  1. Willand, thanks for the information and link, not sure when I will list the AS 2000. Used to have the NAD M2 and sold that too, so not confident any NAD integrated below the M2 would do the trick the RF 7II's.
  2. Thank you all. Robert, thanks for the detailed post. What about one of the inexpensive tube integrateds from China? By the way, I previously had the NAD M2 with the RF 7II's and it did not make a satisfying match.
  3. I need to replace my Yamaha AS 2000 integrated that I currently use with the RF 7II speakers. The Yamaha is too forward and accentuates the top end too much which is a bit rough around the edges too. The pairing of the AS 2000 integrated and the RF 7II's really makes them a fatiguing set of speakers. My sources are a Macbook Pro ( Audiophilleo 2/ Topping D30 dac), Krell SACD Standard III, Jolida JD 100, and I listen in a smaller family room 11 ft W by 18 ft L x by 8 ft H. No options for changing placement since the family room is crammed with furniture and gear. I am looking for recommendations of an integrated amp you have heard with the RF7II's that will drive the woofers so the bass will have more punch. I am looking to spend as little as possible (definitely well under $1000) . Since the bass has not punched well with my current integrated, I have been using a subwoofer, so I probably need an integrated that has outputs to connect to a sub. I have been thinking about a vintage McIntosh maybe , since I saw where an RF7II owner was happy with that pairing, but any and all suggestions for other integrated amps are welcome. So here is what I am looking for: 1. integrated amplifier well under $1000 2. outputs for a subwoofer 3. an integrated you have heard with the RF7II's that compliments the bass capability of the speaker 4. music I listen to primarily is Jazz from the 50's 60's and 70's Thank you for your ideas.
  4. There is only "set to large with AVR's not with separates or integrateds. I have used separates and integrateds only. Or with preamp/processors ("separate" by virtue of having no built-in power amp ) Do you have a bass control to manipulate? Just to try it, have you tried the speakers farther into the corner -- perhaps touching the both walls in the corner? Depending of other things, your woofers might not be bothered by the couch in the way. Truly "flat" sound (measured flat +/- ~~2.5 dB via Audyssey) doesn't sound good in my room with Khorns, so I crank up the bass a bit, or, if using the sub, turn it up, as well as turning up the bass control to increase the bass from the Khorns. There is a bass control when in DSP mode of the HK 990, but not in the Direct mode which I often use and use with my Halide DAC HD.
  5. Thanks. Don't get why Klipsch bothered to fill the hole.
  6. The tops of the speaker terminals on my RF-7II's are closed (not open to accept banana terminations), like these pictured. What's up with that?
  7. Here's my room. The RF7 II's have been moved out and my old Mirage OMD28 are in their place for now. I have no other options for placement and the Mirage are almost in the exact spot as the RF7 II's were. At some point I will switch things around and move the RF 7II's back in. I am using a Harman Kardon HK 990 to power everything. Plenty of power and current there, but it did not grip the woofers of RF7 II's as would be expected. Room dimensions are 13.5x23x7.5. Couch and stereo cabinet get in the way a bit, especially on right speaker. My listening position is about 13 ft away on a couch sitting at the opposite end of the room from the speakers. The couch has a little potential for movement backwards or forwards and a few months ago, I moved the couch back as close to the wall opposite the speakers as possible. This was suggested and seemed to help increase the feeling of bass in the room some. There are 2 openings in this room, a powder room behind the (couch) listening position, and an opening to the entryway of the house that doubles as an opening to the kitchen.
  8. The RF7 II's have been moved out and my old Mirage OMD28 are in their place for now. More technical issues. Photo in next post.
  9. Technical difficulties editing my photo.. Please see the next post.
  10. There is only "set to large with AVR's not with separates or integrateds. I have used separates and integrateds only.
  11. That's some good music there! I'm a 2 channel-only guy myself but can't get the full sound top to bottom and the bass I would expect from the RF7 II's. They're sitting in my dining room waiting for me to try them out again.
  12. What amp and source do you use to get that good bass out of the P38's?
  13. I own the RF7 II's not the 7's. I have used them with 2 different speaker cables and 2 different amps. They are finicky speakers that can be harsh. By finicky, I mean that even though sensitive, they require current/power, and and even with powerful amps they will not automatically guarantee the speakers best performance. So patience, trial and error is required to find the right amp and speaker cables that will give you what you hope for from them. I also recommend tone controls or an EQ in front of them too. I tend to think the 7's may be similar.
  14. Being on concrete is a whole different monster. My RF7 II's were on carpet over concrete slab family room 11x18x8 on short wall with no placement options about 5 feet apart. How do you post a picture?
  15. I've never owned any VAC gear, but think very highly of the brand. It cost more than I've been willing to spend when buying. Always lusted after VAC integrateds. I doubt you're going to improve upon the sound of your VAC setup with most integrateds out there unless you find a special and expensive one. I'm sure you know that. What is it you feel you're lacking in your current sound, if I may ask?
  16. Are you looking for an integrated for a 2nd system, or was the LSA to replace your VAC gear?
  17. Hi, I came across your question. I used to own the LSA Signature not the Statement. I really believe it was a quality piece. But I ended up selling it because when it comes to high end gear a good match with your speakers and other gear is mandatory to hear the potential of any one piece in the audio chain. So unless you pair up an integrated or any amp with speakers that match it well then you won't hear what that amp could do. So it can be a slippery slope. If you don't have the ability to audition the LSA in your system with your speakers first, I might think twice. Until you hook it to your speakers you won't know. It may be a beautiful piece. I've had plenty of beautiful pieces, but unless you pair that beautiful piece to other complementary pieces (ie the right speakers, sources etc./favorable impedance matching etc.) it will not give back its full capability. The other factor is re-sale. When you buy something like LSA, although it is quality, it is not as well known or has the reputation that will help you make a good sale if you decide to resell, even though you bought it at a discount. Now if was Conrad Johnson, Krell, Audio Research, etc. (widely known /great reputations in the audiophile community) resale at a good price is much more favorable. But on a different note, the tubes in an integrated like this one are not a big deal to work with even for a novice. A tube amp for the uninitiated is a different story and can be more complex and intimidating. I have avoided owning a tube amp for all these years but tube integrateds are not nearly as daunting.
  18. Hey, thanks for the details and pics. Which higher end source are you referring too? So you're using Emotiva monoblocks, which ones? and which preamp?
  19. No I have not tried that or done any sweeps. I was going to suggest the very same thing as this happens more often that one would think. One easy test is to simply move the balance so only the left or right speaker is playing. If the bass increases, then you have one speaker connected incorrectly. At some point, I'm going to try this.
  20. You guys here at the Klipsch forum are a good group of guys. Keep the feedback coming. What about this "hole" in the lower mids to lower bass frequencies I've heard a few guys attribute to the RF7- II's? I too have felt something was missing in the "fullness" of the lower midrange to bass. I have the II's sitting by themselves in my dining room and my old Mirage OMD -28 (which were in the dining room by themselves before) are back doing duty in my system. I would love to put the RF-7II's back in my system. I'm just looking for an excuse before I get tired of all this and sell them. I was also thinking of trying a different integrated with a tone control topology like the Yamaha A-S2000, something so I could more easily "boost" the low end. Anyone using the Yamaha A-S2000 with these speakers in a 2-channel setup?
  21. So my take away from your posts and the others in the thread is that the RF7 II's have to have EQ in the bass region or tone controls in order to produce the bass that 4 ten inch woofers in big cabinets would usually be expected to do. Without EQ in the bass, unless you're playing modern recordings that have more low end, you won't get the low end expected of a sensitive speaker as big as these.Yes and no. They play flat and flat to some people is shy on bass. Some like a house sound (And that's eq the bass up). You are probably looking for that. I'm telling you they will shake your house if you set them up too. But they will also play flat. 22. Yes, all is right with the jumpers. I in fact replaced the stock jumpers.
