The use of masking panels for those few films that have shifting aspect ratios (I'm looking at you the hunger games, the dark knight, dark knight rises, transformers 2) makes for a better viewing experience. I wouldn't go any other way than a 2.35:1 screen after owning one. You can always mask down to 1.85:1 and open up the ratio for the majority of your movie watching experience.

Having the speakers behind the screen and not seeing where the sound comes from creates a wonderful experience that I wish I pursued a while ago. I'd do what I could to have your mains behind it

Well that is a nice looking spot for the screen I recently had contractors do a recessed alcove for my LCR and subs we had to move a few electrical circuits but no plumbing perhaps you could make it work somehow. The THX ultra in walls would also be stupendous as an option.

Trying to sell my stewart screen as it needs a home I have it boxed up and I will sell it for $1500 shipped PM me if interested.
120" mint 2.35:1 screen.

One thing I can comment on is I really enjoyed having the masking panels in place for watching all of the regular 16 x 9 content I popped in Jurassic Park and aliens and it is definitely nicer than without the panels

I won't be able to give you a review on the lens until this upcoming weekend my lens is the panamorph uh480 and I don't have the sled yet I have to wait on that for a deal since they are so expensive. I would be happy to give you a very detailed review on using the JVC internal anamorphic mode with this new anamorphic lens for all 2.35:1 material after I sit down this weekend and enjoy some movies with my wife
-
Well I have watched 2 movies in 1.78:1 since my panamoph lens won't be here until Friday and after the anthem calibrated the LCR I can hear any difference it sounds impeccable and I'm much happier with having the main speakers at your level and behind my screen as I've said before I wish I would have followed some of the members suggestions from the beginning and went this route Sergio I definitely suggest looking into Seymour's products they are absolutely beautiful build quality

Or maybe you could purchase youthmans 100 inch screen after he upgrades next month

Yes sir. The screen was $2882 for the curved model and it certainly can play 3d material. If you want the masking panels to match they are an additional $350 here is a link to the site this particular model was the c150.

Panamorph UH480 my friend. Purchaed a used mint condition one on eBay for $1999. The motorized sled I still have to get but most of the people I spoke with recommended getting these used since they are expensive. The sled I will get over the holidays.
-
Also I will give a review in detail over the difference of using the lens and using the zoom method I know that supposedly the anamorphic lens adds 20% brightness and 30% resolution utilizing all of the black pixel dead space on the top and bottom of the screen
-
I may do so this weekend when I have some time to properly flex the systems muscles but as of right now I've only tried 16 x 9 content and you leave my big toe alone Mike!

Let me correct myself there is an audible difference which is clear but not after the room correction has made its adjustments in trim level. Let's just say that after this project of yours Michael you will be much happier then before I know that I wish I had taken some of the forum members advice a couple years ago and did this from the start it is such a nice clean look that you will appreciate and you're beautiful theater
-
Seymour says .5db which I have attested to and the room correction software Took care of it there is literally no audible difference from my ears once the calibration finished at sweep and Michael I have 12 feet from my eyes to the screen and it's not until around 7 feet that you can see the weave with glasses on and the projector on

If you are using no subwoofer then I suggest full range if you are using a capable sub then around 80hz. For music I suggest using them alone no subwoofer. You may also yield nice results crossing them at 60hz and a sub to pick up anything below that. These are some of my all time favorite klipsch speakers.
