  1. I plan to upgrade my auto audio system with limited budget, here's my situation

-my car has 4 seats and the back seats are empty most of the time, so I can put some audio stuffs on it.

I am think two choice here:

    choice1

    1) 4 Quintents (two front, two back)

    2) use my old pioneer vs409 AVreciever

    3) a ~$100 8" Sub or maybe a SONY WM40 or a Cambridge 8" Sub

    4) a MP3 CD player

    5) 600Watts auto inverter

    choice2

    1) Klipsch ProMedia 4.1

    2) a MP3 CD player

    3) current 250Watts auto inverter

which one do you think will sounds better? if not to much different, I think choice two is a bit easier for my pocket, thanks

PS ProMedia V.2-400 looks like about 50-100 cheaper than ProMedia 4.1, anybody know their differences?

  2. I've used a Pioneer v409, I know this is not the same one but they may share some similarity, the sound from the vs409 with KSCC1 is a little to bright in my opinion, after replaced it with Denon 3300, the sound is just right

  3. recievd the Quintets yestersdays, the tone match with Quintets is much better than EnegryTake1, with EnegryTake1, it was keep reminding me that I am using different speakers for rear when I was listen to 5-Ch music but it doesn't happen with Quintets for rear, however, the Quintets definitely can't keep up with the RF3's because I experienced that the higher the volume the more the hiss from the Quintets, well probably time to start saving for RS-3

    Thanks for the advices fellows

  4. Actually I am very happy with the Sub after little tweaking and replacement(thanks for the tips TheEarsSmile.gif), however my neighbors sure hate this sub lol, I turned the volume of the sub about 95db(at noon) yesterday and after 10 mins, my neighbor knocked on my door, it suprised me that I was expecting the person was the old dude next door but it actually was a 20 years old guy in another room, damn he sucks! lol, I wish I can live in a house or a separate apartment one day, then I can fully enough the bassSmile.gif

  6. I just set up a HT system with the M&K MK350, I set

1)all the speakes are set to small

    2)set the correct delay time

    3)selected bass output: subwoofer only

    4)did the phase setting

    5) did the channel level setup

6)Xover @ 100HZ at the backpanel of the sub

7)put 4 spikes at the bottom of the sub

my first question is, when I set all the channels to the same refrence level(75db), the sound of the sub(75db) seems.. small and weak, should I set the sub louder than other channels?

and aslo, in movie, the sub seems doing good except... I expect a little more punchy when the rocket hit the beach in Saving Private Ryan but the sound in very rumbering and just little punchy..... is this the way a good sub should be?.. more rumbleing but less punchy?

in music, I have to turn the sub volume all the way up to 8+db to get the decent bass.. however, the Sub is lound .. very lound.. but again the sound is just a little bit to boomy and it's not really punching my heart enough..

    thanks for any info/advices

  11. i I am new to HT, spent many hours reserching the right front channel but still couldn't make up my mind, help me out please, here is the parts that I've already got,

    Denon 3300

    Center:KLF C7

    Real: Quintets

    Sub: M&K MX350

The system is about 80% for DVDs and 20% for music, I came up with few ideas, dunno which one to get since I think the sub is pretty good so may be I don't need too much bass from the main... dunno

    KLF 10

    KLF 20

    Heresy II

    RF-3

    RB-5

my living room is 14'x24' but I put the HT in the shorter end which is the main speakers about 10' from my hearing position and I live in apratment so I cannot turn the volume up more than.. I guess about 90db..

    thanks for any help!

  12. I plan to upgrade my current HT system, I already orderd the Denon 3300, Quintets for surround and got a good deal on M&K MX350 but because of the M&K I've already spent more than what I planned for...

Now it comes to the center and frontL/R channels, I mostly watch DVDs and I am not a big fan on music, I heard people said that the most important parts for movie is the reciever, center channel and the sub, I think the reciever and the sub are ok and I come up with the following choice sinces I only have less than $500 left for the rest...

choice 1: RC-3II + SB-2 (will they have matching problem?

choice 2: KSC-C1 + RB-3 (will they have matching problem?)

    choice 3: SC1 + SB-3

again the HT is 90% for DVDs, which choice would you make in this situation? thanks for any help and suggestions!
