  1. One thing I have to say about these speakers is they like power even though they are very efficient. Before I went to the McIntosh amp, I had an Adcom 5802 amp driving the towers. They responded well to the 300 watts per channel - The dynamic sound of some movies were handled without any signs of fatigue.
  2. I just upgraded my system to drive my Reference 7 II speaker system that includes a Velodyne 15" powered sub (FSR-15). I replaced 2 Adcom amps with a McIntosh MC205 (200 x 5) and a B&K reference 50 with a Marantz AV7701 processor. I used the Odyssey setup but question the results a bit. Should I set all the speakers to small? What crossovers settings would you advise for the speakers themselves??
  3. I'm running 2 Adcom amps a 5802 2 (300 wpc) and a 5503 for the surounds (200 wpc) and I sometimes use it all for movies and music. My area is about 25 x 20 feet. Plus I have a Velodyne 300 wpc 15" sub. Bottom line you can never have enough power especially with some of the dynamic range of some of the movies out there,
  4. I will have one shortly in black with the box - I live near Chicago
  5. I've had my RF-7 II system for about 3 months now after replacing my previous system that consisted of 4 Altec Model 19s (had them for 35 years) and a Klipsch RC-7 center channel. The model 19s were essentially home versions of the Voice of the Theater speakers and weighed 160 lbs each so I am used to a large powerful sound. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality and "punch" these speakers deliver with a much smaller cabinet. I'm using some fairly large amps plus a powered sub with pretty good results. The room is 20 x 40 (in the basement) but I'm setup in roughly a 20 x 20 portion. I have the RC-64 II center speaker on order so I will be selling the RC-7 soon. I also had a smaller Klipsch suround system in my family room (Synergy) and a Academy center but a remodel and expansion of that room required me to sell them. Amazing story on the 4 Altec Model 19s (you may want to google them to see what they look like). I sold them to someone in Vietnam for almost double what I paid for them. Imagine being the buyer shipping 4 speakers to Vietnam with a total weight of 640 lbs. Simply Amazing!
