  1. Ok guys, thanks for the input. you're right adoremusic, ive never seen any here before, I think thats why I got excited. I would prefer ones that come in this color though, but Im sure ill have to wait a while before I find them close enough
  2. Hey guys, These are on sale local and im wondering what you think they might actually be worth, I have seen most pairs go on here for around $1000 give or take, and these aren't in the best of condition. http://manitoba.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-electronics-Speakers-Klipsch-la-scala-W0QQAdIdZ393876768
  3. Ok, thanks for the input. You really like the speakers? What kind of harman kardon do you have there, because I have an AVR 3600 and am wondering what they would sound like set up to them.
  4. Hi, I am interested in buying a pair of Chorus 1's off of someone in my area, so it will be a local pick up, and he is asking $800 for them. He sent me some pictures and they seem to be in tredmendous condition, and he said he recently replaced the crossovers with some of Bob's. I think that $800 is a little high, and have seen countless pairs here go for $300-600. What do you guys think?
  5. Hi, I have a pair of Heresy I's with the old school screw tighten terminals in the pack and I am wondering if you guys know where I can get a pair of terminal cups that say Heresy I on them? Or would I have to settle for just a pair of generic terminal cups?
  6. Sad news...my amp just died. It was nothing spectacular, just an older Nikko 7075, but i had grown slightly attached to the nice blue glow haha. Now i am stuck with my back-up a harman kardon 330i powering a pair of heresy I's, and for me, it isn't powerful enough (20WPC) and it is too thin sounding. I am looking for advice/guidance/help. I am looking to replace this amp with something better. In the price range of around $250-300. I don't mind whether or not it is new or used, however having this one die on me, it would make me feel better if it were new or checked my a tech. My listening room is around 10x18ft, listening to it along the long side. I listen to just about every kind of music, hip hop, jazz, rock, classic ,reggae (love it all except country haha). I would be very willing to try something tube related, however i know at my price point i don't have tons of options. I listen to my music at a moderate to low volume about 70% of the time, and the other 30% i crank it and fall into a good CD. If there are any other questions i need to answer, ask them and i'll reply. Any suggestions, thoughts or direction would be great. Maybe one of you guys are looking to get rid of some equipment cause of the upgrade bug. Get back to me with some responses ASAP please, thanks in advance guys. (ps, i was previously suggested to try a Denon 2000r, which i thought would be great however i couldn't afford to uprade at the time, and now i can't find one for less than $650 online...)
  7. Hi, this amp is on sale in my city and i have been thinking about getting an inexpensive tube amp to pair with my Heresy I's for a little while now to kind of get my feet wet when it comes to tube amps. Is this a good deal? seems kind of expensive for the shape it is in. If this is not a good venture, i am open to suggestions/thoughts on what i should do. As long as the build was simple enough i would be willing to try making a kit or something from scratch, however i have no previous electronic experience, i can only solder. Thanks in advance guys. http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-electronics-Dynaco-SCA35-Tube-Amplifier-W0QQAdIdZ328552911
  8. Bought cables from there recently and i was super pleased with them. They were super cheap (shipping to Canada ended up costing more than all the cables i ordered) but i used them to replace a simple connection from my computer to RCA and it was a night and day noticeable improvement over the ones i was currently using. From my experience, i would for sure recommend them.
  9. I see what you are getting at Moray. Only thing is that for this set up i am going to stay with the Heresies. I just need a good amp that can drive them well and get me a feel into tube amps. This is always remain as a system somewhere in my house i am sure. Next summer when i have some more time (won't be a full time student then) and a few extra dollars, i plan on upgrading my speakers by building a set of cornscalas. I see tons of great reviews, love the looks of them and love the idea of them too. And for about $1500 you can't go wrong it seems . Till then these little boxes will have to do me
  10. Ok I'll look into these. Just adding on to what Moray said, i like to listen to my music.....loud.... sometimes haha. Real loud. So maybe only 8 watts per channel on the heresy I's might not enough? right now my Nikko 7075 a solid state rated at 42 wpc, and i basically max it out when im in the zone, however, i am probably only getting maybe 15 or so of those watts as decent power. Hence why i would really like a new amp that can drive a good amount of clean power into these speakers. Also, one other question, if i were to get a tube amp, would i need a tube pre-amp to go with it? would solid state be ok? i listen to all of my music now off the AUX input through my computer, and i soon plan on adding a CD player (tomorrow night), however i don't see a need for a phono input for a little while yet forseeing as it isnt in the budget or a big concern.
  11. Thanks for the input guys, it has helped me look into some things. I hae been searching and i am very interested in a pair of Antique Sound lab wave 8 monoblocks? Is anyone familiar? i have read a few great reviews. They are simple, inexpensive and seem like they would be a good start into tube amplification. Does anyone know where i could get a pair? I've seen them from $100-400 being sold online but none currently available that can ship to Canada. I will keep looking, but any help you guys can offer would be great. Thanks
  12. Hey guys, I have been enjoying my new pair of Heresy I's with an old Nikko 7075 for a while now and i think it sounds pretty good, but i have been hearing a lot about how tubes can make a really good pair with Heresy speakers. I was planning on tackling a DIY tube kit, not sure which one yet, something inexpensive just to get my feet wet. I am mostly wondering if there is anyone in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on this forum with a tube amp? i know the odds are low, but i have never heard a tube amp and i wouldn't mind hearing one before set out to make one. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great, thanks in advance
  13. Ok thanks guys. looking into those. One last in city one i found was the Pioneer SA-9500ii. Any thoughts?
  14. Realistic SA-2001 Integrated Amplifier. There is a used one in seemingly good shape in my city that i found on Canuck audio mart. Thoughts on this amp?
  15. I would not have a problem with an amp and a pre-amp, however i doubt the combo would be worthwhile to seek out at under $300 for the most part. And im looking into the dennon because it seems great, except shipping on an amp that weighs about 70 pounds shipped to canada might make the transaction not worth while. And i live in Winnipeg Manitoba. I have been searching Kijiji and have not turned up much, however, i will keep looking. Is it much better in Calgary for used amps? If i find a great one and it is in great shape and a great deal, shipping from there or a pick up might be much more economical. Thanks for the input so far guys, keep it coming, this is really helping. I would consider myself a very novice audiophile, only really being able to listen to and buy some respectable stuff in the last couple years. None of my friends quite understand it all haha
  16. Hi, I recently bought a pair of HII's and i love them, but right now i have them hooked up to an old harman kardon 330i. I am pretty pleased with the sound right now, however, i have only ever heard them on my other receiver ( a new hardman kardon AVR 3600). I am wondering if any of you guys an recommend an amplifier that is under $300 for them. I plan on upgrading them to HIII's this summer. I listen to just about every genre of music. Right now i i play most of my music from my mac connected through an RCA cable and would one day like to add a turntable and CD player, so i think i ould be fine with a totally analog 2 channel amp. All HDMI stuff can go through my AVR. Any thoughts or suggestions from you guys? Living in Manitoba Canada, i do not have a chance to hear many set ups. There are zero dealers in my province who carry any heritage products, and my Heresy's are the only ones i have ever seen in my life. Any input would be appreciated.
  17. Alright, so first off, thank you guys for the input.Today i went and picked up the speakers. I bought them off an 80 year old man who used them for 3-4 years in the 90's so that he could MC an annual bocci ball tournament he had with his friends. The sole purpose he bought and used them. Visually, they are in really good condition, i would say 8.5/10, maybe 9. I took the grills off and inside looks about 2 weeks old tops. I have been listening to them for a couple of hours now and i hve to say that i am in love. The mids and highs are far far far far superior to my RF-82's. Way more clear, way less harsh and just more enjoyable. They do have less bass, but they still have a great amount for the application they are being used for right now. I haggled him down to $350. Money in the bank in my opinion right now. My only concern right now is where i am going to find a pair of cornwalls next summer for my Klipsch progression haha. I have a couple questions about them though, one, is it possible to change the terminal in the back so that they can be connected via banana plugs? Because right now it is using the old school hook up and i would prefer banana plugs. And secondly, these are in black, and i would prefer if they were the birch colour i see many of them in. Is it possible to change the color and keep the wood finish? I can't recall seeing any projects as such. And lastly, i havent opened them up yet, but when i do, i am wondering what i should be looking for as signs of wear/tear and problems?
  18. Thanks for the input guys. I am still trying to get in touch with the guy selling them. I e-mailed him, he replied to my initial email but i havent gotten anything back yet about meeting or anything further. The more i am thinking about it, the more i want these heresy speakers. I am really hoping it works out because this is the first and only time i have ever seen speakers like this before in my city. Does anything know of anywhere else/anyone in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada?
  19. Hi, I have read countless threads on this forum, this is my first time actually posting anything. Seems you guys have a lot of knowledge and know how and i want to have the same when it comes to Klipsch speakers. Bought my first pair about 2 years ago, RF-82's. Absolutely love them. From the second i brought them home. Since i got them i had them hooked up to a harman kardon AVR 3600 and thought it was a good combo, however, recently i have been very interested in some vintage audio and stumbled across a harman kardon HK 330i and it is almost as good. Almost disheartening considering my 3600 was $1000 and the 330i was $30. However, i digress, i am in contact (shady at best really) with a guy in my city who is selling a pair of Herey ii's with sequencial serial numbers. I have read a lot about them and am almost certain i will buy them. He is asking $390. I am not sure if this is reasonable or not, i am assuming maybe? however i know nothing about the shape they are in yet or working order, i have only seen one picture so far and haven't listened to them. I am currently a student, (probably the youngest guy on this forum it seems....thank god i am learning about klipsch heritage before i blew all my cash on crap (namely anything not klipsch haha)) and i am pretty strapped for cash, so i have to be pretty certain this a worthwhile deal for me to act on it. Any thoughts on it? how will they compare to my RF-82's? Is there any basic work that needs to be done to almost all old Heresy speakers? etc. etc., from what i have read so far, you guys know the drill, this isn't your first rodeo.
