  1. Yes thats a Wadia 151 thats driving these Cornscala.
  2. Finished almost. The feet are just blocks. I need to design some feet!
  3. The inside. No corner boards. No cross supports. The binding post are on the inside side of the set. Please let me know if you see something really stupid or even a little stupid! These are my first set of speakers. The binding post were very hard to solder! I have been wondering about a support for the HF200...
  4. Here is Bob's xover cleaned up. Bob has been a great help. I know almost nothing about speakers.
  5. Currently I have glued walnut on the front and created a black grill. I will put a clear finish on that will leave a contrast between the walnut and the birch. I am also cleanning up Bob's xover. Sure it will most likely sound the same but it will be cleaner. Oh I did put a double layer of 3/4 BB on the motorboard.
  6. Dave's horn looks interesting. Wish you smart guys would have gotten this all figured out by now. I am just finishing a set of Bob's 2 way Cornscala. My listening test found the highs to be pronounce enough, so I can not see adding Bob's booster. I am going to keep my eye on this thread and post some pictures soon. Still have a bunch of sanding and then applying finish and the grill.... Thanks for all the info.
  7. thanks! I went ahead and finished up the speakers. they have 5 hours of playing and sound very good. These are my first horns. the sound is different. I have not listened critically yet. May NOT! Just enjoy!
  8. Working to get the Crites xover rebuild kit in. Does the polarity matter for the caps? I have found two pictures of installed sonicaps. Each picture has the caps facing in opposite directions. Each has the three caps facing the same direction- which I would not have guessed form looking at Crites schematic.
  9. I could not have imagined a better and more complete response. Thanks for your time and experience. I am going to try to save a pair of Forte 1, since they are not that far from the Quartets. The quartets have gotten me interested in these, what I had considered “old time speakers”. I like the sound of the Quartet. Much better than a pair of $3000 modern speaker…. I will try to find some big Klipsch and take a listen. Should be fun!
  10. Just CLed a pair of Quartets. Nice. I have the titanium tweeter and xover rebuild coming from Bob. I have great hope for these speakers! I have a few general questions. In the big picture, an updated Forte 1 would sound how close to a Quartet or Forte II? How do the Forte or Quartets rate with the La Scala? How do the new La Scala sound compared to the older speakers? If you move up to the folded horns, how do the above speakers compare? I have also looked at making some of the PI speakers. Any guess how they would compare? Is cabinet resonance ever a problem with these speakers? Thanks!
