  1. Thanks lynnm . I assumed it was just a statement as an example of a processor with a pentium II capabilities. I'm not up on comp stuff but I read Athlon makes some great gear just not as popular as the pentium name.

  3. The only thing I find strange about what you have described in this movie is that I never noticed where the camera men were hiding when they were filming the documentary of my married life. Eyes.gif

  4. Yes Clu.I can understand anyone having trouble with what I am trying to explain when it comes to wiring some of my equipment.I leave out too much because my typing stinks. What's on the brain doesn't always get tranferred properly to words.I was going to get one of those speak and type things but I read it needs a pentium processor.I have an Athlon. If you saw the spaghetti nightmare of wires I have going to and from all the different pieces of equipment I have you'd freakout.I am careful. The astonishing thing is that I can crank all this stuff up well above reference levels and still hear a pin drop. No hums ,buzzes, ground problems . YET ! Quiet as a hirchmouse.Go figure.cwm2.gif

  5. Yea clu I read part of it but did not save it. It doesn't totally download or something. I don't understand comps anyway. Some things I do well .Anything with a keyboard is a curse for me. My comp crashed 3 times. And the one I had at work got cooked so many times it's on the lunch menu at one of those silicon valley outfits. Thanks for trying.I appreciate it.I'm going to try a few different things.

    We'll see. cwm35.gif

  6. I know many people did not like the content of the movie or japanese sports cars but I thought the DTS sound track on The Fast and the Furious was outstanding. It has to be one of the busiest mixes I've heard. It utilized all my speakers very well . The sound is jumping all over the place. The story is

hokey but it will show off your sound system.

  7. Yes I understand about the manual .The reason I have been asking so many questions is that I have had a devil of a time downloaing anything from the denon site

over the last 3 years. I've downloaded manuals from other manufacturers but denon always gives me trouble. For instance I downloaded the Outlaw 1050 manual without a hitch yesterday.I have my Onkyo manuals. I checked my latest version of acrobat,5.05 and it's working. I don't know. I'm working on alot of different angles to this situation anyway. Thanks for the help.

  8. How about this. I get my hands on a 3802. I leave everything I have hooked up to the external amp.

Left front, Right Front, Center(which is Biamped),

Left surround and Right surround and hook them up to the denon preouts. THEN I take the left and right back surround channels preouts of the denon back into the ex.ins or amp ins of the denon in Left front and Right front and monitor the sound through the front Left and Right channels on the 3802 to the rear surrounds. What do you think ? Is that crazy or what ? cwm24.gif

I had to edit . I have five other things going on right now and I may still not be saying what i mean.

  9. Thanks AF. Outlaw is now on the list. Any others?

I can afford alot more than 500 dollars if it does the job. I like Outlaw . I have some of their stuff.

I'd like to get a B&K AVR307 one of these days. I tried once but there was some confusion with B&K communication at the time. Maybe I can get one for a promise and a handshake LOL. I may go on the Spot and ask some of my friends over their also.Any one else have an idea before I burn some more plastic ?

  10. I am trying to find a back up for my Onkyo TX-DS 989 receiver.

The Onkyo 989 has 9 pre amp outs total. Two are subwoofer preouts .

And 7 amp channels. I only use the onkyo internal amps for the 2 rear surround speakers.

The rest of the amplification is handled by external amps using the preouts.

    The 9 preouts are :

    1) Front right speaker

    2) Front left speaker

    3) Center speaker

    4) Surround right speaker

    5) Surround left speaker

    6) Surround back right speaker ( powered by onkyo)

    7) Surround back left speaker (powered by onkyo)

    8) Subwoofer #1

    9) Subwoofer #2

I am looking for something that will handle this configuration while my 989 is being updated but also would like something as an inexpensive replacement in anticipation of a potential fiasco during the entire upgrade process.

Is there a unit out there that I could use that might fit the bill short of getting another 989? Ill miss my 2 rear surrounds if I loose it. I also may have an impedence problem if I split a single (6th) rear channel to my 2 RF-5s Im using but I could use just one. The new ultra 2 THX EX is supposed to incorporate 2 rear surrounds in the system. Im using them both now and the Onkyo splits them up between the surrounds in DD5.1 and shares the DTS matrix and discrete between the 2 rears. I also would need only one Sub preout. In other words a 7.1 receiver that I can power the rears in some way and has DTS -ES and THX EX . Is there such an animal I could purchase without claiming bankruptcy ? Any ideas ? Or am I just spoiled . LOL .

  11. Well Clu, I'll probably have to leave scrapple pretty soon. I'm broke and live by myself in a house with 2 acres. I'll sell the house and MAYBE some equipment. I'm having a couple of truck loads of my pro stuff brought to the house from another location tomorrow. Speaking of crossing state lines, I was in Jersey last week playing withold friends. I don't talk about my musical career on the net. I would come off as a B.S. artist and I have nothing to prove . I can say I've seen and played with alot of popular people who are dead ! LOL I'll most likely be jamming with them again soon enough.Such is life Biggrin.gif Later. The old guy.

  12. I don't remember seeing the feet for my RC-7. Maybe they are in the box. I never looked for them because I never intended to use them. That's funny I didn't see them. I also didn't see the spikes for my RF-7's.Everything was in sealed boxes. The dealer had them only a few days and did not open all the ones he had delivered. All serial numbers on the boxes and speakers matched and had delivery stickers from Arkansas. Who knows. I don't throw anything out.I'm a pack rat. I'll use all the Klipsch boxes when I move. Right now they are in the spare bedroom and the belfry with the bats. Maybe I'll go up there the next time I hear Quasimodo yell for water.I'm sure I didn't get the feet or spikes now that I think about it. Hmmmmmmmm. The serial numbers for almost all my speakers are consecutive.I made sure of that at the shop where they were delivered. Weird.cwm5.gif

  14. There are a few lists by Dolby and THX with EX titles that can be found on their sites.

Here are a few BUT check each titles VERSION for it to say: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX

Also some DVDs do not have the type of Dolby Digital 5.1 printed on the case and some receivers that can play THX EX may not automatically detect it as an EX encoded disc.

  15. Let's be very ,very careful here. According to what I have read The Lord of Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is not officially released in either region 1 or 2 until August 6, 2002 .You MIGHT have picked up a bootleg version of this disc.If this disc is truely an official release and in combination with audio dropouts on some Onkyo receiver models (the 989 & 898) with some DD 5.1 titles AND these receivers having problems recognizing some EX titles atomatically there may be a fire storm being created if these facts are not confirmed before spreading this info around on the internet. Please use caution and anyone else who presently has this disc and is having problems with it using Onkyo equipment kindly examine the package closely and make positively sure you have the real deal in your DVD player and if that player is operating correctly . Lets step back and be patient and analyize this report with all the facts we can obtain before jumping to conclusions. As I learned long ago . There's a reason for everything. The hard part is finding it.Wink.gif

  16. Maybe it's just me. I listen to all types of music from Arias to Zepplin but since I have had 4 RF-7's in the house I have found myself listening to more classical music. I'm a big time rock and roller however I think some of the old masters sound better than ever through my Klipsch speakers. Perhaps it's the horns. I beleive I am probably older than most posters on this forum and have listened to music almost every day since I was born and these speakers sound better to me than many I have owned in the past

especially while playing Beethoven ,Mozart or

Rachmaninoff. Or it's the old age factor setting in. cwm25.gif

  17. Sorry Scott. You may not qualify for the Demento shock

therapy yet. You may have to do what I did and ram a few thousands watts through those babies, add a couple of SVS ultras to get the ole brain cells scrambled and then the group may take you along to ask the good Doctor for a side order of grits. Zzzzzzzzzzz

Zzzzzzzzzzzz Oh yeah Doc. Feed me. Feed me.I heard that the afro look is coming back ! ZzzzzzzzzzzzzEek.gif

  23. I've always liked U2. I'm not a fanatic but I have some of their work. I respect them. If my memory is correct I think they had their first album released when most of them were in their teens. Bono is likeable in his own strange way. He wrote the story for the movie The Million Dollar Hotel that starred Mel Gibson and Milla Jovovich. Definitely for special tastes but I liked it. Beleive it or not the drummer,Larry Mullen, runs the show in that band.At least that's what I saw Bono say.In fact he also said that Mullen was the reason he was in the band in the first place. There's and old saying. If you don't have a good drummer . You don't have a good band. U2 is a good band. Adios.
