  1. Thanks for you help everybody..especially dndphishin. Went to the Rush concert Tuesday night..Forgot how great live Rock n Roll sounds. Walked out of the concert telling my buddy...I need BIG speakers that give me that live music feeling. Kinda felt bad standing next to my brother, who thinks his bose (God help him) 701's sound good. Well any Cornwalls for sale in the Pennsylvania area?

    Crackling...

ok, justed checked the part of Rat Race where John Cleese laughs on Chapter 3, on my basement HT (Paradigm titans and cc-70, Technics receiver). The crackling occurs in the exact same spot and occurs the exact same way. Ok, I'm convinced, its a DVD thing...one last experiment to do.... DTS

    Crackling...

Ohh yeah, forgot to say something.... I heard the same crackling on my Paradigm's when I watch movies too..haven't had the chance to verify if it occurs on the same movies though.

    Crackling...

Watched two movies on VHS last night. Didn't hear any crackling. These movies had ALOT of screaming, yelling and explosions. This leads me to believe it is a source problem. Next experiment will be with DTS movies...

    Crackling...

I also have noticed crackling coming from my center channel during some movies. I have a Reference 3 system and an Outlaw 1050. Kinda was upset when I first heard it while watching Rat Race. Played the scene when it occurs many times at different volume levels. The crackling occurred exactly the same all the time. I am convinced it is a source probelm. Rented alot of horror VHS tapes this weekend to watch(lots of screaming on them). I want to see if I hear anything on them. If its a digital thing, I shouldn't hear the crackling.....right?
  6. Well, if you ask my wife, she will say about $500 is the budget for the speakers. I will probably use an old Sony receiver until I find something else to run them. I want to get the speakers first. I really don't mind waiting for the amp. You know what they say, the hunt is better then the kill. But MY budget for the speakers could go up to $800 or so (hope we win that bowling league). If the feeling is that I'll need a sub with the Heresys, maybe I'll stick to the Fortes. Sorry, almost forgot, one more question. Do you think I need to put these on stands of some sort. (Fortes or Heresys). Thanks
  7. Well, just completed my Reference3 HT system (Love it). My wife and I are now finishing our basement gameroom/bar. I hinted to her that we need a good music system for the room. She agreed, as long as the speakers weren't THAT BIG. Been looking on Ebay and other online locations for a pair of Heresy or Forte speakers. Never really actually heard either. How do the two compare for 2 channel audio? Is there any other models I should look out for? The room will be approx. 13'x25'. Also need some suggestions on an amp and preamp for the system. Thanks.
  8. I just bought the RF-3's a couple of months ago. I was blown away by the sound. Now, of course, I want to upgrade my entire system for Home theatre and music. Any recommendations on a good receiver and CD player. Looking in the price range of under $1,000 for the receiver.
