  1. What are you guys using to connect your iPod to your two channel system? I have seen docking stations with built-in DAC's and or stand alone DAC's ranging in price from a couple hundred to many thousands of dollars? I'm not looking to break the bank but really want good sound quality.

Any recommendations and thanks in advance,

    RW.

Here's a well respected DAC local to you to pick up a great price. If shipping to Canada wasn't so much I'd scoop this up to replace my Mav Audio Dac.

DACs in iPods,iPads are cheap and only produce quality sound thru headphones. My iPad and iPhone sounds remarkably better through my tube Dac and is not as good a quality as the one close to you.

I have no experience with docks.

  2. Nice pickup! Looks like I was not the only one buying more gear today, he he. She gave that to you for only $30.

Thanks derek, yea 30 bucks as they are clearing away everything to remodel a beautiful victorian home!

I got this piano stool for 10 dollars, it'll be perfect for sitting in front of 2 channel rig sorting thru LP's

  3. Scored this for 30 bucks 2 blocks from my apartment at a old house being sold off by the children taking over the house after the parents passed away, Custom made box with a Marantz 2225 and Dual 1019 TT. Needs a good cleaning ,but a quick hook up n test produced nice warm sounds from Sinatra spinning. The Dual 1019 has a AKG-P6E cart and stylus in new condition the lady said and actually sounded nice coming out of 2 hd300 satalites I quickly set up. Best 30 bucks I've spent !

It's a neat custom job that I think I'll use in the bedroom hooked to some rb61's.

  4. having owned a set of Bobs Phenolic mids I can say that as nice as they are and as much of an improvement they are over the stock Klipsch diaphragm (there are it for die hard Phenolic lovers) theTitanium diaphragms are a MUCH bigger step up again. Lots more mods to do yet these are diamonds in the rough. Best regards Moray James.

I'm loving the improvements. I've read a lot about the mods (including many posts of yours sir) and opening them up and working on speakers for first time really, I enjoyed it and don't feel intimidated to doing more when ready. The bracing you've written about intrigues me now [:D]

    Thanks

  5. I swapped out 1 quartet so far and did a lil A/B test. After about 30 mins of a good workout of Junior Wells and Led Zeppelin "Ramble on" on the mid diaphragm and crossover swap, it is a substantial improvement in soundstage and clarity. I put my C28 on mono so it was feeding the same on both and sat dead center at 10ft and its almost like 2 different speakers!

Back to work on the other one and then kick back and rock out until the girlfriend comes here in the evening [:D]

    [:'(] <<< tears of joy !

  6. Hey guys, I got the quartets home, cleaned up and they sound very impressive! They are not a forte but not far behind... They image well and are very musical. I'm very pleased with these ti diaphragms and new xovers are definitely in the future!

In the very near future for me as these were waiting for me when I got home today! Next 5 days off is going to be fun. Just thought I keep in this thread

  7. After spending the day listening to music and tweaking my system to the new MHDT Havana I am very pleased with its sound, the Havana is a very nice sounding DAC. Thanks again!

I have a spare Bendix 2c51 here that would work well in the Havana.

    PM me if you're interested.

  8. Sub is gorgeous!! rsw-15 is a great sub.

Got it home late last nightand left it until this afternoon and couldn't resist swapping it out quickly before work. I roughly dialed it in then set volume on side of it to around 50%. Tossed in a couple blu ray movies (Shoot 'Em up and U571) then 2 concerts ( Talking heads- Stop making sense and Roy Orison-Black and White) . I'm sold! There's nothing I can add that you guys don't already know. One thing was, I worked on the film Shoot Em up and was very close to the gun battles on set and vividly remember the impact I felt of the gun fire. I replayed those scenes in the warehouse on Blu ray and it was darn close to the same. Everything sounded wider and forward with the same tightness of the RT-10d. I put it up front for now until I have a few days off next weekend. I didn't have my rt-10 hooked to 2 channel, but certainly going to test the rsw-15 in the center channel on the C28. Then I'm thinking I'll try it with rt-10 in front and rsw in back of room. The 81's up front are holding their own and sound good crossed over at 70hz.

I had some 'S' clips and added 1 on each side of the screen and lowered it , so it locks in at a perfect height now again to avoid the rsw-15.

    couple pics.

    Thanks fellas!!

  9. Walked into my office at work this morning and lo and behold look what greets me!! My friend said it was Maple but this one looks like the Cherry. Either way it looks in very good shape. Ill be throwing it into a cab tonight taking her home. I won't be able to test it out for a few days as I'm on a long stretch of consecutive days working. I'm using iPhone to post this so hopefully the pic I took posts.

  10. Silent Hill Revelation: A good followup of the first movies. 3.5/5 Every once in a while, it is nice to watch somthing that will startle you at times.

That was one of the last films I worked on before leaving the film industry. I did the first one too. I'm happy to hear it turned out ok. Fun film to work on and great crew.
