  1. I can only afford one upgrade at a time sadly enough. So i have to prioritize them one at a time. I looked at the back of the sticker and they are revision IV, RF-82. Thank you much, Terry.
  2. Hello, thanks for the heads up. Where is the sale at? Since i am just starting to get into higher end audio i am unfamilar with the different brands and makes. what are the benefits for the HSU VTF-3 MK4 over other subs? Thank you Kindly, Terry
  3. Hello, thanks for the quick response. when i got home, i went and changed the settings for the speakers and the crossover. I first tried LTE+speaker and set the crossover frequencies for the front to 80 while leaving it on large. It sounded much better. Then i switched the front speakers to small and the sub output to only LTE, it sounded about the same. In both cases the subs crossover was set to 120. Is there a reason why its best not to use LTE+ speaker? I was unable to really test it out since i got home near 10pm and didnt want to make enemies of my neighbors. I will try again tomorrow when people (most) arent sleeping. right now my center is from the quintets i was using before. I cant tell if it needs to be upgraded. I can hear the voices clear but they dont seem to come through as pronounced as the rest of the front audio does. Do you think i would do better with a center upgrade before the sub? Thanks again for all the help.
  4. Hello, thanks for responding. I am confused, arent RF-82 speakers full range? How does setting the xo on the sub leave the bass management to the avr? I think i used the LFE output for the sub. Where else should i have plugged it into, i am using a denon avr-1911? Thanks again for responding. Terry
  5. Thank you for responding, i am pumped to have something better than the satellites i had before. I dont think i have any loudness setting on, but i can check. I am using a denon avr-1911 (its next to be upgraded after sub) i used the auto setup function using the microphone. Currently the front speakers are set to full range speakers and the rear speakers are set to small speakers as they are still satellites. The left and right speaker outputs on the back of the sub, are they to help sync the audio or are they for running speakers off of the sub's amp? I had a feeling that running dual-wiring wouldnt be effective just plugging them into the amp. Thank you for letting me know, because i am sure i would have done it within the next week or so. Thanks you again, Terry
  6. Hello, I just upgraded my front speakers to some killer RF-82's but now my sw-350 sub doesn't seem to be able to keep up. The bass goes from being a bit to subtle to shaking everything and never giving me that nice clean rumble.. I also noticed that, as i increase or decrease the volume, the rf-82 and sw-350 don't seem to scale together. My living room is not very big but i plan to keep the same setup when i buy a new house in a few years. Any thoughts on a sub that would compliment the towers and give a nice clean rumble throughout the room? I was thinking of going with the sw-115 as listed in the RF-82 home theater setup, but am a bit scared of the 800+ price tag. I am open to any brands of the same quality. How do you hook in the speakers outputs from the sub? Should i? A side question: Does dual-wiring really help out? From my perspective it doesn't seem to be much different than just getting a bigger gauge wire. Any incite would be appreciated. Thanks, Terry
  7. Thanks for the response, but i think cable sleeves will just add one more toy to her toy bin. So far the moto, out of sight out of mind has been working. I do like the look of it though, but i think my chica would frown apon its appearance as it looks to "manly". thanks all.
  8. Thank you all for responding. Youthman, i was thinking of going the raceway idea, like these: http://cableorganizer.com/surface-raceways/latching.html but i would be looking at 90 bucks or so to run the wires. I also forgot to mention, I live with my girlfriend so it must be "pretty". So i am not sure the conduit idea would work out. Does anyone know of a good place to buy wire organization? Thanks all Terry
  9. Hello, I need to run cables around my living room and then to the ceiling. But i am unsure how to do it without spending a fortune on cable runners. I have a 18 month old daughter who would love to pull on the wires if the are visible. I am currently renting so i don't want to go into the walls and ceiling. Any help would be much appreciated. Terry
  10. First off thank you all for responding. The way i understand zoning is the audio is put out in its primal state to another secondary amp which is responsible for driving the speakers? My plan was to have a completely separate system for music utilizing this fact. I wanted to keep it to just a 2.0 system, since i don't plan to have a sub i wanted to use floor speakers that can produce the full sound im looking for. I was thinking something similar to RF 82's. Let me know if i am wrong as i am new to the whole audio scene. Thanks Terry
  11. Hello All, I recently setup my home theater with Quintets and the sw 350 sub. I love them for movies, but music seems lacking. I am running a Denon 1911 receiver. My thought is to get a pair of nice floor speakers and hook them up to zone 2 for my musical enjoyment. Hopping to scratch the noggins of everyone's experience on its performance and which floor speakers to get as well as any amp i would need to power the beasts. I like a range of music but i tend to lean towards dub step and house. I love bass, but clean precise base: not overpowering sloppy bass. Thank You, Terry.
  12. Thank you for replying. What do you think about buying refurbished receivers? I ask because i would prefer to stay below 500 if possible without hurting my overall satisfaction of my home theater. Thanks Again, Terry
  13. Hello All, I just ordered the new Quintet and SW-350 sub setup, not sure which receiver to go with. My available finances are as little as possible while providing adequate power and clarity to the speakers with HDMI inputs and one HDMI output to the TV. I am not against used or refurbished i just don't want to get something with a burned out channel. I do plan to upgrade my setup later in life, but have no plans in the foreseeable future since i am still finishing up school. Thanks in advance. Also be gentle, i am a home theater beginner. Terry.
  14. That does seem like a great deal. But i have to wait 6 more weeks to make my purchase. so the order in which i would buy is: Receiver/floor speakers, center, sub, surround?
  15. I live in Long Beach, CA. My initial budget is pretty dynamic, the only problem is, the more i spend the less i can spend later on. i have a finite amount of money to last me for the year. So i want to get something that i will be happy with and can expand on, but not something that i will cause me to be eating mac n chz for the rest of the year. That being said, i think around 1500 for the speakers and receiver would be doable, maybe a little more. Just trying to avoid living on ramen while enjoying awesome sound quality Thanks again for all the awesome feedback. I am getting a good idea of the direction i want to go in. Will a pair of floor speakers really put enough bass out to avoid music and movies sounding empty and lacking depth? How do you put spaces in your posts? i put a space in the message when i type it but then when i post it, its always run together.
  16. I would like to avoid buying a setup now to just sell later on to buy a new setup. I think buying nice speakers, speaker by speaker, would be the best idea. I am just worried about my first purchases becoming outdated as i buy my last ones. I have noticed that you normally get a better deal when you buy sets as apposed to a single component at a time. As for the volume, i like it pretty loud: within reason. I would say the intensity of a louder movie theater would probably be close. I just don't want to reach the max volume and be sad it cant go higher. It would be used for both movies and music. I love all kinds of music: rap, rock, new age, techno, country, classical.. etc. As far as movies, i tend to go more for action but i touch in comedies and a few others frequently. I wont be able to pick anything up for another month and a half. I try not to look to much until i have money in hand; otherwise my credit cards will get abused. Thanks for all the replies, i feel like through this forum my HTS will sound amazing.
  17. Hello, Thank you all for replying. Can anyone tel me what an AVR is? Also what features should i look for in a receiver? what kind of speaker inputs should i get? Since i am strapped for cash, should i start with a receiver and front speakers then expand when i can afford it? Are the rf-62 the best option in my case? How much should i expect to pay for a pair used in near perfect condition? Thanks all, Terry.
  18. Hello all, Just getting into audio systems. I want to get a really nice setup but don't know much about it. What im looking for is an all around good system. I listen to a lot of music ranging from techno to barry white and enjoy watching Blu-ray movies. I live in an apartment, but i plan to buy a house in the next few years so i would prefer something that works well for both. Currently, my apartment is in 20x12x10 (L,W,H) ft. My hope is for 5.1 setup. As i look through the different systems that come pre-assembled, i notice a lot of them have surround speakers in place of rear speakers, is that the best option? The two sets i was looking at where: http://www.klipsch.com/rf-52-ii-home-theater-system http://www.klipsch.com/f-10-home-theater-system aesthetically i like the rf 52's but the price is a bit intimidating. What is the difference between the two sets? If you believe a different setup is more applicable to my scenario, please let me know; I am not hard set on either of those. I am also oblivious to which receiver would work the best for my needs and expectations. Things i plan to run through the receiver: HTPC HD Satelite TV Playstation 3 Blu-Ray I would love for them all to use hdmi: cleaner. I am on a budget, a dynamic one, as i am still finishing up my degree. Thank you in advance for aiding a newbie.
