  1. Maybe you guys misunderstood due to the way I typed the original post. Negotiations were done through e-mail and I didn't devalue his equipment I just told him what his stuff was worth to me and what I'd be willing to pay for it. I would have prefered to pick up the newer reference II line and wasn't going to pay $2k for his. And I also had no interest in an RW-10D and would have tried to unload it after the purchase but since it's and RSW-10D I will probably keep it. I made an offer and he accepted. And as stated earlier by someone else my initial thoughts are he either (A) knew absolutely nothing about this sytem or what it's probably worth or (B) stole the system or © needed the cash and wasn't willing to hold out for a better offer. I'm not a dog eat dog kind of individual. My curiosity just lead me into a great deal. Don't think i should feel bad about that, and I don't.

  2. PLEASE READ. I would like to issue an apology to the Klipsch forum and more importantly Jerome. Im not sure what his handle is here on the forum but he is a member. My post yesterday was immature, misleading, and not nice. Im embarrassed and remorseful for it but wanted everyone to know. He was on the forum last night and read the not so nice things I wrote. Rightfully so he pulled the agreement. I meant no harm or disrespect to anyone. I honestly was just so excited for the catch on the system and couldn't contain myself. I hope you all will forgive me. Im sorry.

Found an ad on CL late last week titled Klipsch 5.1 Surround Sytem ($2000). Curious to see what system it was I clicked on the link. The guy had listed all brand new in the boxes pair RF-82s fronts, RC-62 center, a pair of RS-52s surrounds, and a RW-10D sub. I thought well thats not a bad deal so I messaged the guy to see if it was still available, didn't hear anything for 3 days. Then I get a message saying they are still available. So I ask him a bunch of questions... How long have you had em? Is it the newest reference II line? etc... Turns out its not the newest reference line it's the line manufactured from 2006-10 so I use that against him saying that system isnt worth as much now and also that it's not the sub I want and I'll have to get rid of it after I buy because he was unwilling to sell seperate. We set up a time for me to come take a look at the system so I did yesterday. Sure enough it was the speakers he had listed all unopened in the boxes so I opened one of each to pull them out to take a look at them. So I began negotiating and again telling him it's not the exact system I'm really wanting(even tho it really is the system I want minus the RW-10d) and that it isn't worth $2k anymore due to the newer line being out. I got this complete sytem for $1k! And here's the real kicker that I left out... he mistyped the subwoofer in his add... it wasn't a RW-10d, it was a RSW-10d!!!! Huge difference! Couldn't believe it when I went to look at the speakers. I almost feel bad especially since I wasn't really in the market for a new system but could not pass this up. I'm picking it up tomorrow and paying him his $1k cash. Has anyone else ever gotten a deal this good? I'm sure some people have but I had to share the story. I can't wait to get it all setup. However I am trying to unload my current system now listed in my signature below. Just the 5 Klipsch Icon X line speakers. I have an ebay auction ending today at 1pm eastern time if anyone is interested or if it doesn't sell there pm me all reasonable offers + shipping. Thanks guys cheers!

  3. That's unfortunate sorry man. I just browsed real quick and found no c-3s for sale anywhere.. I would think your best bet would probably be a C-2 or one of the new C-20s but the cosmetics have changed a bit. Or as you said you could upgrade to a reference RC- but not sure how well it would match your F-3s. If you're patient I'm sure a C-3 will pop up sooner or later but who knows when and what condition. Hopefully someone else could shed some light on this for you.

  4. I have to admit I was really excited to try this out, I love THX demos... however I had seen this one on a Magnolia demo disc I got from bestbuy years ago when I first bought a bluray player. Its called Amazing Life. There are 2alot others called Tex Moo Can and Cavalcade. To your credit tho the amazing life one is by far my favorite.

  5. When I bought my lastest LED offering I went to several stores and watched the 55 to 60" sets. There was 4 of us (double date) looking at these sets. IIRC we went to Bestbuy, HHGregg, and Sams club. We all agreed that the Sharp Quattron was the best picture was saw.

Best PQ cannot be determined in a store. Its bright in the store and there are a million other tvs surrounding it. PQ can only be determined once a set is properly calibrated in a dark room. The Sharp Quattron was a good choice tho

  6. Well most people are telling you to go LED... it's all personal preference I guess. However most reviewers reveal that a properly calibrated plasma will out perform an LED in a PQ test anyday... mainly due to plasmas ability to produce deeper black levels. However cosmetics alone LEDs are extremely attractive. I just care more about PQ than cosmetics but to each his own.

LED ≠ OLED Two entirely different animals. One is LCD filter based, the other is completely emissive.

sorry i wasn't speaking about your recommendation I completely agree with you. I was referring to all the previous qoutes recommending LED

  8. What's best depends on a number of things... Viewing area, 3d or 2d, etc... there are a lot of write ups on the differences between the two just google search. Basically if you do most of your viewing at night or in a dark room plasma will give you better results. LED would serve you better during daytime viewing or a room with windows. Also plasma is gonna give you better off axis viewing than LED which might be important for others in your viewing area depending on how your room is setup. Plasma also is the better bang for your buck right now. There is much more that might affect your particular situation in making your decision so you might search a lil more but I tried to hit on some of the more common comparisons. Cheers

  10. Wanted to make my first post here on the forum and share a couple youtube videos of my setup (the audio nor video are either very good because I used my Droid X to record them but just wanted to show off the layout and aesthetics of my room). I am extremely jealous of all you guys that have dedicated home theaters however I love my living room setup. I live in a townhome and currently have no space for a dedicated home theater however I am considering finishing a portion of my large garage and making a 15 x 11 ft. home theater and filling it with one of the Klipsch Reference lines. My current living room setup includes:

    Klipsch XF-48 Right & Left
    Klipsch XL-23 Center
    Klipsch XB-10 Surrounds
    Onkyo TX-SR608 Reciever
    Samsung BD-C6900 BD Player
    Toshiba HD-A30 HDDVD Player
    Samsung PN50-B550 Plasma
    Logitech Harmony 510

This is an ideal setup for my room. The Klipsch Icon X line is a beautiful speaker and blends in with my decor perfectly. The XF-48s belt out a respectable amount of bass especially for my small space although if I didn't have neighbors that I cared for I would definitely add a sub. I tried to make the whole setup very clean and aesthetically appealing and think I've succeeded. You will see no wires anywhere. I couldn't have the place wired when constructed but ran new trim up the corners and along the baseboards for my surrounds. If I had any complaints about the Icon X line it would be with the XL-23 center. I've also read this from many others who have this system. Just wish Klipsch would have constructed a better center for this system that matched the XF-48s with the same size midrange woofers and passive radiators also, kind of like Definitives Mythos 10. But overall it's a great system. Let me know what you guys think and thanks for all info I've already gathered from this forum long before my first post. Cheers!
