  1. Well, I will call again on Monday. I hope they offer some sort of refund. It sucks in a way because they seem well built and they sure make my frontstage sound impressive, but I guess at this point it might be time to try to recoup some cash and grab a better quality amp like an Emo or something.
  2. Hello, I recently purchased a sub from in ID company and a reputable one at that. Try to picture this: This company makes a wonderful ported 15" sub which is 500w. They do not normally make one, but they built me a custom 15" sealed sub in a 20" cube, powered by the same 500w. After dialing it in and messing with settings, and even talking to the company...I come to this conclusion: I am completely underwhelmed by the sub's output. During the opening scene of the new Star Trek, there is a a bass heavy passage right after the opening credit. During this scene, before I could even feel or hear actual bass, I heard the driver knocking as it was being over driven. Keep in mind my sub gain was 12:00 and my AVR sub level was set at less than zero. So, after dialing it in per the company's instruction, the sub is now set so it won't make that noise...which is awesome...except that now the overall output and volume is almost worse than my old Polk PSW505. My question to you guys is this: What would make this sub behave this way? Over powered? Underpowered? Keep in mind, the company does sell sealed subs, which usually have more power than their ported cousins...but mine doesn't. I know sealed subs offer less output, but I've read in numerous locations that sealed subs also off the advantage of being incredibly hard to over drive because of the pressure and force being applied to the backside of the driver and it not being able to escape through a port. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
  3. OK...Just got off the phone with Audiosource. They told me to try unhooking RCA's from amps and then powering them on to see if I get noise. While that might be the only thing I haven't tried, he claims it will show whether or not the issue is my preamp signal or the amps themselves. Now, I HAVE tried powering them up with the AVR off and even unplugged, so I don't think it will matter. Here's where it gets interesting... The gentleman told me that this particular amp does NOT have relays in place to prevent any signal noise or backlash from whatever is causing the interference/noise to happen when powering up or down, just some sort of silicon thingy. From what he said, it sounds as if he is backing up my suspicion of lower end electronics being the culprit...thoughts?

    RS-3 help...

How would one get them back up and running if that was indeed the case?
  5. No...mostly because unbridged drops wattage to 50w. Beechnut may have a point....... Perhaps the popping is due to your configuration...... (Again; this could be a grounding issue). I suggest trying them unbridged to see if the symptoms disappear in this configuration........ If it proves anything...what's the fix at that point, different amp?
  6. No...mostly because unbridged drops wattage to 50w.
  7. Amps are new and the noise I have been referring to is coming from the speakers. Never had a sound like this when onkyo powered the speakers. Any thoughts on build quality...especially when compared to some nicer amps? I hope I can fix this but I am cautiously optimistic when these amps are $85 a piece.
  8. Doesn't matter. If nothing is on and I turn amps on first they still make bad sounds. Or if Avr is on and then I turn them on they still make unpleasant sounds.
  9. Sup dudes, I have an annoying problem I can't fix. I recently bought 3 Audiosource 100 amps and I run them bridged, one to each of my front stage. My issue is, no matter how I power them, no matter the combination of power strips, power conditioner, even powering them with an outlet from a different room...I can't get rid of the loud, nasty, scratchy popping sound every time I power up the amps. It's so bad it sounds as if it's going to cause damage to my speakers. First, what, if anything can I try to fix this? Second, would a better 3 or 5 channel amp like the Emotiva XPA3 or 5 not have an issue like this due to higher quality electronics? Keep in mind, the AUTO ON feature with these Audiosource amps doesn't really work so that is not an option. It really sucks, because the actual performance of these things is great for the money.

    RS-3 help...

Hey guys, just spoke with Dieter Von Klipsch and after swapping out non responsive tweeter in one cabinet for a working in another so both working tweeters are paired up, I came to the conclusion that the crossovers are not the culprit. I ordered 2 new tweeters today so hopefully that will do it. Thanks for all the input and I was VERY impressed with Klipsch's customer service.

Will swap out wires tomorrow morning and keep you guys posted...then call Klipsch.

    RS-3 help...

So...is that a yes? The gentleman from Klipsch didn't say crossover failure was impossible, but he said the odds of it happening in a PAIR of speakers and effecting them both the same exact way were astronomical...especially from just sitting in storage.

    RS-3 help...

Not tweeter. Hooked it up to aaa battery and it made the noise he said it should. Also played music through it. That worked, but music was soft. Hard to believe crossover failed the same tweeter in both speakers. Just to clarify with you guys are both tweeters in these types of surrounds supposed to be as loud and playing same information?

    RS-3 help...

will do! Klipsch has tweeters in stock and gentleman on phone was almost certain it wasn't a crossover. Said maybe they need to be blasted with something at a moderately high volume to wake them up because they've been sitting so long.

    RS-3 help...

Don't have meter. Klipsch said to create a circuit to check bad tweeter. Not sure how to do it but I guess I'll try...do lead wires just unclip? Are they soldered?

    RS-3 help...

Towel, no towel both of these things are smoked I guess. Pulled drivers out enough to make sure all wires are connected and intact, which they are. I just can't believe both speakers have the same problem.

Will do...going to try this tonight or tomorrow.

Both...either way my ear detects nothing from that tweeter with my face right up against the speaker.

    RS-3 help...

2 separate speakers...same side have no output from tweeter and yes, they were brand new in box. Womans mother died and she found some unopened gear in her possession.
  21. Posted in technical as well. What would cause one tweeter in an rs-3 to not produce sound other than being blown? Both speakers fail to produce sound from the right hand side tweeter and both speakers are brand new. Opinions?
  22. Maybe internal wiring isn't all together...will check that but any other suggestions would be great.
  23. Hello there, I just purchased a pair of RS-3's from Craigslist that were brand new in the box. I was stoked...until I realized sound is NOT emitting from the right side tweeter on both speakers. No matter the source, test tone, music, movie...the right hand tweeter on each surround is producing no sound...any ideas guys?
