Thought I would come here before I venture down the path of purchasing subwoofer(s). My current pair of 2010 Cornwall IIIs are 16ft apart and 3ft away from the corners of my living room (18ft x 18ft x 20ft[H]). The pre and power amps are by Van Alstine (without the bass/treble controls); and I miss the extended bass when listening to classical and jazz music. So... Any suggestions / recommendations would be helpful and appreciated.Thanks, G' Flash

My Sumiko Blue Point #2 cartridge just bit the dust (after 14 months!!)[] Thought I would come here for recommendations for replacement cartridge(s). I'm looking for a high-output moving coil in the $300-$600 range. Equipment includes: SOTA "Comet"; Van Alstine pre/power amps; NAD CD player; and Cornwall IIIs. Any tips/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks G'Man

Am not quite so "new" to this forum... Purchased and set-up new CW IIIs late last year; powered by Van Alstine elecronics. So far, so good... I used to listen to Snells powered by Threshold electronics - until 2007 and subsequent cross-country move. The last time I heard anything comparable to these CWs was 2006 at Yoshi's jazz supper-club where they used Klipsch house-speakers. A previous inquiry here answered my question regarding suggestions for additional sub-woofers (not an appealing choice, either, because of room aesthetics, etc.). Is it still the overall general belief that Subs are unnecessary with Cornwalls? And what's up with "Crites'" stuff? "A woman without perfume is a woman without a past" G' Flash

Your info/tips are all I need to hear[8-|] Am quite satisfied with ALL of the sound coming from these Cornwalls; startled and surprised sometimes at the ease with which they effortlessly "pump-out" the music in a Bach 'Tocatta/Fugue' or some Shirley Horn. Am curious/interested about extended bass response w/ these new Cornwalls by installing sub-woofer(s). Two questions: Is it necessary? Are there any recommendations? Thanks, G'Flash
