  1. HI DUDER. FIRST OF ALL , THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. I ONLY HAVE A DIGITAL COAX AUDIO OUTPUT ON THE COMBO, SO THATS WHY I AM USING THAT. I AM GOING TO GET A NEW CD PLAYER NEXT,AND PLAN TO USE DIGITAL OPTICAL FROM THAT TO THE HK. I ALSO PLAN ON RUNNING DIGITAL OPTICAL FROM THE SATELLITE TO THE HK, BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE DIGITAL OPTICAL INPUT ON THE HK. CAN I GET A SPLITTER TO PUT IN THE HK SO I CAN DO THAT? ,AND IF I CAN, AND DO, WILL I BE LOSING ANYTHING AS FAR AS AUDIO PERFORMANCE?EVENTUALLY I WILL USE AN OLDER YAMAHA AVR I HAVE FOR OUR HT, BUT RIGHT NOW I AM JUST WANTING TO GET THE BEST AUDIO I CAN WITH A SOMEWHAT LIMITED BUDGET. I AM THINKING OF GETTING A ONKYO C 7030 CD PLAYER. WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID , WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS / ADVICE ON THAT? I APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL INPUT! THANKS TO ALL !...... JEFF
  2. I am thinking about getting a new Onkyo C 7030 for $199, and was wondering if anybody out there has anything they can tell me about it. good /bad or recommendations for something in that price range. I am just focusing on 2 channel audio for now. It will be going with a HK3490 and 2 KG4's.
  3. I am very pleased with the new hk 3490! it sounds great with the kg's. I also use my old fisher tower speakers when using the tv. I am wondering if I can get some more advice though. (1.) I have a direct tv hd satellite receiver with hdmi cord running from it to our sony xbr 52' 3d tv (2.) audio l/r+video out going to the hk audio l/r+video in from the satellite with rca cables. (3.) component out from a dvd/vcr combo to component in on the tv with rca cables (4.)audio out from combo to audio in on tv using rca cables. (5.)digital audio coaxial cable from combo audio out to the digital audio coaxial in on the hk + rca cable from video out on combo to video in on hk. There is a digital optical out on the satellite receiver,a digital optical out on the tv,and and digital optical in on the hk. To use the digital optical audio through the hk, should I run it from the satellite receiver to the hk, or from the tv to the hk ?? There are no hdmi connections on the combo, or the hk , so digital optical seems to be the best option. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE IMPUT !!! .
  4. Well, my sony cd player recently crapped out, and until I can replace it I am using a dvd/vcr combo to listen to cd's.It only has rca and coaxial outs for audio. CD player will be my next buy. Any suggestions on that also welcome. thanks much!
  5. Well, I got my new receiver today! Man... I am totally hooked. Went from my yamaha rx-v595 to a hk3490. I rearranged 1/2 the livingroom and moved a few pcs. of furniture downstairs to accommodate . But it was all well spent time. I am totally loving it. What huge difference! KG4's sounding sooo much better. Anyway, I am wondering if someone would tell me which connections are the best to use for components (digtal coaxial, optical, rca etc.),and what are the best brands?
  6. Hellow . I too have been looking to upgrade my receiver, I recently got a pair of kg4's and already had a yamaha RX-V595 avr. It sounded much better with the kg4's than it did with my old tower speakers , but the yamaha is more suited to ht than for 2channel. I was pleased with the upgrade, but knew the kg4's could , and should sound better. Not being way knowledgeable about the stereo world (obviously) lol, I got a kv3 center speaker to try to improve music quality. Well, that is more so to improve ht, and very much does which is great. I mainly want to improve my LOUD MUSIC quality though. From blues to thrash. Well anyway, I to just purchased a HK3490 and it should arrive soon. I looked at ,and listened to a CAMBRIDGE AUDIO- TOPAZ SR10, and was'nt really impressed. It's a bit more pricey at about $500. I have heard on here, and elsewhere that klipsch + hk pair together well.I decided to get the hk 3490 instead(without hearing it),and then read your post. I know they are different speakers and our room is 17ft by 24ft ,but I am hoping to get the improvement I am after and then move on from there. I hope the speaker placement gets you the sound you want and will be checking post to see. I imagine I will be going through that myself pretty soon and will l let you know if I find anything that can help. I know this reply really is not doing anything to help, but since I got one coming soon myself , I did. I hope to here good news, and MUSIC
  7. Well, if I i get a a seperate receiver , just for 2way, what woulld be a good improvement to start with as far as a receiver?
  8. Hi, and thanks. What price range would a avr that fits the bill be? Do you have any specific units in mind ?
  9. i currently have this for my set-up...yamaha rx-v595 receiver - pair of klipsch kg4 speakers(1989) - , a klipsch kv3 center speaker ,a sony xbr 3d television, sony ps3,and have direct tv hd satellite receiver. my first choice is listening to my music (loud, loud&clear),but i want to have decent home theatre secondly.what i have now sounds very good, but i would much like to improve the music quality. i listen to blues to hard thrash like slayer for example.my yamaha 595 is more directed towards home theatre ,from what i get . i really am more concerned with music quality first. any suggestions on the best best receiver, in the $400 range, considering all the above?
  10. The sounds ,when using the stereo do not match the tv.. I have a sony xbr 3d, and yamaha rx-v595 receiver . Anybody know what I should check or do, to correct this?
  11. Hi, thanks for the advice. I posted it on the 2-channel forum also. That is probably a better forum for what I have. Will I get better or worse , or no difference in sound by using the 8ohm selection? I I only listen to my music way loud. My KV3 is on it's way. Do you think that will be a big difference in the music end of it? I know the reciever is not the best match , but it's what I have for now. I cannot afford way much as far as that , but do you have any upgrade recomendations? I know the KG4's don't even hold a candle to that awesome system you have, but there the best speakers I have ever owned, and now I'm hooked! I just don't want to do anything to damage them. I REALLY APPRECIATE tour feedback!, and hope I'm not chewing your ear off with all this. THANKS AGAIN, Jeff
  12. Hello all. I just joined you all, and am very glad I found this site. I have got pair of KG4's and ,with some SOUND advice from some others,am going to get a KV3 center to go with them. The question I have is this, my KG's are 6ohm, and the KV3 is 8ohm. My Yamaha RX-V595 impedance selector is set at 4 or higher the pair of mains(KG4's) and 6 or higher for center. (?KV3). Will that being considered, be good to go?

  14. I recently bought my first pair of Klipsch speakers (KG4's). I am powering them with a Yamaha RX-V595 only. I use them mostly for listening to my music(LOUD),and also for home theatre. First of all , is that a fairly compatable pair ? and secondly, what would be the best thing to get next? center speaker, sub, amp,or something else? I am new here, and could use some SOUND advice. All would be appreciated ! - Jeff - I hope I picked the right catagorie. If not, which would be best one for these questions ?
