes me suspect that a previous owner replaced a woofer driver with a non-Klipsch unit.

You can't tell for sure until you open the hatch on the bottom and look around.

    Post photos if you can.

    WMcD

Yes bought used market, a gift from my wife,

    measurement by the wire,

don't know how to open them yet. I have to find the hatch,

so far, from what i have read, it wouldn't hurt to upgraded them? am i correct?

  11. Actually, I suggest you start a new thread and label it something like "Belle Driver Ohm Readings HELP"!!

Copy over your post, to start the new thread.

I would also mention your new crossovers etc for background.

has suggested, new thread started, thanks

  12. Since Budo suggest, i should start a new thread, here it is

I have recently, updated my type AA, to a type A crossover in my Belle.

By the way, since one appear to be louder than the others, i have tough room treatment, but Bubo, suggest a step by step resolution.

first discovery, i had a gain problem on my Bryston, so i sent it to repair, great services, and cheap cost to have all check and tuned.

but when i change crossover, i took reading with ohmmeter (plus on plus and minus on minus)

    here's my reading:

    Tweeters both side 6.8 ohms

    Squawkers both side 10.9

Woofers left side 4.0 and right side 5.4? does this reading matters in a way that one speaker seems more prominent than the other?

The difference reading on woofer, is it significative to have impression that the sound is more left that right?

or this reading are in the spec and nothing to worry about for my Belle?

Also how i replace a woofer on Belle, how i get access?

And what are the best woofers, i should put in them, my guess, if i change one, i should change the other? am i right?

    regards

PS in the sunshine, one speaker is more rosewood color and the others more oak, my guest, i have purchased an unmatched pair of Belle? is it possible, that drivers are so different, from production to production?

    Any help, is welcome

  13. As far as the system balance being off, try switching the RCA cables on the back of the Emo inputs, then outputs to the amp, if that doesn't fix the problem, try switching the speaker cables to see if that works.

Be sure to put everything back after each step.

The is the box approach to trouble shooting, it will isolate the digital source, the DAC-preamp, the amp then the speakers one at a time.

When you identify the offending component tell us what you find.

Speculation is your amp is starting to fade on one channel but it is just a guess.

Ok an update, still not received my Bryston, but ordered type A crossover for my belle, great improvement, but, i took the time to check reading on tweeter squaker and woofer.

    this is my reading:

    Tweeters both side 6.8 ohms

    Squakers both side 10.9

Woofer left side 4.0 and right side 5.4?

The difference reading on woofer, is it significative to have impression that the sound is more left that right?

  14. Good Day,

i have a Dynaco st-70 back-up amp, but i learn this week, that my preamp tube are now discontinued.

    Any upgraded possible? 12ax7?

price for 7199 are skyrocketing? so i am searching alternative and if possible, better sound?

Also i have el34 Mullard, new stuff, will it sound better with 6ca7 big bottle E-Harmonix?

    regards

    Tpjrs

  15. Good Day All,

just bought in garage sale, a fisher kx-90 integrated amp, when i start the amp, all 4 el84 glow and only 2/5 12ax7 glow, but 3/5  12ax7 don't(starting from left side, facing the amp).

I search internet and found, that it was a fisher kit from 1965, but not able to find manual or schematic!

Anyone could help me? finding that?

from what i have read, it should be sounding great, but for now, only a huge hum, from it

    Best regards All
