  1. Sorry about that. They are SS-1. I have had kg4's since about '88 (they are the 4 ohm version). I got a KV-3 a year or two ago for the center. I have been slowly getting 'matched' speakers to try and do this right.
  2. Speakers came today and they are excellent. They look brand new. Hooked them up and they sounded great!!! For the price I paid I'm very happy. Now I have finish deciding on a receiver. I have a Denon (plain AM/FM reciever) so I'm looking at the AVR1910 or AVR2310. Anyway, thanks to all that replied. Your comments did help.
  3. I have looked around the forums and found some information, but it just didn't completely help me. So I thought I post my specific questions. Right now I have a Denon DRA-1025R with 125watts per channel. I'm finally moving to a 5.1 setup. My fronts are Kg4s. Looking at new receivers, it seems one has to pay a lot of money to get near 125watts. On my 1025R I can barely turn the volume knob half-way before my ears hurt, so 125 watts is plenty of headroom. Since I have had the Denon for well over 10 years I'm leaning towards getting that brand again. I have kind of narrowed it down to the AVR-1910/790 or AVR-2310/890. The 1910 is 90w and the 2310 is 105w. So both are less than what I have right now. To get close I have to jump to the AVR-3310 but that is ~$1300 and only gets me 120w. The 2310 is ~$850 and the 1910 is ~$550. For me, the only differences are the wattage and video processor. However, I don't currently plan to run any video through the receiver. So I'm looking at $300 for 15w. So is it worth it? Would the 90w have enough headroom to drive my system? Thanks in advance for any responses.
  4. Thanks for the input. The speakers in another state, so I couldn't hook them up. After your input and talking with others, I decided to go for it. My fingers are crossed waiting for them to arrive.
  5. Hi, Have been a member for while, but my first post in a while. I have found a set of Klipsch surround speakers I'm interested in. Supposedly they are still in the original box, for about 8 years and the boxes never opened. The part that concerns me is that they have been stored in a basement on a shelf. It is supposedly a dry basement in a "new" home. I will confirm these facts as best I can, but I wanted to get the opinion of you guys and gals. So would you expect the speaker's to be ok having been in storage for so long? I would think being in the original packaging would be a big help. I have seen a pair of cheap speakers that were stored in a basement (in a box put nothing more) and the speaker's surrounds deteriotated. Not sure if that is typical, or because they were cheap speakers, or because they weren't wrapped in plastic like they are from the factory. Thanks in advance for those that respond. I appreciate it. Mark
  6. Doug, Based on the Klipsch website, the KV-3 matches the KG4.2, while the KV-2 matches the KG3.2/3.5/2.2/2.5/1.5. So the 3 seems like the better match. I didn't see any currently on e-bay, so let me know when you sell yours. Mark
  7. Thanks for the offer on the ss-1s. I haven't been to the store yet to check out rears. My wife has already expressed concerns over the looks of speakers hanging on the wall. So since I have to get her input, it may be a while before I decide what to get. Sorry to hear you got stuck.
  8. Doug, Thanks for the info. If the KG4s are so good, why are you changing them? I currently have a Denon DRA1025R (125watts per). I looking at the DRV-2802, but not sure if its 90w is good enough. At least the 2802 is discrete, but I can't find anything that says whether the 1025 is or not. Mark
  9. I currently own a pair of kg4. I would like to use them in my surround system. Which center and suround speakers best match the kg4s? BTW - I will be purchasing a Denon AVR-2802 Thanks Mark
