  1. Ok so it's really not working. Just called my local dealer. $1000 out the door for a new RC 64ii
  2. I was ready to put a 40 inch lcd on the wall in my theatre. Even bought the wall mount. Then my brother-in-law told my wife that we would be stupid not to put in a projector like his and bammm i get the go ahead to purchase the epson 8500ub! Lol. I obviously have the sickness.
  3. Youthman: thanks so much for your help. Truely appreciate it. ...... Cornfedksboy: funny cause I had the c2 and then the c3 first. Then I sold the 3 when I got the 52 on clearance. To be honest all 3 have sounded similar to me. Wish I had them all lined up with the same movie clip to hear the difference. Looks like the $100 c2 purchase could turn into $1000 rc 64! Lol. As for this "timbre" matching thing, seems to be way overrated when your at the onkyo tx sr608 receiver level. Maybe when the electronics improve the timbre matching will matter more ?
  4. I have looked at the specs. I agree that looks are cool and important. Your saying that the RC-64 has a more clear sound than the RC-62? What do you mean by "shear authority"? I am only asking cause when the wife says "why do you need a bigger speaker?" I would like to have some hard facts to give her! lol Cause if I say "It looks cool" she will not be a happy camper. []
  5. Currently the f-3's. At some point would move to rc7's if I felt I needed to. However I do like my f-3'a very much. I do ht only no music. Right now trying to upgrade center and subs. Then act and fronts last if nessasary. Also.... Why "no comparison"? Cleaner? Maybe the added drivers softened the horn? What was the improvement specifically?
  6. Based purely on specs....I don't see how the 64 pairs with the 83's 82's or 7's any better than the 62 does. Seems like the only reason to get a 64 is to play it louder (higher sensativity and higher power). I mean the looks are of course are awesome! Having the four drivers is really mean looking. Am I missing something? I guess I would go with a 64 based on looks alone otherwise I might as well go with the 62 and save $800. The question about the 2 52's was based purley on availablity and price. If I could get close for half the price then maybe I would go that direction.
  7. ....and what does the larger horn and more drivers accomplish? (not trying to sound like a smartass here so sorry if it comes off like that)
  8. Hey Colter is that your name? My son's name is Colter. I guess what I'm looking for is the ability to play it louder ( I plan on changing avr's and going with seperates). Why does anyone use a 64 vs a 62?
  9. Well....a quick look online will show $1299 almost everywhere. The places under that price seem a bit sketchy. I could look into a local dealer as they have been known to offer 10% off msrp. Even at $1100 it would be a difference of $600. I guess my question is (for the owners of the 64 and those that have experience running 2 centers) is: Is the 64 $600 better than 2 rc 52's?
  10. I agree that the 1 64 is better than 2 52's. Is it $800 better? The 64 is $1300 and 2 52's can be had for $500
  11. Anyone run 2 center speakers? I was thinking about buyng the rc 64. I currently have an rc 52 that is 5 hours from selling on ebay. I wasthinking about running 2 52's and not buying the 64. Any tips? The 52 can be had for $250 so that is pennies compared to a new rc 64.
  12. Anyone ever heard one or own one? Trying to decide between the 3400 and the 3200. I found the 3200 for $1361 shipped for 2 of them. Does that seem like a good price? What can I expect to pay for 3400's?
  13. I currently have a synergy sub 12. I like it but feel like I want more bass. I like the design of the Paradigm dsp-3400 and the ed A5-350. The dual front port with the grill off (Cats). Can anyone give me some feedback on how they like their subwoofer? specifically but not limited too... A5-350, DSP-3400 (3200), epik conquest, Rythmik Fv15, ect. Looking to buy 2 subs. I originally thought about another sub 12 ($250) but not sure that would solve my problem.
  14. Well the sub 12 is currently $250 shipped from newegg so there is really no comparison at that price range. I have no problem spending the $600-$700 for the paradigm but is it worth it? That is the question.
  15. I currently have a Klipsch synergy sub 12. I love the way is functions and am very happy with it. I would like to have 2 subs in my HT only room. I thought about "upgrading" to a paradigm dsp-3200 or maybe 3400. I would want 2 of whatever sub I purchase. Obviously the Paradigm sub's are m,uch more expensive. I qam wondering if they are worth the money. Should I just add a second synergy sub 12 or sell my current sub 12 and buy 2 dsp-3200 or 2 dsp-3400's? Thanks
  16. sorry...so these are kl650's. The sub's are $600 and the 1000 watt amp (provides power for 2 subs I right?) is $700. So looking at $3300-$3400 range for all 6 pieces. The room is a basement home theatre only that measures 10x17x7 so well under the 3000 cf you made mention of. You say that you didn't get reference level out of them and so you sold. I heard these exact speakers in the same roon (display room at the store) with a set of rf 82's and I didn't think they were close (m,eaning the THX ultra's seemed far superior). The demo was movies only no music. When you say reference level are you talking about a klipsch rf82 comparison? As for the AVR I have a THX certified onkyo but it only output 100 per so do you think that could be an issue?
  17. Yup I heard them but it was with the thx sub so it may be a little better than my sub 12! Lol
  18. I actually am very happy with my f3 setup but I heard the thx ultras are a different world for movies. The price is 60 % off $1200 each. So I'm looking at $480 each. It is a local store going out of business sale. Floor models but look to be in great shape. I believe they have 2 subs and a 1000 watt amp from the same line for sale as well but I don't know how much would be a good deal on those
  19. I have a chance to get a LCR set of THX ultra 2's for $1500. I exclusivly use my system for movies. Would anyone reccomend those speakers and is that price a good deal?
  20. Something is making me Yawn now....what could it be?
  21. It looks pretty nice from the pictures you posted. I would stick with oak if I was doing any projects around the house where the grain is gonna show. However oak is quite expensive but it does look nice and easy top work with (as far as staining).
  22. Now thats the way to do it! Have both options. How much is all that gonna cost? I looked into screens and those are not cheap.
  23. yeah I can see what you mean. The fan noise is a a little taxing but most of the time I dont notice it. The heat build up in my small room is also annoying during the summer but it is a bonus during the winter! lol Of course I f could get a 100 inch screen in TV form fo reven close to the money I spent I would go with that. Although a TV has a couple of it's own drawbacks. But simply for the higher quality picture the TV would win out. ( assuming money was close).
  24. which epson are you going with? The 8500 and 8700 UB's are around $2200 and the 9500 UB is around $4000. Epson doesn't make a homtheatre projector in the 3K range. (unless your getting a killer deal on a 9500). Although for the extra grand I would still say the 8500 is the best deal
