  1. Sold em for $500. Thanks to your help. Randy
  2. Thanks all, Great info that helped the buyer decide he wanted them. I also gave him a few links to other threads here that were on the topic. Looks like he will come and pick them up tomorrow. Much appreciated. Randy
  3. Hello, I am in the midst of selling one of my sets of KLF-20s and a potential purchaser has asked me if they sound good together with KLF-30s. I would be interested in your honest thoughts here. Thanks Randy
  4. I live near Vancouver British Columbia. Serial number for one is KLF20BS99020171. The pair I am selling doesn't have any marks on them and are in very nice shape. I even have the boxes for them. You mention that cabinet construction was an issue over the run of these speakers. One of the Klf-20s I am keeping had a loose front panel when I bought it. I used a thread on here to dismantle and repair it and the partner that I am keeping. Took me a few hours. The two I plan to sell are solid and have not been redone ask far as I know. Randy
  5. Hi, My speakers are too big for the living room and I am going to get rid of them and downsize. I have 2 pairs of klf-20s and I plan to sell one pair. They are black satin and the cabinets are in perfect shape. No marks at all. What should I be asking for a pair of them? I plan to post on craigslist locally. Thanks. Randy
  6. What is rms wattage? I was assuming that what I should be looking at when I looked at the results of different guage wire was the decibal drop and drop in watts per channel. Randy
  7. I am quite sure I am never coming close to using the full wpc. I can put music on and turn it "UP" and the system overwhelms the house. I only do that once in a while to get my children upstairs for a wrestle. Most of the time it is way quieter than that. I will never require all of what my system can put out if I stay in this house. 14 guage it is. "Cranking it up" to the point where my children have to come upstairs to scream at me to turn it down so they can hear the tv in the basement is really fun. I dive on the remote and they tear at me and we wrestle for 15 minutes while the music blares! Good times!! Thanks. I have learned a lot today.
  8. WOW! What a great link and calculator. I am sort of bottom lining here, but with a 20 foot run I am still getting 98watts of power delivered and would have o.22 db. Tha would be pretty solid still as you can't detect a change in db less than 1? This saves me a drive to the store and some money! Thanks so much. You have done a lot for me Cornfed! I really appreciate it. Randy Just to make sure I am reading this calculator right. One of the

19, 20 ....some klipsch cost plenty!
  10. Hold it!!! I want to know what you finally did! Please fill in what you did and how it all worked out. I hate lurking around and then having to post because they didn't tell me the end of the story.[] Randydb
  11. I want to move my klf 20s(front speakers) a bit further out from the television. Right now they have really thick speaker cables but the one is too short to move it out. I need a cable about 13 feet long total. I have some 14 guage cable around the house here that is a fair bit thinner than the other cable. Can I use it for my klf 20 if I just have a 13 foot run or should I go out and buy more of the thicker guage stuff? Thanks Randy
  12. This is why I love the klipsch forum! Thank you so much for this info and keeping me from driving 7 hrs. round trip and buying something that isn't even klipsch! So now the la scalas?? Is $700 a decent price? They are a sight better than my klf-20s right?
  13. Hi, I have come across ads for both La Scala's ($700) and Klipschorns($750). The la scalas are close to my brother in laws place(1000km from me) and the ad is just one line long with no pictures. Basically says they are black, the cabinets in alright condition, and sound great. The Khorns have a short ad but are about 3.5hrs from me, with a few pics. The cabinets look okay. Both have been up for over a week. Should I be going after either of these? I understand both are smoking heavy sets of speakers. Is it worth shipping them? I will post some pics of the khorns. Also, what is the picture of the speakerlab k about that the guy has posted?
  14. Hi, There is a set of lascalas that have been hanging around on craigslist since the end of Feb. They have been painted with some hammered goldish paint so don't look smashing. But, is this still a decent price? Here is the link. Man those things are pigs...135 pounds? http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/ele/2232338415.html
  15. I love diy. Done my own reno's, built a number of snare drums and a drum kit...it is so cool to have made something that is high quality and unique. I am intrigued by this and am going to do some research. I could have a really beautiful cabinet instead of flat black. For the time being my neighbor has given me his Wharfedale rs10 subwoofer. It's made in Britain. He owed me $130 for some doors I gave him. Wants me to take this subwoofer in trade. The few I can find for sale in North America go for $300-$600 second hand(except my neighbor...he had his on craigslist for $150) .Seems they went for about $1000 retail. I set it up for the kids and it sounds half decent. Certainly fills in lots of the bottom end, but sounds a bit boomier than the ksw12 I have...if that is a word. I had to turn down the input volume on the sub unit a bit to make it sound good compared to the ksw12. For $130 though...and it is just for the kids. Then I could do a diy unit for myself upstairs and sell the ksw12! Wharfedale rs10 sealed subwoofer specs. ..................................................................................................... 16. What is it about the tannoy that isn't so good? I also don't get how any of the companies price these things. Like the Tannoy is 1130ish at this store. I see a wharfedale in the same price range but they both seem to have similar characteristics to the ksw that retails around $400. Is it more of just listen and go with something that sounds good to me? Also, the ksw will fall short mainly because it just doesn't get up to the volume and clarity of my klf20s? Btw, I LOVE my klf20s. It is so much easier to hear what you are listening to with them.
  17. I just don't know what I am looking for in a subwoofer. I have a pair of klf-20s for the kids downstairs. I would prefer to not spend much...my kids aren't audiophiles in any stretch of the word. But still. Recently I was outbid on on an rw-10d. Now after much looking I am looking at. 1) Brand new synergy ksw10 for $225 total from local drug store. reg. price$399+tax 2) Brand new Tannoy ts1001 revolution for $450 total from same store. Reg price 1139+tax 3) wait for a better deal from ebay...craigslist etc. What should I do here? What should I look for? Should I be waiting for a legend series sub to come up on ebay? Agggghhhhh! Randy
  18. I have spotted an lf-10 sub too now. From what I read it is a better sub than the rw-10d. If they are similar prices I should go for the lf-10? I noticed it seemed that the lf-10 had some problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. Like a rattle etc. The lf10 would be an improvement over my ksw12 that I have already? I could move that downstairs and keep the lf-10 for myself upstairs? Thanks Randy
  19. When I think of it, the kids aren't audiophiles in any sense of the word. Music or movies. What they would get out of this setup is way beyond anything they really pay attention to musically or in movies.
  20. Hi, I am looking at an rw-10d sub. If I can pick it up for under $200 total am I doing okay? Am I better off waiting for an rw-12? I am looking to pick up a fairly inexpensive sub for the kids in the basement that would be used with a pair of klf-20s Thanks Randy
  21. It didn't occur to me that it might have been the amp that took out the driver. I just sort of assumed that someone overdrove the driver until it blew. This sub is gone now(auction ended) went for $65. But they come though every couple weeks with different problems. They are a repair/warranty joint so they would get why I would want them to hook up another woofer and test the amp.I could see them doing it. I will keep my eyes open and also keep in mind the posibility of the amp being the problem when a driver blows. Randy
  22. Sooo, there is a synergy sub listed by a company that does Klipsch warranty repairs in Canada. They say the "sub woofer is blown." Looks like I can pick it up for about $70 or less. I keep thinking, what can be wrong? The speaker? Less that $75 shipped for a replacement. The power source? Don't know what that is worth. Should I pick this up and take a crack at replacing the speaker? Could have a decent sub for cheap $. Quick reply's as it ends soon. Randy
