  1. Thanks everyone for input on the surrounds. I think Ill start with rs-62s and work my way to the rb-61s. Then down the road upgrade to the rf-83s.
  2. Yea, I know what you mean. Ive heard good things about the 63s. Since the new reference is coming out, im sure that all the ref 4 stuff will be going on sale (at least I'm hoping) so that might be worth checking out.
  3. I can haggle for you lol. But sorry about earlier, when I was saying that rf7s are brighter than rf 82s, that is just what I heard the difference from the generations, which isn't a bad or good thing, just depends on what you want. And it seems that you are in the same position as me. You really can't listen to them which is a pain. But for 800, That is a really good price. Since they are overall better than the 82s, cheaper than the 82s, and are in the same league as the 83s which retail 2800ish, it really seems like a great deal. Plus the 10 inch woofers seem pretty nice...
  4. Maybe my room isn't considered small.. Its about 23 feet by 12ish. I currently have mounts about 10 above the ground. I tried my best to get the THX angles correct and placement. I am one of those people where sound quality comes first then how it looks. But Im going to be buying a house in the next year and want to dedicate one room to a HT room [] So Im trying to buy everything now so I dont have to worry about finding money when I am making a mortgage. Thanks for your help!
  5. Well the only option is to not buy speakers or travel 5 to 8 hours away to listen to them... Im not recommending either like i said, just I know some said that rf-7s were brighter, but I don't know the person personally, just a comment on this forum. Like i said i haven't listened to either of them. Im not recommending either, but I will say that 800 for the rf-7s does seem like a steal to me. Not sure if they sound better than 82s, the same, or worse. The main reason I posted on here was to let him know that Vanns can cut some good deals. I was talking to this guy online and he was about to buy some from 6ave and they said the lowest they could go was on the site. I told him to go to vanns and they gave him 300+ cut just for asking to beat a price. Like I said, im not as lucky as some of you guys where you have audio stores with rc-64s around to test out. My bb doesn't even have a room for HT setups. They also have 3D tvs set up but won't give you the glasses to try out... I called around and all the stores around were out of business or didn't carry higher end klipsch stuff. So my choice was to either buy based on reading every review I could find and reading the forums or keep my onkyos... I really wished I could have auditioned them, but sadly audio and video stores in my area went out of business [] So I had little choice... Sorry to the original poster looking at the RF-7s, I'm not telling you either way. I was just wanted to make sure he knew that you can talk down audio sites to save some money. And if you get a chance to audition the rf-7s and rf-82s, I would love to know what you think of them. Sorry for any confusion guys.
  6. Sorry guys, I have another question. It looks like Ill go with the rs series for the surrounds and a directional speaker for the rear. But what about rf-25 for the rear instead of the rb-61s? i can get them close to the same price right now... Any thoughts to using rf-25s for back surrounds instead of the rb-61s and if the rf-25s would match the rest of my system?
  7. I wish! I drove around for hours and the only speakers I could find were the Icons at bb... which were playing a static fm station... But I spent forever looking at the best speakers and they always came back to klipsch. I read through this forum like crazy, figuring out what would be the best and finally decided to go for the rc-64 and the rf-82s. I wanted the rf-83s but they were nearly triple the price [:S] The most money I have ever spent without trying first.. I can't really comment on if the rf-7s are better or worse than the rf-82s, I thought I read that some people said the rf-7s are to bright and they preferred the rf-82... but it really depends on what you personally like. I haven't listened to either yet but I doubt you will be disappointed in either! Good luck with your journey and let us know what you end up getting!
  8. Hey, You sound just like me last week. For around 1600, you can get a rc-64 and 2 rf-82s by asking online retailers for quotes. I would start with vanns, they have awesome customer service and fast shipping that is free... though it seems they don't offer freight shipping [] but they will replace any damaged speaker that fedex beats up. They also quoted me 1300ish for rc-62 and rf-82s... but I caught the upgrade bug before I even started ordering so I went with the rc-64 []
  9. EDIT: Hey guys I had another question. I found someone on CL selling new rf-25s for 500 and was thinking of using them for rear surrounds and still use rs-62s for surrounds. Would the rf-25s match the rf-82s and rc-64? and would they be as good as the rb-61s for rears? Has anyone used tower speakers for rear surrounds? Thanks guys again. I just recently bought a RC-64 and RF-82s. I have some cheap onkyo surrounds right now, and am planning on replacing them asap (will replace my sub last unless a great deals comes up on CL). So would rs-62s work well for the surrounds and then get rb-61s for back surrounds? Or would 4 rs-62s be better? Sadly I can't audtion anything and haven't even recieved my rc-64 or rf-82s yet (Just need to wait till the 17th!). And I know many of you guys said the rs-62s may be overkill, especially in a small room, but I eventually want to upgrade to rf-83, and then I wouldn't need to change the surrounds. But if I run across a good deal on the rs-52s, I would likely take them.
  10. Yea, let us know how that goes. But if you end up needing speaker wire, try out monoprice. 13 dollars for 50 feet of 12 gauge speaker wire (I spent a few more dollars on the in wall speaker wire so it hopefully will look better when I run it) and less than 2 dollars for a pair of banana plugs []
  11. Nevermind, I got a reply and it is a PSW1a instead... A lot less interested now that I found the specs. And I tried to delete this thread but I couldn't find a way to... On to CL looking for more deals!
  12. I found a Cambridge Soundworks SW1 on CL around me with the master and slave for 150. The only reviews I can find from it is: http://hubpages.com/hub/Cambridge-Soundworks-SW1-and-Slave-Subwoofers-Review I'm thinking about getting it, but hate that I can't find many reviews about it, or even a spec sheet... I'm just hoping that someone here might be somewhat familiar with it. Thanks
  13. Thanks for all of your guys input. I ended up ordering it thursday! And it looks like it will be here Tuesday... I really want to skip work[] I'm pretty sure Im also picking up a pair of rs-3s for 100 for part of my surround. It's hard to find anything out about them but I heard they can fill up aroom pretty well by themselves... I was looking into some rb-61s, but I couldn't talk down the guy from 375 used, I have found similar prices new so im going to pass. Eventually I would like to get 4 rs-62s for the surrounds but im a little low on money.
  14. Hey thanks guys for all of your input. I ran across 2 rs-3s for 100 dollars and they look to be in mint condition. Would those be good for back surrounds and get rs 42/52 for the surrounds? Sorry for all the questions! Ive never spent so much money and time on something Ive never got the chance to hear! And about 7.1. I agree, my sister has a 7.1 which I sat up perfectly (but with a mix of vega, bose, and another no name speaker [] ) and she moved everything around to make it look better... well now the surround backs are in front of the surrounds and the front is just horrible... The center speaker is placed really well though [] But I can tell a difference from 5.1 to 7.1 with my current setup (without klipsch). And i watch blurays which sound amazing with dts hd master audio and dolby true hd (have a few that actually outputs in 7.1 with dts hd MA). But most of the time I have my ps3 send it as pcm to the reciever and then run PLIIx and it sounds pretty good. Not a hundred percent sure on the whole 2 sub thing. Im looking into getting a 15 inch sub to get really good lows after I get some money and finish the surrounds... But if anyone can tell me what they think of using the rs-3s for back surrounds, or if they would be a good match, please let me know! Hopefully once I get the rest of my setup ill start answers some questions instead of asking them...
  15. Thanks! I can't wait to get everything so I can put it in my sig[] I was reading and it looks like the there isn't a huge difference between the rs-42s and rs-52s. Would four rs-42s be good to complete my 7.1? or any other suggestions? Thanks
  16. I just ordered a rc-64 and two rf-82s and am now looking at the best surrounds and subwoofer to complete my setup whenever i get some money. Since this community practially sold me on klipsch speakers when I started looking last week, I was just curious what you guys think would be best. The thing that sucks there is no way to audition any klipsch speakers besides the cheapest icons and the klipsch home theater in a box setup... I looked for hours for a place near me that sold klipch reference line and found none. BB was the only place that had any klipsch but did a terrible job setting it up... So i hope I like the RC-64 and RF-82s! Anyway, what do you guys think of tower speakers for surrounds? I found some cheap rf 25s, but haven't jumped on them yet because im not sure if it would be better to get like a rs-52s and rb-52s. I currently have a 7.1, with onkyo speakers for surrounds. I just bought a Onkyo rc-260 which improved the sound of my current speakers tremendously. Also what do you guys think of a 7.2 vs 7.1? Thanks
  17. Hey, Just curious if you ended up going for the RC-64 and the RF-82s. I'm so close to buying them... Just need to hear someone tell me how awesome they are![]
  18. Cool. I'm thinking of just ordering it... I hope the rf 82 sounds ok with the rc64... Im going to keep the onkyo surrounds for now until I can afford to get the rest.... I'm a little nervous because I actually haven't listened to either of the speakers yet. All of the audio places are out of business around here and it leaves me with best buy. Which only had klipsch cheap surround package hooked up and the lower end icons which they had all hooked up to a stereo playing a semi static fm station with a little music coming through... It was the best static i have ever heard in my life though!
  19. Hey, I just recently started looking at high end speakers and came across the almighty Klipsch.Im looking at RC-64 and 2 RF-82s from Vanns and wanted to see what you guys thought about the price I got them to. The current offer is1619, which includes shipping for all three and all are new. Does that sound pretty good or do you guys think I can get them lower or any other suggestions would be great! Thanks guys! Also, I just bought a Onkyo RC-260 (didn't even think about upgrading the speakers a few weeks ago when I bought it...) Thanks again
