  1. Built the networks and installed them a couple days ago. Been listening for a few hours total...sounds better for sure. Not sure how to describe the difference other than everything has better 'definition'. Vocals seem more up front. If you're on the fence, go ahead pull the trigger. You'll be glad you did. Gotta' go...Sounds like Jonny Lang and Carl Weathersby have come to visit....
  2. When I replaced the network parts with the Crites stuff, I did one speaker first and did an A-B. I was really surprised by the difference. Never imagined it would be that much of an improvement...
  3. I ordered them Tuesday. I'll be sure and post my opinion..fwiw. I have a Yaqin MS300c amp with Phillips jan 12AT7WC in front stock 6SN7s stock 5U4GBEH rec. and Sophia Electric mesh plate 300bs.
  4. Thanks for the welcome, I've been lurking around a few of the audio forums for a while. I recently sold all my SS stuff (mainly Pioneer Spec gear) and have ventured into the mysterious world of tubes [] A few years ago i purchased a pair of mint Forte IIs and have since been trying to find the ultimate electronic pairing for them, and so far valves are it. I've replaced the caps and resistors in the crossovers along with Ti tweeter diaphrams with Bob Crites stuff with very positive results. If Alk s networks are as much an improvement over the originals as they claim, I want to try them [Y]
  5. Who here is using ALK crossovers in their Forte II? Thoughts, opinions....
  6. Not sure this is the proper sectiom of the forum to post this but ... Anyone ever heard or dealt with these people..The new tube company in Valley Stream N.Y.?
  7. I'm using a Pioneer Spec1 and 4 and while the sound is detailed and dynamic it just seems harsh and too in your face for my taste. I find myself dialing back the midrange and upper end more and more. Looking for a more laid-back smoother sound, but prefer ss. Any ideas?
  8. Tell me what amplification you are using for your Forte'IIs. I'm particularly interested in the vintage stuff.
  9. I bought the mint condition Forte' IIs and am very happy with them. Just received the Crites caps and titanium diaphrams for an upgrade. A friend worked at a Florida high end audio store back when..and said the CF3s simply outshined everything else they sold at any price.
  10. Hello, new to forum but have been reading with interest. Anyway I have the opportunity to buy a pair of Forte II and a pair of Epic CF3s, series 3 both in mint condition for similar money. As much as I'd like to have both...one pair will have to do. I've read gleaming reviews of the Forte's but can't find much info on the Epics. Any insight would be appreciated.
