New member here and I figured I'd introduce myself. Over this past weekend I was lucky enough to purchase a very gently used pair of Klipsch RF-5's in black ash. Technically these aren't my first Klipsch speakers, as once upon a time I had a set of Promedia 2.1 speakers; however, they are the first home audio speakers from them I've ever owned.
It's funny, a lot of people throw around hyperbole like "it was a night and day difference", but in my case this purchase was by an objective standard a night and day difference from my old speakers. Suffice it to say that my old speakers were polar opposites of the RF-5's: bookshelf speakers with very low sensitivity (~85db/2.83volt input), a wide-dispersion ribbon tweeter, etc. Not to say one was inherently superior to the other, but I find the RF-5's give me the sound quality I seek with the oomph that the bookshelves could never give. It took about 1 minute of movie previews to have a grin plastered on my face. So begins my Klipsch journey. Now I need to complete the system!
