  1. Good morning to everybody, after my last upgrade (a pair of new crossover by Bob Crites), I am thinking to change the internal wires of my La Scalas. Yesterday I tried to change the original wires of the mid-horn with a piece of my loudspeaker cable (Supra Ply 2.5) and I think I got a good improvement in the sound. Do you have any suggestion for other performing wires? Sorry for this naive question, but the best way to change the cable of the tweeters is by removing them with a long screwdriver? Thank you in advance for your answers. Roberto Massa-Carrara (Italy)
  2. Thank you Dennie. So it seems to me too, so far... [8-|] Roberto.
  3. Good morning to everybody, I just got few days ago the Bob Crites' Type A Crossovers (I choose the A Type because I drive my La Scala with a 300B Integrated amplifier). First of allI want to say that are really well built and identical to the ones showed in the pictures on Bob's website (this is a very good mark of professionality. They sound as I supposed: clearer, faster, more transparent and more detailed compared to the original ones, with a lot of air. In addition they don't lack of that "magical", romantic refinement classically given by the original oil capacitors. The music comes out from the La Scalas "more directly" and easily...with a dramatic sense of reality and vivid! An incredible (and cheap) improvement for my system. Thanks toall who pushed me to do this change and thanks to Bob for his job. Roberto.
  4. Hi, something has changed...after I wrote my last message yesterday evening. As a matter of fact, after almost two days of work, my La Scalas dramatically changed. They started to sound clearer and cleaner, and with a lot of details. The bass become faster and dry. A very pleasant and amazing experience. I think that it could depend on the fact that my La Scalas "have been dumb" for at least one year in the house of the previous owner. Therefore they might have required some hours of warm up. At this point, before to decide for any kind of upgrade in the crossover, I will wait for a while. However...I am really happy and excited for the sound of these speakers! Thanks a lot again for your help. Roberto.
  5. Thankyou for your answer. That was also my thinking, although I did not have a very good experience changing the original capacitors of the Heresys crossover with the Sonicaps. With the last one the sound really become open, transparent and detailed but I lost some "romanticism". However, I am planning to go step by step with the modifications of the crossover, starting with the replacement of the 13 uF capacitor only, with a more modern one.
  6. Hello to everybody. I am a new forumer from Italy. I am a (quite recent) Klipsch Heritage enthusiast. I owe a pair of Heresys built in 1982 and I just bought a pair of La Scalas BR built in 1979 with original type AA crossover. Heresy speakers have the K 77 M tweeter with square magnet and the K 55 V alnico midrange with original type E crossover. The La Scalas have both tweeter and midrange with alnico drivers. I found some important differences in the sound of the two loudspeakers. Of course there are huge differencences in bass frequencies in favour of La Scalas. But what makes me a little worried is the fact that in terms of trasparency and details of the mid-height, the Heresys seems to be better than La Scalas, which are more gentle and soft in the presentation of the music but they definitely lack of micro-informations. Does anyone had the same experience I met? Do you have any explanation of this phenomenon? Any suggestion to adjuest La Scalas permormances in the mid-height frequencies to the Heresys one? Thanks a lot for in advance for your help. Roberto
