  1. A lot of people sell them without the riser I have seen on Ebay. I assume for similar circumstances... they got chewed up or broke or some other hazard to the carpeting. Once removed they are like new again. You got the good part of them and you should be real happy with them even if you left them as is. After having mine 20 years they are still as valuable to me as they were new. Anyone letting them go for 100 probably didnt buy them new in the first place and wouldnt appreciate the investment. For me it was the grand finale of a long hard choice between a huge studio of new speakers to choose from in the Audio Visual store in Frankfort Germany. I tested many speakers with many amplifier systems and these Chorus II were the ultimate creme of the crop in thier day. Enjoy!
  2. Fantastic deal! Is it worth it? Well Ive had mine since new in 1991 and I just purchased a spare woofer for fear they would not be replaceable down the road. It was a used one I got on Ebay and I paid 110.00 shipped. Yep I would say well worth it!
  3. Wow, I sure have missed a lot in this thread the past couple months. Still poking along with my unaltered Chorus II still debating changes...sigh.. I guess I just hesitate to fix what isnt really broke yet.
  4. I dont have the answer to that one but my sheets for the Chorus II show a K-61-K has 1.5 inch phenolic daaphram if that helps
  5. Thanks to all, tough choices indeed. I have had my Chorus II since new in late 1990 but had them in storage till nearly mid 1991 due to being deployed for Desert Storm. I would say my speakers have had very little use in the last 10 years as I am getting much older (55) and have many other interests. My main concern in the beginning is age, especially of the original crossover networks which also are mounted on the terminal cups on these. I see that Crites can rebuild these for about half the price of replacements. So still on the fence on that. My brother told me he had read over at the Audio Karma forums that it was almost absolutely necessary to upgrade to the titanium tweets if I get the new crossovers. Then I began reading about the Klipsch titanium mids as well. It could well be that none of it NEEDS replaced but I am thinking of the future, especially now that there is news of Klipsch being taken over by Audiovox. I dont especially savor the thought of missing out and wishing I had taken the opportunity when it existed.
  6. Well you have so many modifications to your system that I wont be doing in the audiophile realm, but basically what I am grafting from this is that you prefer the titaniums to the crites, crites to the stock, and that I would probably be better off just recapping the original crossovers than to upgrade to all new crites crossovers?
  7. Cool looking drivers there. I think I may be ordering mine soon as I have heard that Audiovox will be buying out Klipsch very soon. That may spell the end of Klipsch and all the classic parts soon.
  8. That was what I was thinking reading the updates that maybe the updated wiring that come with the Crites networks would have the correct connectors. Good to know. Thanks Looking forward to another opinion about the titanium drivers Set12 Oh BTW I would appreciate the phone number you called to make the order too if you will.
  9. Id like to do this upgrade to both tweeter and Midrange on my Chorus II set. Does this midrange K53 Ti work on the Chorus II K-61-K? I purchased mine new 20 years ago so the cost of ownership has been pretty low considering I got them on sale at the PX for 800.00 NIB in late 1990 or early 1991..(memory fading ) SO I figure new diaphrams/drivers, and cross overs would be cost effective for another 20 years use if I live that long
  10. Back in 1991 after returning from Iraq/Kuwait in Operation Desert storm to my unit in Germany, I found a PX in Hanau Germany clearancing their Chorus II speakers. I got the last 2 new in box Chorus II for 800.00 which was a great price back then. They were manufactured in sequence with final assembly date in Aug 1990. I have had many Klipsch speakers and subs but these remained in my possession all this time. I just gave my KG4 set to my brother last week. I had Tangents and KG1 and bottom throw sub, etc but nothing to compare with these. These also remained as several sets of Bose came and went, including 901. Nothing compares to Chorus II in all that I have experienced.
