  1. Sorry to be a pain but I am going to get CD/DVD shelving from the below site. They sell wire. I was looking at 10m Mecury pack. They sell plugs/clips too. What would you recommend from what they offer? Banana Plugs http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/StoreFrontProfiles/deluxeSFshop.aspx?sid=1&sfid=74520&c=84098 Wire http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/StoreFrontProfiles/DeluxeSFShop.aspx?c=84104&sfid=74520&sid=201103211034500000000614489888 Speaker Pins http://www.selbyacoustics.com.au/StoreFrontProfiles/deluxeSFshop.aspx?sid=1&sfid=74520&c=84100 I don't believe I will need alot of lenght. Speakers will be 2m (3m tops) to the AVR. I going to bi-amp the front, maybe the centre. Not sure about the subwoofer. Subwoofer will be 3m away. 1m=3.33feet approx.
  2. Thanks everyone. I am thinking that I might run 16 guage wire. Reason being that the 3.1 will see the speakers around 4 and a bit feet. Should lower the resistance on the AMP some what. ANy other advice welcomed.
  3. I wonder if I could get advice on speaker wire and banana plugs/clips. I have no idea around the different sizes.
  4. I am equally shocked at the price but when looking at importing from the US, due to the high mass of the speakers, it is fairly close. I have no real room for 5.1. My couch and recline and the space of the room does not lend itself for it. I really would like 3.1 particularly for vocal/voice as I have discovered I have a faulty right ear and makes it hard to pick up some pronounciation. Start with 3.1 and more to 5.1. I was thinking of going 62 IIs with 52 II centre but the price difference in the package deal is marginal ($0.5k). Invest in larger speakers for the future. A pair of horns start at $24k here in Australia.
  5. Hi all. I have not paid money yet but I am fairly certain what my first system will be. I will be going a bi-amped 3.1 layout. I am in Australia and you have to realise this is a fairly big purchase with delivery costs. Comes out to $4.5k. Fronts - RF-82 II Centre - RC-62 II Subwoofer - SW308 AVR - Denon 3311 I think it should be sweet for TV, Movie, Video Streaming, Audio Streaming and CDs. Being a newbie to this, I am wondering what size wire and types of banana plugs or clips to use. I appreciate any feedback or help.
  6. I am very interested in seeing what you set up and get. I have heard and seen that the Onkyo brand is a solid but inferior make to the likes of Denon and Yamaha. In saying that I am sure there are good Onkyo models and folks who swear by it. One thing the critics (experts) report about Onkyo is that they run very hot compared to the other brands. Running hot means a smaller life span. In the end the decision is yours and if you can try the models plugged in and listen to them at the shop before you buy.
  7. Hi Mate. I am a noob to AVR and Klipsch. Your situation sounds very similar to mine. I would recommend you get a bigger AVR and the Yamaha RX-V1067 has the juice. If you can source the Yamaha Aventage A1000 you get virtually the same unit as the 1067 but you get 4 years warranty (opposed to 2 years on 1067) plus a bonus ipod/iphone dock (not in the 1067). The 10xx Yamaha have pre amp channels. I would not get the onkyo but if you were looking for an alternate AVR look at the Denon. The 2311 has the power and what you need. Good luck mate. I would love to hear what you ended up with.
  8. Hi all. Setting up my first AV Receiver and Speakers. I am not currently sure what model AVR but I will be getting a Yamaha. I have a choice of purchasing a set of VF 36 and RF 62 II. I have heard the ICONs with a mid range AVR (Yamaha 765) and loved them. I have not heard the RF 62II but they have excellent reviews. The ICONs have higher RMS and if I go a RX-A2000 or similar can really handle them. Whether I go I low mid of higher AVR the speakers will last me for a time. Basically I want to know if the the RF speakers are dramatically different to the ICONs.
