  1. Thanks for the idea, i'll keep it in mind, it looks like a beast. Weights almost 100 lbs more then the sunfire, 127 lbs is crazy.
  2. I was thinking about getting a sunfire hrs 12. The dealer wants 1200 for it but he doesn't have one on display. I told him its hard to make a decision without seeing one. I know it would kick my kipsch sw 450 *** tho. I have the icon series so its kind of sad the sub will worth more then all the speaker together.
  3. Thanks for the ideas but wouldn't a xpa-5 be a little to power for everything except the towers. The onkyo just has been annoying off and on because I can't get it off audyssy and one day it will sound good and the next it will just be sound bad. I don't know if its the blu rays or the player or the avr. Well I just bought a pioneer 62fd for 150 out the door with black tie and tax, think I got a pretty good deal. Going to see how everything goes with that before I buy something. A guy might pay me $875 for my onkyo and a klipsch sw 450 sub. I figured if I could get that then maybe get the pioneer and a Sunfire hrs12 subwoofer.. I can get the pioneer sc 75 for 1300, and then dealer for the Sunfire hrs 12 wants $1200 so that a maybe. A pioneer rep told me today that the pioneer does push 135 wpc and if I run 9 channels then the 6,7,8,9 channes splits the watts.
  4. I know I want to do something because when I turn off the sub its just like listening to the tv but its more detail and louder no bass at all with the volume set at 60. I only watch movies, I know my blu ray players is 5 yrs old so I want to upgrade that, I didn't know if I upgrade the blu ray then that will improve some stuff. Didn't know if the pioneer would eliminate the need for another amp. The amount of money I have in my onkyo and then adding something small like a emotive xpa 200 would be a little below the pioneer.
  5. Right now I have a onkyo 809, running at 7.1, a forum I seen said the amp is probably running 25 wpc, so not good for me. I was debating on buying a 2 or 3 channel emotiva amp to pair with my onkyo, but a audio shop had Pioneer elite sc 75 and he said they do 135 wpc at 7, but if I get that one then i'd like to run 9 channels[sounds like fun]. I can get the pioneer for 1400 out the door, and I might have the onkyo sold for around 500. Is the pioneer really worth a extra $ with no extra amp because it pushes enough wpc, or would I need a amp no matter what because the pioneer is overrated and pushes way less wpc. Is there any difference that a person would notice between the 2 avrs besides the wpc rating? And another question blu ray players, which is better the Samsung bdp7500, or the Pioneer elite 62fd. there's about a $80 difference.
  6. Thanks, what do you think about the UPA 700 bi amped to my towers idea? UPA700 to small so go with xpa 3?. Somebody said the upa 700 will give a better overall sound quality then just letting the onkyo do all the work.
  7. I was looking at the rw12 for 280, but I didn't know if the x ref will blow 1 or 2 of the rw12 out of the water, but I was also looking at the Outlaw subs. Its just hard to decide because specs are different on all of them. x ref is $620, Outlaw when on sale is $599, and then the Klipsch rw12 $280, Is it one of those things you get what you pay for.
  8. Emotiva is having a sale so I figured maybe its finally time to get a amp, I called and talked to a rep from emotiva, he suggested 2 choices, 1. UPA-700, 80x7, and if i go with that and bi amp the towers, and then run my center and front surrounds off the amp, and then run my rears off the onkyo 809. or 2. XPA-3, 200x3, and run my surrounds off the onkyo. the xpa-3 cost $200. At first he was about the xpa3 then i asked him about bi amping the upa700 and then he changed his mind and said the upa700 would be the best way. Any words about their X Ref 12 sub.
  9. The onkyo calibrated everything, but i changed it, to full band for my towers, 80 hz for the center and surrounds. the dB's for sides is -3.5, just changed center -3, everything else is around -4.5, the sub is at -5. the calibration had the distance right but had 40 hz for everything I changed that and it had the center at -3.5. the thing that bugs me is that voices in alot of blu rays can barely be heard so i keep turning the sound up but the surround gets to loud. the equalizer settings i left alone so that is set to off. the onkyo will switch itself to the proper surround sound when the blu rays start,
  10. Thanks for the help, maybe i'll hold off for a little bit, and consider options. its just seems like something is missing when watching movies. something with the sound so i figured maybe a amp would help out, since some of the reviews i read about the onkyo 809 says that it will only put out 80x7, so i figured the emotiva help out the front and give more to the back. Is having the volume at 55 when watching movies a good cause for the emotiva xpa-3.
  11. Right now i'm debating on buying a 2 or 3 channel, to go with my Onkyo 809 avr. some of the options are emotiva xpa-3 which is 200x3 for $599 free S&H, upa-5 which is 80x5 but if i 3 channel it its 133x3 for $399 free S&H. Or just buy a 2 channel. my floors are 150 rms but the center is rated at around 90 rms and the surrounds are 75 rms. the onkyo volume is at 60 when watching movies, so i'd have to say its working hard for my 7.1 setup. the onkyo is supposedly rated at 135 watts, I guess the big question is if i do the 2 channel will that leave enough power for the center and other 4 and will it sound good, or if i should just go 3 channel and let the receiver handle the surround. money is a concern the most i'd want to go is the xpa-3, Or the really big question is should i just leave everything alone since I own the klipsch icon series from best buy and maybe the onkyo 809 is pushing them just fine. soon i'll be buying a Outlaw lfm-1 ex to make a 7.2 setup.
  12. I've been debating on getting another sub to go with my sw450. Ive been looking and reading and the best three under $350 is the RW12, the jamo, and Bic PL 200. Their all pretty close on paper. I'm guessing with that price range there is no distinct winner can anybody think of another sub that is better then these three in the same price range. my room is 16x13 with a 5 foot doorway in the middle of one wall. And I have the Icon V series from best buy. Whats your thought on which one is the best bang for the buck?
  13. I looked into the jamo, alot of reading tell ya what, from what I can get out of it is it comes down to room size. my room is 16x13 whit a big *** opening in the middle of one wall. but all the reviews were about having 2 of them, So I'm pairing which ever one I get with the sw450. So its hard to tell which ones will compliment the other. I guess the question is which one hits harder. For some reason i'm leaning towards klipsch.
  14. the room is 16x13, with a 5 foot open doorway in in the middle of one wall so setup will be fun that is the den. the living room is 20 by 13 but is a open concept with kitchen and dinning room, so i'm sticking with the den area. i was goin to get the vs14 but vanns and best buy said the vb15 would sound better. I don't know the vs14 would work with the den room setup. I looked at the jamo and its rated the same at the rw12 except for the jamo is enclosed box. so i don't know which one would be better.
  15. Right now I have a Onkyo 809, 130w x 7, Everything is Klipsch, The front is VF 36, side speaker are VB15 and Rear are VB15 also with VC 25 Center with a Klipsch SW 450 sub, But my question is if the Klipsch rw12 d would be a good finisher, or just stick with the one because i wont notice much of a difference. I'm also running into issues with the onkyo because i had a 609 and jumped up the 809 but I'm just not noticing a big difference with the new receiver just seems like the surround sound should be better in the blu rays, I did the whole adessey microphone thing but just doesn't sound right. I know you can never have to many subwoofers, The RW is 299 at newegg.com and I was thinking about getting it.
  16. Thanks for the help, I found out I was burning up the receiver because the speakers wanted more power and the receiver was trying to provide it. So i went out and got a Onkyo 609. which is a 100 w at 8 ohms, so now i'm debating on bi-amping the vf 35's, I just don't know if the speakers can handle a 100w bi amped. I know the woofers can but what about the horn.
  17. I have the new samsung reciever and it is 7.2 channel, 120 w at 4 ohms and it has the bi amp feature. I was wondering if klipsch vf 35 towers can handle 120 w at 4 ohm, for the low and high feature for bi amp. or period if the towers alone can handle 120w at 4 ohms. I know the speakers are rated 160w rms at 8 ohm.
