Thank you very much garyrc for posting the information. It sounds logic that how smaller the room is the higher the decibel cut will be from reference level. For me at -10 the voices sound crystal clear, and are around 60 db.I get max peaks around 95 db. So its not reference levels, because its to loud for my taste. I also use audyssey dynamic eq, because of this it sounds like reference level but less louder. I could watch non action movies at reference level, they peak around 85 db. Greetings Forestelder

Hi garyrc, You are right my system is calibrated by audyssey, where each speaker is set around and subwoofer is set at 75 db So when the volume dial is at 0 the system plays at reference levels. I would love to see the THX chart you talked about.

I never watched a movie at reference levels, its to loud for me hehe. Max is -10 for me. Mostly its around -15 or -20. But maybe now its possible because the amp can produce clean sound without any distortion. Thx for the tips and technical input guys.

I heard amps can play certain frequencies better then receivers is this true?

Well i have to say my surrounds are also from Klipsch. I have the RS42's who are also very effecient speakers. They rate 93db@2.83V / 1 m. and wattage is 75 W RMS. So i think the onkyo 3008 can handle these well.

Well i hope when watching movies i hear more details and maybe my listen volume will be less. I am sure for music the XPA 3 will blow out the Onkyo

Yes for me this is very important, Think i am a bit of a purist. I want to have a immersive movie experience, just like in the the theaters :-) Luckely for me the Emotiva amps are not very expensive, compare to other brands, like Rotel and Parasound. I wander what the experience is of other klipsch users on this forum, who have a similar setup like me.

Hello everybody, I am planning to buy a Emotiva XPA 3 gen 2 amplifier to power my fronts RF82's and RC62II center and let the receiver power my surrounds. At the moment they are powered by a Onkyo TX-NR 3008 receiver. Is it useful to buy the Emotiva or is the Onkyo enough for my setup? I hear alot from other Klipsch users that a Emotiva made a big difference in sound ( more clear, dynamic, open sound and tight bass ). ps. My listen distance is about 9.8 feet and when i watch movies volume is around -20. Greetings, David

Hi Guys I live next to a road. My question: lets say Audyssey is testing my 4th speaker ( right surround ), and at the same time a motorcycle is passing my house, must i start the auto calibration all over again, because of the motorcycle noise? I red the ambient noise must be as quiet as possible or it can mess up the measurements. Greetings

Hey guys i was wandering what the best listen distance was for the RC 64 centerspeaker. I have a small living room and my distance for the center speaker is about 9,8 feet.

Reference level is too loud for me! If i watch saving private ryan at that level, when the movie is finished i'll will be deaf lol. Maybe you have a really big room. I have a small livingroom.

So do you guys use it alot. I always use it and have it on light. Movies sound alot better and dialogue is crisp and clear.

Yea i used a digital db meter. Mostly i listen around 80- 85 db with peaks of 100 db.

Problem is with that method if you hear the dialogue loud the special effects ( explosives ) will be 10 times louder! Thats why dynamic volume is so handy for me.

I see some guys have it on -40 -30 at that level the sound is very soft with my setup. How come i have too crank it up between -20 and -15 ( for movies ), is it because the volume for each speaker is set at -9.5 in my receiver ( onkyo 3008 )? When i use dynamic EQ + dynamic volume i can listen at - 30 and the sound is much louder. Must be the dynamic range or something.

Thx mate! I am really impressed with the sound. Its so clear and crisp without any distortion. I have a small living room so for now i dont see the need for a extra power amp, its just overkill imho. Maybe in the future!

Well today i bought the Onkyo 3008 for 1250 euro ( $ 1796,69 ). The reason i bought this receiver is not for the wattage output ( because its only 10 watt more then the denon 3808 ) but for the whole feature pack it delivers ( thx certified, MultEQ XT32 etc ). Also the sound is more crisp and defined. With the denon my speakers sounded if there was a horseblanket over them. I dont see the need for a extra power amp because i never listen at high volume levels ( mostly between -30 and -20 ). As long i dont hear the speakers clipping i'll be safe. Hey Guys I use the Audyssey auto calibration for setting up my speakers. Is it neccesary too be silence all the time, when the "pink noise" is playing and also when its not? For example when the test tone pauzes and a big airplane is flying over my house, will this interfere with the measurements? Many thx!

Hey Guys, I have the Onkyo 3008 and i was reading in the specs sheet: ' Power Consumption Operational 1060 Watt". What does this mean, that it consumes 1060 watt at maximum volume level? Greetz Martijn

What really rulez about this onkyo model is MultEQ XT32 and THX ultra 2 plus.

Hey Guys, My eye is fallen on the Onkyo TX-NR3008. At the moment i have a Denon 3808 but i dont like the sound dynamics. Also have too crank up the volume high ( - 21 ) before i get good dynamics. My speaker setup is RC 64, RF 82's, SR 42's and RW-10d. I like too hear from other users with almost the same setup, what your experience is. Greets Martijn
