  1. Hey there Rippyman! Yours is a GREAT looking room, and one of a fine collection of rooms that are VERY well thought out and CLEAN on this forum Smile

FINALLY, someone that has the SAME audio rack that I have in my theater! It is very straight forward, not outrageously priced and has a PIANO gloss finish Yes (not to mention solid as a rock)...

This one here even survived a FLOOD...... only one leg took in water like a spunge the first 5", but you really don't see it in a darkened theater, so I elected NOT to preplace it...

Shown here in the newly rebuilt (after flood) theater...

    Enjoy...

    ..........Gary

Haha, yep, thats it. I hacked mine up though, cut the top bars off and removed the top glass so I could sit my big center in the middle. It's done me good for the past 9 years.

  2. I recently picked up last years model but new Onkyo TX-NR, I did the Audyssey setup. It seemed to set my Cornwalls small, and 10ft from listening position when they are about 7ft. If I go in and change this manually will it mess with anything or should I leave it alone. Does this happen to others.

    Thanks

    Duder

Audyssey does not determin your speaker size or spacinng, it simply calobrates EQ. Your AVR is doing all the measurments and speaker sizing.

This was told to me by the Audyssey people when I asked them directly about the same questions.

I have done a ton of experimenting with Audyssey and in the end I found that turning Audyssey off produced the best results, haha.

You will get a much fuller broad sound without Audyssey, try comparing and you will see for yourself.

  3. Finished putting panels up Big Smile

Did you notice a big change in the sound?

It has a cleaner sound for sure at higher levels but I wouldn’t
say it’s a real big difference. It only cost
about 375 total so I’m happy with the looks and the small upgrade in sound. But
it definitely didn’t blow me away or anything. (I should point out that my placement location
was more about the look than optimal sound placement)

Kind of defeats the purpose no? LOL Looks over sound? Huh?

If you did the math for your room and placed those panels in the proper place I'm sure you would notice a HUGE difference.

  4. Tube amp on the horns and high powered
SS on the woofers is not a waste of time or money when it comes to high
    efficiency Klipsch.

Especially when most of the woofers have such low impedance dips.

    What does SS stand for?

What will this SS and tube amp do for my speakers? How will it improve the sound?

  5. Hmmm, so basically from this blog, it sounds like passive bi-amping which I would be doing is just a big waste of money. No benefit.

    Full blog here. http://community.klipsch.com/blogs/andyw/archive/2007/09/07/bi-amplifying-or-bi-amping.aspx

So where’s the controversy? Just taking two stereo amplifiers and hooking them up to your speakers (removing the straps on the input terminals) is called passive bi-amping (or “fool’s bi-amping” for the non-PC) and is very close to being just a waste of money (again many people will disagree). You
are sending the entire music signal to both amplifiers and both
amplifiers are amplifying the entire signal, but you are allowing the
passive crossover network to filter the amplified signals. I can’t think of any benefit in doing this. The tweeter amplifier is still reproducing the bass signals and they are still causing the amplifier to clip. (Perhaps there is a slight benefit by not requiring the current
of the bass notes, as this can increase the headroom of the tweeter
amplifier – by not drawing down the power supply rail voltage.)
