Did you ever get the RX-V667? If so can you review it for me? I am considering getting one myself. I eventually want to get a good amp but am going to have to settle for a receiver/amp combo in the mean time till I can save some more scratch. The V667's are in clearance price range now since the new RX-V671 is coming out. I was excited to see the V671 till I found out they don't have preamp outputs (LAME!) From what I've read the 667 is a really nice product for a midrange receiver.

I actually am considering relocating the bookshelf entertainment center and going with a smaller open table to accomodate some nice floor speakers...

Keep in mind I'm a total noob and I'm learning... I have been looking at home theater speaker tutorials and Component spec sheets... and I have a question about THD and SNR. I noticed the Emotiva XPA-5 has a .1% THD at rated power and >111db SNR as per their website. The Marantz MM7055 advertises less than .08%THD and 105db SNR. My question is what do these numbers really mean... what should I be looking for Ideally... and how do these 2 amps compare to each other. BTW I'm goin to demo the craigslist bookshelf set listed above on craigslist for purchase =) I guess I'm following you guys down the rabbit hole. HAHA

Thanks for the advice so far...I still need to find a good showroom though. Whether I buy a new system or a used one, I still want to demo the receiver/speakers. I know I'm probably gonna have to take a road trip, so I'm still up for suggestions in the Southeast US...I'd love to go to the pilgrimage in Hope, AR, but I have a wedding to attend that weekend.

Hi, I'm JD, and this is my first post here. I live in North Central Mississippi in kind of a rural area. I am getting ready to set up my first home theater sound system. Im looking for a store with a good showroom and an honest knowledgable salesman. I drove to a shop three hours drive south of where I live while I was visitng some family in South, MS. The salesman there was great but he was only able to demo stereo Stereo Floor speakers through a Mcintosh MC275. I loved the way the RF-52's and RF-62's looked and sounded, but ideally I need to be able to demo the whole 5.1 setup through the type of receiver I'm going to be using. I like what I've read about the Yamah RX-V667 and the upcoming RX-V671. These receivers are in my price range and I'm open to suggestions for other comparable models to demo. My home theater is in my living room which adjoins my kitchen and is seperated by the kitchen bar. The room is about 16' wide and about 30' deep with the bar dividing at the half point and a flat 8" ceiling all the way. I have a 52" Sony Bravia LCD TV. My couch is about 8-10 feet from the display. I have Hard floors in here as well... My budget is $3000 for my starter system including speakers and reciever. Thanks in advance for any help I get! JD
