  1. Its been awhile since I've been on the fourm but I was itching to buy something lol and thought i'd be in the market for a new receiver. I was looking at the Pioneer SC-1222-k for $550 on newegg, I like the air play feature amoung other things. It will be used to movies and tv mainly with music in there occasionally. Picture quality is important as well. I was also considering getting rid of the couple amps if I could get something new that would power everything I have well enough. I have only owned Onkyo for as long as I've had them. I am looking for an upgrade, not a lateral transition. Any input would be helpful. Thank ya all in advance and my set-up is in the signature for reference.
  2. Yes, but the 35's in the garage sale are cheaper, and free shipping. This is why I was asking about how they compare to the 82s. Anyone have any idea if the rc-62 would watch up with the 35s? Even if it is a good speaker (the rc-35) the rc-62 is more readily available I believe. And it may be a stretch but how about the rc-64 possible with the rf-35s? Thanks for the responces.
  3. Yes Scrappy I just got them shipped over from an expert pack-artist lol. And also, I believe that you say they sound good, but why is it that no one has them?
  4. I am wanting to upgrade my front 3 and am courious about the RF-35's? I have not been able to find much about the 35 series with the exception that the RC-35 is not very good. So my question to anyone who has heard them is how to they stack up to the RF-82's? I know they are lighter and shorter,. If anyone has any input I'd greatly appreciate it. Also if the RF-35's are good, would something like the RC-62 be a match (considering the negative reviews for the matching RC-35). Of course there are a pair of 35's for sale in the garage sale section which is why I am asking this, but if it is worth the wait for the 82's I'd rather get the better speaker. Thanks.
  5. Also thanks for all the replies, that mounting bracket is an interesting suggestion if two ft high beats two ft behind. And trying both is gonna be tough because I am going to be getting the wire ran in the walls, so I want to get it right the first time (since thats how its gonna stay!)
  6. The ceiling is 8ft tall. Now I was planning on putting my couch about 10 ft from the tv (whicih will stick out about 8 inches i am guessing from the wall). The door that I am tryng to hang the speaker over is about 12 ft 10 inches from the "tv wall". So I could put the surrounds (rs-42s) about 2 ft behind the listening position and at a ft or 2 above ear level. then there would be about 6 ft bt the rs-42s and my bookshelves that will be on the back back for 7.1 setup. Does this sound more favorable than mounting them up higher but slanted? i guess it boils down to either 2 ft too high or 2 ft to far back lol
  7. And as far as the rs-42 goes itself, it sould be able to fill the room nicely? Also I do not know if a bracket like that would be the best solution in my case (although it looks great in your set-up). My patio doors the speaker will hang over leads to the pool, so lots of traffic and wet kids running in and out. Will tilting the speaker a little work? Maybe getting a shim or two behind it for a slight downward angle?
  8. I am trying to decide if a pair of rs-42's would work for me. First off the room I am going to put them in is about 20x16 (LxW). Second where I would want to hang them there are double glass sliding doors, so they will need to be mounted nearly all the way to the ceiling. I am not sure if the 52s, will fit above the door, so 42's would be the best fit, if they will do the job. So the question at hand is will the rs-42's be able to both fill the room and be able to work at a higher mounted height? Thanks for your help.
  9. As far as the rear surrounds go, the back wall (where they will go) has a 6 ft opening in it for the walk way. On one side is just 1 foot of space and on the other side of the opening is roughly 5 ft. with this set up, my rear surrounds would be in the corners of the room and at 11 ft apart. Would I be better off going with in ceiling speakers (UAC-8.2) then I could put them at whatever distance apart I wanted? And how would in-ceilings work for rear surrounds? Thanks for your help.
  10. My front three are all Klipsch and my four surrounds will be Emotiva so I am hoping it will not be to tough to get them matched up. One last question about subwoofer placement, It is going to be hard to put it up front in the new place. Would putting your subwoofer in a rear corner be alright to do? or is there a more prefered spot besides in the front? And thank you all for the responses. I had assumed the UPA-2 would be best for the fronts, something about being able to do lower ohm? I am not sure what that does but I read it somewhere.
  11. Hello all, i have a pair of RF-52's currently hooked up to an Emotiva UPA-2. I just purchased a new home (which I will be moving into this June) and will be upgrading my 5.2 to 7.2 using a pair of Emotiva UAW-8.2 for LR surrounds and a pair of Emotiva UAW-6.2 for back surrounds. Last night I jumped on the last Onkyo M-282 on accessories4less (picked it up for &168 shipped). So my question to you all is should I pair up the UPA-2 with the UAW-8.2's and let the new Onkyo M-282 power the RF-52's? Or should I let the Onkyo take the UAW-8.2's and leave the UPA-2 on the RF-52s? And on a seperate note, just for a little future planning, where exactly to the LR surrounds and rear surrounds go? I think the LR surrounds for 2-3 behind seating and at ear height? But of course I may be wrong. And I am unsure about the rear surrounds all together. The length of the room is about 22 ft and width about 12. Thanks in advance for any help and input.
  12. I am getting ready to pull the trigger of a set of 3 Palliser Bullets from TheaterSeatStore dot com. I was just wondering if anyone has sat in, or perferably owns/owned and can tell me if they are a good chocie (they are alot of money for something you cannot sit on first). If there are any other chairs that you all know of that are better, please let me know as well. Size if not really an issue since I'm getting a set. Also what is your advice on power recline? I want it, but I don't want it to go out in a year and me be stuck with a chair I can no longer recline! Like also thanks to all who help, the advice is always geat.
  13. Was just comparing the rc-3 and rc-62, on testfreaks dot com it rates rc-3 a 7.9 and the rc-62 is at a 9.4 Anyone have some experience with the two? Is the rc-62 a much better center channel?
  14. $100? He has $175 plus shipping, is that high for an rc-3 then?
  15. I have been debating on upgrading my center channel for a while now. Just saw an RC-3 in the garage sale section. Just wondering on what you all thought about pairing an RC-3 with my rf-52's? I have read good things about the rc-3, I'm sure it will be a good step up. Would the rc-62 be they way to go, or would the rc-3 fix my upgrade bug? Thanks for your help.
  16. I switched the thing off and now get the DTS Master. Thank ya'll for the help.
  17. Ok I went to the setup menu, under audio. It has a Digital Audio Output tab. Ubder that it has Dolby D/Dolby D +/Dolby TrueHD set to Bitstream. Also DTS/DTS-HD is set to Bitstream. Then at the bottom it states the following... When "Bitsream" is selected in each setting below with BD-Video Secondary Audio set to "On" the audio of BD-Viseo is converted and output as follows: -Dolby D +, Dolby TrueHD to Dolby Digital. -DTS-HD to DTS. Then it says... If you want to enjoy the orginal audio please set BD-Video Secondary Audio to "Off." I had it set to on, I am guessing I should switch it to off?
  18. I have the older fat one, which is loud when the fan kicks on so I don't use it for blurays, I use the Panasonic. It is ran with an HDMI cable, as is everything else. not sure about bit stream.
  19. I have a yet another question about something I can not figure out. How do I get DTS master on my Onkyo HT-RC180? I have watched a few movies (such as Cowboys and Aliens last night) that say it has dts master. Howeverwhen I switch through all the formats it does not pop up. I get a few other dts things, like direct, mono, PLIIz Height, nut no master? A few weeks ago I watched Conan the Barbarian and on my reciever and said dts master, and it sounded great. So I'm trying to figure out how to listen to it more. My whole set=up is in my sig. Thanks.
  20. Found out that the only devices that it works on is other onkyo ones. So I tried to use my cable box and then tv, which both have IR ports. However neither of them successfully turned the amp on and off. Is there anything special u have to do? Or just plug in the cord?
  21. Ok. I got sound from my speakers finally. Thank you wuzzzer. Any help on the trigger thing so the amp and receiver will turn on and off together? I have one end of the cable connected to the 12 volt trigger on the back of my receiver and the other to the input on the amp. When I hit power it sounds like the amp powers on the shuts back off immediately. If I touch the power button everything works? Not sure what's wrong here.
  22. The speaker wire from the speakers to the receiver. I pulled them out the receiver, and plugged them into the amp. So I am good there. Should I only be using a single rca cable? Or do I need two? And if I connect the wire to the input on the amp and the 12 volt trigger on the receiver, is that correct?
  23. Hello all, I Jus opened up a UPA-2 and an trying to hook it up to my Onkyo HT-RC180. here is what I did... I took the front L and R wires out of the reciever and hooked them up to the amp. I then connected a rca cable from the CH 1 and the CH 2 jacks on the back of the amp and connected then to the 2 pre out jacks on the back of my amp. I also plugged in the 12 volt trigger from my receiver and connected it to the input trigger on the amp. When I turn on the receiever the amp doesn't turn on with it. Then when I press the button on the amp and turn it out I still get no sound out if the front L and R speakers. Can anyone tell me what u am doing wrong and how to fix it. Thanks to anyone that can assist. And merry Christmas to all.
