Hello.
I just recently purchased a pair of 1989 Chorus II's
for $270 dollars.
Upon returning home, and hooking them up, after a
light clean up, one of them has a bunk tweeter.
(Figures).
Pulled the tweeter out, tried it straight off the
amp,(Thinking maybe X-over problems) nothin'.
Oddly, the horn has a 1995 sticker, with the
model #, (Which I forgot, And I put back in the
cabinet).
I did disassemble the tweeter and noticed no wire
breaks at the dome coil assembly, but the coil
didn't look too great.
Can a guy get replacement diaphram coils for the
tweeters for Chorus II's?
Crossovers:
A couple of questions here.
Why are their transformers in the X-over circuits?
What is their primary purpose?
These are T5a, 5 amp, I guess.
I noticed mine have a metal and a plastic covered
radial caps on the board,(Are these electrolytics? EEK)!
A couple of film caps, then a little iron core
inductor for the mid I guess, and a large inductor
with a big retangular iron core.
These speakers are screaming for a crossover upgrade!
Can anyone help me out?
These speakers serial #'s don't really match,
but the the two same people that inspected and tested them have their signatures on each cabinet.
Strange.
Other than that, I'm really starting to like
these speakers, they're black, great shape,
and make my sansui sp-x9's look like bookshelf speakers.
Can you source replacement tweeters or replacement
coils for these speakers?
Has anyone done any crossover mods to the
Chorus's?
Your reply's are greatly appreciated, for I
want to get these things dialed in and
going a.s.a.p.
Thank you very much,
Mike Stehr.
