  1. What DVD player would you purchase? I'm looking in the $400- $500 range. Also, can you record from another DVD with the new DVD recorders or just from TV? Thanks.
  2. Well I figured it out, and hopefully this will help others in the future. In order to get back to the from factory settings on the 3803, one must press in the "pure direct" and "zone 2" keys while unplugging and replugging the receiver. This however was probably not my problem b/c I found the on screen display while manually flipping through the TV/video button my TV. Of course I realized this only after returning to the factory settings and losing all of my stored data.
  3. I just got my new Denon AVR3803 set up. Initially I did have the on screen display, and at the end of the setup screen there is an option to lock your settings which I chose. Now that I want to go in and change these settings, I cannot. I hit the "system setup" key on the remote with the remote on the "AMP" mode, and now the on screen display no longer comes on. The only thing that I get is "setup locked" on the digital display of the receiver. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know how to fix this. Please help before I give up and return the receiver.
  4. Thanks for the response! I was looking at the SVS site on calibration and just wondering where you had your gain set. I think they said to set it no more than 1/2 way up. I'm going with SVS. I just don't no if I want the 25-31 or the 20-39.
  5. I was reading a post about LOTR and you mentioned bottoming out and damaging your sub b/c the DVD was 10 -15 db's hot. My question is @ what volume did you have your receiver set, and what did you use to calibrate your system? My system is in the works, and I too was going to get the SVS PC Plus 20-39. Further what did SVS do to fix your problem? I have only heard excellent thigs about their customer service. One more thing. What is your opinion of this sub as far music goes? Thanks!
  6. Thanks fot all the help thus far guys! So basicsally the THX logo is just an advertising gimic? I noticed that the Denon 3802 has 7.1 widescreen mode. Is this similar to the THX format? I found the Denon 3803 on crazyeddie's for about $900. Is this a good price or should I keep looking on the net?
  7. I am in the market for a new HT receiver in the approx $1000 range. Currently I have the quintet system with a KSW 12, but plan to move up to the Klipsch Reference Series (RF-3, RC-3, RS-3).The receivers that I have been looking at are the Pioneer Elite VSX- 45TX which has THX select, the Marantz SR 8200 THX, and the Denon AVR 3803. All of these receivers have about the same output and features; however, I noticied the Marantz doesn't have any component in/ outs. Does anyone have these receivers or know anything positive/ negative about them? I have been leaning more toward the Denon b/c of name, and it's dual room capabilities; however, it is not THX certified. Does the THX certification really make that much of a difference? All help is greatly appreciated!
  8. After playing my 4.1's I notice that the back of the sub is warm. It is not HOT like many have written in previous forums; however, from the fear that it might actually get hot, I have been unplugging the sub in between usage. One of my friends thought this to be a bad idea? Is this bad for the 4.1's?
  9. Thanks Amy. My problem ended up being the installation disk that accompanied my soundcard. After that everything was a snap. Thanks again -Scott.
  10. I first posted this question on the soundcard section last week, and have yet to get a response. Someone please tell me what I need to hook the 4.1's to my acoustic edge. The 4.1's have three cables coming out of the preamp: the black one which attaches to the sub, and the other 2 which are a green and a red mini plug. The satellites all go to the sub. The acoustic edge is equiped with the cable which divides into black, orange, and I think green female connectors. Having problems...please help.
