Dear Masters of Klipsch,
I just lucked out today and bought a pair of KLF 30's for 50 bucks. Obviously a crazy low price for these speakers, and actually my second pair, which I am quite excited about(going to use them as my rear speakers in my setup). Gotta love getting Mahogony KLF 30's from a guy who doesnt even know what they are The speakers happen to have some scuffing, and a bit of water damage/dings, as well as seperation (1.5mm) at the bottom corner. Everything else is in perfect working order.
I am planning on covering the speakers in an epoxy, or strong material of such order, so I can use them for parties without worrying.
My question is this: As many of you know a lot about speakers, and maybe even DIY builds, what would be anyones advice as far as rebuilding the cabinets completely. My other option is to sand down the water damaged areas, and attempt to repair with wood compound. Also, as a side note, they reek of chain smoking.
Enough incoherent rambling. What advice does anyone have? Will sanding hurt the speakers significantly?
Sorry for formatting... Not sure how to insert returns.
