  1. ---------------- On 10/21/2004 9:45:32 AM Tom Adams wrote: I was going by what I heard on Fox News this morning and their interview with Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson. I guess I could've misunderstood what Anderson said or was asked, but it sure sounded like they werre gonna do more than PC trouble shooting. For instance, the lady doing the interview asked Anderson what the typical charge would be to have a VCR or DVD problem fixed. His response was that he wasn't sure since fees were different based on regions/locations. That sure sounds like A/V to me. I'm assuming you know that Best Buy bought that company. Tom ---------------- You misunderstood. Those types of "problems" would be like if someone hooked up their VCR incorrectly or if they reversed the polarity on their speakers--they most certainly don't go and "fix" VCR's or DVD players on site. As previously mentioned, they also set up home theater equipment. Yes--they were purchased several years ago. I work at Best Buy, I've attended the trainings for Geek Squad by "Geek Squad Agents", read the literature, took the tests, see what they charge, and what they will do. I didn't want to say where I worked as everyone here hates Best Buy employees. . .rightfully so in most cases I'm afraid.
  2. Lol. I'm certainly hoping that was in a joking frame of mind. First of all--Geek Squad Agents really don't know squat about audio (most of them), they work on PC's, that is what they do. Second of all--their services are those which forum members can not provide, they SET UP the system, they don't make the recommendations, or are at least NOT supposed to. Best Buy does not want to affiliate itself with Geek Squad anymore than a "subsidiary". They want people to think of it like a "partnership". There are a lot of people that don't like Best Buy, vice versa regarding the Geek Squad. They charge a lot of money sure--but their service is indeed good and they do indeed know what they are doing. Thats worth a price premium to most folks. I've attended the meetings and trainings and sell this stuff. It is folly to think that a PC technician with good personal skills will render a forum of audio gurus obsolete. Why do you think I come here for my questions?
  3. Can I use the F2's as "surround" speakers? Use those as my mains for the time being, enabling me to snag a C3 at the same time. Then when I have enough money (saving whatever is left of the purchase of course) getting the F3's, placing them in front as my mains and delegating surround duties to the F2's? There are a few reasons why I prefer the Synergy series (area, and I recieve a slight discount on this series, which helps). I really appreciate the help guys. Lastly, why do you guys think my sub sucks? Lol. I know its not absolute top of the line. . .but it surely isn't "bad" is it? I haven't really heard it play much but just figured that it would fit with the speakers I'm considering. And I want to stay all Klipsch--I don't want a different brand for sub. I'm brand oriented.
  4. The time is near approaching when I will go down to Best Buy and purchase my first "true" HT setup. I have decided through listening that I much prefer the Klipsch Synergy series over the Athenas or JBLs etc. Now my question to you folks is what I should buy for the speakers and how important it is to buy the same "number" (such as C1-, F-1, etc.) I am on a somewhat limited budget but don't mind buying one piece at a time if it will behoove me to do so. My budget is $1,000 dollars. I already have the KSW-12 sub sitting here by itself . So now that I have the sub and the reciever--a Yamaha 5760--I need help with the rest of the system. My main usage for the speakers will be as follows: 50% Music (Pop, Rock, R&, 40% Video Games (XBox--supports Dolby Digital 5.1) and 10% DVD watching (Action flicks mostly). I would obviously prefer surround sound if possible but it isn't absoultely necessary to begin with. I absolutely love the F3's--and they DO fit in my budget but I wouldn't be able to get the surrounds and stuff for a few months (which isn't optimal but doable if it is worth it). I could otherwise purchase the F2's for the mains and pick up a center channel. Or I could get the F1's and everything all at once. Room size is 15x10 but certainly could go larger in the forseeable future--a 20x25 is likely. I hope thats everything needed . . .I'm sort of new to all of this but certainly appreciate any time put forth in recommendations. Thanks
  5. I have my 5.1 setup connected through a Creative Soundblaster Extigy. . .works pretty well, although I wish I would have gone the DD 5.1 route. . .oh well.
  6. Nah dude, I was talking about mine, didn't know if it would be considered gay or not. Lol And those modz rock. I am definetely going to do the light one and the stands out of pvc. Kick *** site. I will send you some pictures after I move to my new apartment. It won't compare with yours but. .I like it.
  7. Heh, sure. I think that it'll look pretty sweet. . .although I don't know about the dual monitor thing.
  8. Cool, I'm packaging up my 4.1's now. . .can't wait. Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to be positively SURE because I love my 4.1's and they sound damn nice.
  9. While on the topic, should I get those sweet *** lookin' Monster Cables to go with it?
  10. I have the Hercules Gametheatre XP. . .not a bad card I think.
  11. I work at Best Buy so I get a discount on the 5.1's . They would be brand spankin' new. So you think I should?
  12. I currently have a set of the 4.1's but have a chance to upgrade to the 5.1's for 8 dollars. Should I do it? I know that you have both and value your opinion. Thanks mate. And Bigbusa, you can tell me how I should get a different line of speakers but I do NOT value your opinion so you can feel free to not post in this thread. 13. You know BigBusa. . .you really get me angry and I'll tell you why. You make incorrect assumptions, tell lies, and know nothing of which you speak as far as it comes to the Promedia lines. Listening to them in the store doesn't count, sorry. Ppl come to this message board to get help and don't need to hear your trolling, which by the way; is exactly what you are doing. On another note, I happen to work at Best Buy and I sell quite a few Klipsch speakers, they are our number one selling speaker. And guess what. . .the rampant return rate that you speak of does NOT exist, at least not in my store. Most of the ppl that buy these speakers come back and rave about how great they are. I also own a pair of the 4.1's and they have been sounding great for 8 months now. Also, we just started selling Alienware computers in the store and guess what. . .they came bundled with Klipsch speakers. Heres a suggestion: get some facts and read up on what you are talking about so you don't make an *** of yourself.
  14. I was really looking forward to these speakers. . .and they haven't dissapointed (all of my friends are in total AWE!!). . .6 months and running. GO KLIPSCH!
