  1. first off, glad to see the forum back online. I've been wanting to show off my newest project. I was looking for a belle as my center channel between the khorns but couldn't find one for sale anywhere nearby. So I decided to build one. It was a fun project and challenging at times. here are a few pics. I was unable to find a k500 horn to use with the k55v so I ended up building it as well. it turned out really nice and sounds awesome. My dad already ordered two more for his 2ch set up...
  2. I finally got the forte II's and they are flawless golden oak. I built 15" tall solid oak stands to match and they turned out really good.. But due to a toddler running around the house I have to push them up almost against the wall to keep the passive 15's safe from little hands. I did just score a cornwall III missing the woofer and grill for 30 bucks today... how would that work for a center channel? I'm about to call crites for a replacment woofer and grill cloth. also how is the grill held on to the cornwall?
  3. thanks for the advise. tromprof is correct, I want to use the fortes for the side channels. I managed to find a pair of forte II's and will have them tonight. I went ahead and put the heresy in the rear (up high angled down) as i didn't really have room for it up front and didn't want to put it on its side. I was incorrect about the center channel I have. its the kv4 but still has the same sensitivity rating as the heresy. I'll live with this setup until I can find/afford a single belle for a center.
  4. cool, thanks. If you ever need any woodwork done you know who to call. I just picked up that single heresy on c-list also. it will be my surround back. still looking for another set of heresys for the surround L&R... I might have found a pair in TX, waiting to hear back from the guy,
  5. hello, I am trying to put together my HT set up after getting my klipschorns and would like other opinions. I currently have a klf-c7 to use as a center or surround back in a 6.1 set up with a sw-15 sub. there is a pair of forte's on c-list I would like to add as surrounds and a single heresy as well. would the forte's make good rear channels with the k-horns? and should I use the klf-c7 or heresy as a center? then all my speakers would be oiled oak except for the klf-c7.... I'm thinking putting the heresy as the surround back and keeping the klf-c7 up front. they both have the same sensitivity rating....
  6. thanks, I really enjoy the time i spend in the woodshop. I just figured out the klipschorns are 1988 models according to the serials. they are only one digit apart...
  7. yeah i have built about 20 instruments to date. I've listened to several live recordings and all i can say is fantastic. i like the ambiance of the dolby digital but with these in stereo makes you feel like you out in the crowd.
  8. Thanks all for the welcome, I am really enjoying the sound I'm getting out of the horns. They really fill up the room well. It took a bit of EQ'ing to a achieve the sound I was looking for but everyone's ear is different. Now concerning the clock, lol, it was a Craigslist item I found on the cheap so I snagged it. Yep I'm a craigslist junkie... The bass mentioned is an electric upright bass I built.
  9. hello, thanks for the quick reply. yeah, i think I might have a set of later 80's khorns instead. even better!!! there may have been a misunderstandng between the previous owner and what I was asking him. I wasn't at home when I posted this so I didn't have access to the x-overs. I did have a video the owner emailed me and it had the x-overs on it which are the ak-2's. I'm still learning about these incedibly musical beasts... one day, when I win the lotto, I wish to own a mcintosh set up to power them with. But in the meantime I am using a denon avr-1911 which does pretty well. My dad sold the belle's to a friend in friendsood TX and he still owns them as far as I know. here is a pic of my set up. it's a 20X20 room with half of the back of the room open to the kitchen.
  10. Hello, I am new to the klipsch forum but not klipsch speakers. My dad owned a pair of belle's years ago and I can remember even as a kid how well they sounded. I recently just bought a used pair or 1960's klipschorns, mint cond, from the original owner along with a klipsch sw-15 sub and klf-c7 center channel speaker all for only 1600 bucks. I am very happy with my purchase!!! I recently took one of the terminals off to examine the inside woofer and noticed two fairly large caps inside the woofer horn. I haven't heard anyone talk about these so I was wondering what they are for? And If I eventually upgrade the crossovers should these be replaced too?
