  1. ok guys, ive got a question... but first a little bacground on my current home audio system. Receiver/Cd player/Tape player: Sony MHC Surround Speakers: Cruddy Little Sony's Front Side Speakers A: crappy Sony's Front side speakers b: big OLD panasonics Center: Klipsch RC-3 (praise the lord, a good speaker!) Subwoofer: none, adding Klipsch in near future (and klipsch 4.1 for my computer) ok, now that ta'll know what i have, i will tell you im adding some more klipsch in the future, just right now im a little low on cash... Anyway, my Sony Receiver is pretty much a peice of crap, and im trying to add some more Bass into my system, without buying a subwoofer... ill be getting one of them l8er, but for now, im trying to do something a little strange to compromise for lack of bass. Ok, so those Old Panasonic speakers i have, they also have an older receiver. their receiver, hard to beleive it, is more powerful then my sony. unfortunately, my sony does surroundsound, while the panasonic is too old to do that, and it can only do stereo. now what i wanted to do was plug my panasonics into the panasonic receiver, and plug the panasonic into my sony, to kinda use it as an amplifer and equilizer, which it has, to make my front speakers produe a little more bass. the only problem is, The Panasonic's Auxilary input is in RCA, and the only output i have on my Sony is the stripped speaker wire kind, crappy spring clips, that is. So i got myself some RCA cables, and i cut off the ends, revealing two seperate wires inside both the left and right RCA wire. I was going to test them for Polarity with a nifty meter, but i couldnt get anything. My friend told me that RCA cables dont have polarity, so now, im wondering if its even possible to hook up my Sony to my Panasonic. can anyone help me out a lil? (really, im just afraid to plug in the RCA because if i dont get the polarity right, which there doesnt seem to be one, im afraid it might cause me some problems... dont want anything blowing up on me, ya know) thanks alot, Methane Man
  2. my Sony has the bare spring clips, so i guess im screwed in that department, but for the subwoofer it does have an RCA or stereo type output, so could i hook up the subwoofer, at least? I gues it doesnt really matter, since im gonna me buying some Synergy speakers and a new receiver soon anyway. thanks man, you may have just saved my speakers lives. Rock On
  3. i've got a sett of klipsch 4.1's for my computer, (recently purchased and i think im one of two or three people on this forums who's actually works, no offense klipsch - i like em alot.) anyway, i was wondering if it is possible to hook up the entire system to my surroundsound system for my television. the tv's audio goes out to my Sony MHC 50-disc player, which has 5.1 surround sound. well, the .1 is missing, because it didnt include the wubwoofer. at any rate, it has all the plugs in the back that would allow me to plug them in, but im not quite sure about the subwoofer. its output goes into the speaker with the control unit, and im not sure about removing it. basically, im wondering if the subwoofer would work, (and the other speakers) by either unplugging the control box or buying an audio cable for it. Rock On...
  4. welp, i got my new pc a few days ago (Alienware) and of course, i bought klipsch promedia 4.1's. Previously, for about two years, i was using some real nice Altec/Lansings, which i thought to be very good at what they do, you know, rattle the walls etc. but after listening to them really loud, i realised that i had blown both speakers, their quality instantly dropped unless they were turned way down. So, for about 6 months, ive been intently searching for the best speakers i could find. all the sources i checked, with some very minor exceptions, said klipsch all the way. So i bought some... Let me tell you, these are the best speakers i have ever had. You know you have good speakers when they out-do your surround sound system for CDs and TV... and definately when you'd rather use them over an amp for your guitar. I have had NO problems whatsoever with the Klipsch 4.1's with the exception of permanently damaging my hearing from listening to the overpowering sounds of the bass cranked all the way up, and with no distortion, i might add. now, looking at these forums, it seems that alot of people are having problems, but then, when you consider how many people own Klipsch, and how few post problems here, you realise that Klipsch is most certainly a quality company. keep up the good work guys. -Methane Man P.S. after all my friends heard these speakers, they all want a set too.
