Can I use a regular in wall front speaker as a center channel by turning it on it's side?

Im trying to find out why my Dennon 5700 reciever shuts off while im watching a dvd in the surround mode? This only happens when the movie gets to a loud action part Example: Castaway when the airplane crashes in the ocean. I have all Klipsch speakers KLF 30 (PAIR) KLF C7, KSP-6 (2 PAIRS REAR AND SIDES) RSW 15 SUB. Have checked speaker connection and everything looks fine. If I turn the volume down it will play right through it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Richard
