  1. By the way...Youths 2-channel setup in his living room is the most impressive 2-Channel I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing! I was really impressed with the Acurus 200x3 over the NAD an Parasound. I would go into more detail, but my alarm just went off and I have to go get on a cruise to the Bahamas.
  2. What gave it away? I thought I hid my excitement pretty well until my body broke out into the happy dance without my consent... Ok...these things are simply amazing works of art. Stunning both visually and audibly. My wife LOVES her music. When I built her bathroom I put a Klipsch ceiling speaker and mounted a Sub in the ceiling if that gives you any idea. She was completely impressed with the RF-7ii's. She tested with the NAD amp in Youths living room for at least 2 hours. When I came back in from mounting Youths RS-62ii's she just nodded her head and smiled declaring her satisfaction. As far a the amp goes....I posted in my build thread my concern and have significant experience in the pro-audio world so I actually expect to be underwhelmed with this system when I connect it to my Denon AVR-791. I hope I am wrong, but if not Hopefully my wife will be equally underwhelmed and help me spring for the receiver and amp these babies deserve sooner rather than later.
  3. Thanks guys. I am thrilled that Youth is happy with them. As you can see I only finished out the surfaces that would be visible when mounted. Unless you are over 9ft tall or standing on the seats, the sides are all you can see. 3 primer coats, then wet sanded 360 down to 800, then a finish coat of paint on the now perfectly smooth surface. As for the " workation" I am not a person who relaxes for fun. That's the only part about a cruise I don't like...downtime. Youth is my best friend and truly like a brother to me. I feel God has gifted me with great talents. If I can hang with my best friend and share my gifts, then I call that a great day Thanks Willland, this is definitely better than the duck tape and bailing wire idea I had. ;-)
  4. Good to hear! I was wondering how well the sound would match up. I like the look of the RS-35's and already have one wall mounted and built a custom slot over the fireplace for the other side. RS-62's wouldn't fit. The rear sound is ceiling mounted and angled down. Ceilings are 8'2" and the 62's would hang low enough people could reach up and mess with it. You didn't even know the S1's were on the ceiling until you heard them and the RS-35s will fit that spot well.
  5. I have looked over the build of your 18's before and must say it is tempting. You did a good job on them. Good looking solid build. Maybe one day... I built a few custom sub boxes in the car audio world that faired well in competitions. Yes...I guess you could say I'm "pretty handy." ;-)Building it is easy, that's not the issue, but one step at a time. As with most of us on here, cash determines schedules. That Mackie is a commercial sub designed for auditoriums. I bought it when I ran sound for a small Christian rock band. It has served me very well as an HT sub once that gig played out. It puts out more than you might think. That thing is huge. It has good bass, but going to an RSW-15 like Youth has would be an upgrade. Not sure it has much more bass, but I remember it being tighter and a little cleaner than mine and I am sure will hit lower frequencies. Wish I could have heard them both in the same room. My room is about 18x35 and Youth's is 13x19, so it wasn't apples to apples. A custom build with a pair of 18's would be insane...and tempting. I doubt I would put the subs up front visible just to maintain the look I want. I left room where I built in my sub that I could stack 3 15" or a pair of 18" if I ever decide to. I don't think my old pair of RF-3ii's could keep up with a pair of 18's so that upgrade is just now even feasible.
  6. The waiting game is almost over. When I return I will finally have the system of my dreams. Youth has been saying for years he would help me find a system like this I could buy. Youthman.....You ROCK! I am ridiculously excited..... RF7ii's - Fronts RC-7 - Center RS-35's - Sides RS-35's - Rears Mackie SRS1500 Sub
  7. I just looked up the details on that "Bat cave"....$2 Million. Wow. That is not "a man cave" the Bat Cave is "THE man cave."
  8. That was a secret Bro...and yes...that is my Theater. I built it entirely out of Drywall mud and newspaper to save money. Don't expect me to let you drive the Tumbler after ratting me out like that.
  9. Watch yourself Ron....Those babies will be long gone before then. I would love to join a GTG with the group. Youth's house is 11 hours away, but depending on schedule I might just make it.
  10. 3 coats of paint and wet sanded to 800 grit. The pine scrap I made the sides from didn't have pretty grain so this will completely cover the grain and give it a super slick surface. When mounted it will look like a commercial finish and not a couple blocks of scrap wood holding it out from the wall. I will put the finish coat on tonight. For those wondering it has a 26.6 degree down angle. The box is 12" wide so the RS-62ii's will overhang the edges 2" on each side. It is the same height as the speaker. I am bringing a 3" hole saw to cut the access for the speaker wires so the speaker can be removed from the wall by only disconnecting the wires and not having to unscrew the speaker from the mount.
  11. I remembered Youth has a problem finding a bunch of candy wrappers under the seats in the HT even though he doesn't let the kids do that. I decided that space behind the speaker mounts should not be wasted and stayed up last night making the most of it. I thought what if I could put mics in the room, listen for the sounds created by candy wrappers crinkling, triangulate the position and target that spot. I needed 3 mics to triangulate and I wanted to keep it simple since I don't have much time so I used the guts of 2.4Ghz cordless phones to communicate between the two speakers and the small base station that will be located at the front of the room. It made it easy to communicate RS-232 protocol commands over that frequency and cut the cost of Bluetooth components. The "bullet" is a capacitor charged by a ten's unit that has been modified to reach 10,000 volts similar to the way a stun gun works. When triggered the barrel pops out the top and stepper motors take it to the target and at that point it is a simple CO2 air canon that fires a charged cap to the location giving the offender a quick pop as a reminder to keep the candy out of the HT. Triangulation Mic in second speaker mount. The RS-232 interface is for programming the PIC and not used during operation. My targeting is getting me within +- 8 inches out to 10ft. I think it is close enough, but would probably need to either add a 4th mic for better location proximity or a stepper motor with tighter tolerances.
  12. Michael, Maybe Wake Junky can cut you some angled(wedge) blocks to mount on the wall and mount the RS62II's onto them. It would be a much cleaner/neater look. Like PSG did with his Heresy II surrounds but full length maybe. Bill I liked the idea. I put these together real quick tonight. Put filler in the nail holes so I couldn't paint them yet, but you get the idea. I will drill the mounting holes for the 1/4-20 bolts once I get to Youth's house next week to make sure they line up perfect. Sorry for cell phone pics... They will be held up by a French cleat made from leftover pieces when I cut the excess length off my rack.
  13. Thanks Tasdom. I appreciate the complement. Youth, just give me the measurements for the speaker height on the wall and distance of your front row head location off the back wall and I will make it happen. I will just calculate the angle to point it at head height of the front row. Also, Measure the hole spacing for the quad threaded mounts and get those to me. If anybody here has RS-62ii's and a caliper that would be ideal. I may have time to fabricate them this week.
  14. I found when I ran Audacity on my Denon if I set the second listening position to the back row it would turn my rears down. I set it for the primary only and liked it better.
  15. Thanks guys, Finally getting the details wrapped up on the fireplace. Built a blower for the fireplace out of parts pulled from a microwave and started on routing out the custom faceplates for the rack. Will be posting pics of that soon.
  16. This is listed as a mating product: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/796642-2/A98431-ND/1131836
  17. It doesn't look like the center tab will fit. All three tabs should fit inside the connector. You will definitely need a caliper to measure it. I think the two grooves creating the tabs are throwing you off.
  18. These two look the same with only .08mm difference in size. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/284040-2/A98122-ND/1826985
  19. Looks like it. Need to take some measurements to know for sure. At $1.67 each I would probably buy the 3 that looked the closest and hope one fits. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/284040-2/A98122-ND/1826985 Original Search: last few look close. http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?FV=fff40016%2Cfff803be%2Cfffc0011%2C940002%2Ce7c0002%2C10cc0003&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ColumnSort=0&page=2&stock=0&pbfree=0&rohs=0&quantity=&ptm=0&fid=0&pageSize=25
  20. I finished the fireplace trim last night. I was laying in bed last night and thought the same thing. I will try to get that pic tonight.
  21. Thanks. You think I rock now....just wait until you see your new room.
  22. haha....I was referring to you son's screen. Just say the word. You see what I built for mine. Let's make yours better. I built mine without help. The two of us could be dangerous.
