  1. Hey boa,I see you've been very busy,you've made"Freak".Congrats.

Mr.Blorry,I do have one problem where I live that I hate in a very big way.

The children down past us,about 600',have thump, thump car. That crap thumps into my house at times, but I stand it.

I don't get even with them, don't want to even come close to figuring out what's in my house. However they would need a lot of time and help to remove any of my stuff.

My 70 year old mother lives with us(we get along great)and she sleeps with "something"close by,and my wife is a 911 supervisor.Even if we get any complaints,we know all of the Law.

    Music in "Direct"only!

DH Labs T-14 speaker wire to the front 3.

Horns & Heresy bi-wired using Monster XPHP for the bass.

    Stinger Queen interconnects.

  2. "two years older than dirt"really cracked my wife and I up.Townhouse and apts would not work for me,I DON"T LIKE ANYONE bothering me,so I live 800'from the main road on 4.5 acers. It's great.Tough it out till you get out.

Don't you just hate it when people say"Klipsch?"what's that?It really pisses me off when they say"Klips".That's even worse.

Tell your landlord that Klipsch doesn't make headphones.

  3. Troy, when I had some Forte I's I tried this:I pointed the tweeters, left at the right side of my couch and right at the left side.Thought it would work as this is how my system is in my truck.

Found that if I took some of that toe out it improved. So just play with it till youare happy.Start with Phil H's plan and go from there. Here is a site I found that might be of interest. www.geocities.com/p_iturra/Placement.html

    Happy toeing!!

    Forgot to mention,my K-Horns are toed in!(he,he)

  4. All monster stuff, interconnects and speaker.

The speaker wire was some big monster silve jacket, maybe bi-wire.I don't remember.I'll find out and get back Friday, same bat time, same bat channel.

Sorry I didn't pay that close attention,I use DH Labs and wasn't that interested, but it was big and fat.

You can just see it in one of my pictures

  5. GeorgeC,

    we met also.

Phil H and myself played with the "new"stuff quite a bit.Even after everyone was going home on Tuesday.Sorry fellows,I never really cared about the Reference line.

THIS NEWER LINE IS ANOTHER STORY.I like it a lot.Even out in the open the RSW-15 was amazing, truly amazing.Handled what ever we through at it.

    By the way,feeding this new stuff was the aragon soundstage pre,matching DVD player,and the aragon 8008 X 5 amp.Pre $4,000,8008 $4,000.The 8008 is 200X5.

The new lines finishes are beautiful.

    The spl on the RF-7 is(i believe)102 and the RS-7 is 99dB.

They are an addition to the reference line.

    They match.

The RSW-15 sub will mate with anything from Heritage,Legend,Forte,Chorus and all.

    It is BRUTALs>!

Gerico,Trey and myself got to hang out for most of the evening. At least till 11 or so.Hard to remember how late it gets when your having fun.We went to the AV Science buffet and won some of the give-aways.

Also got a couple of pictures of Paul and myself.

One thing I want to add:the "neighbors"around the Klipsch booth at one time had a problem with their own demo,do you think Klipsch can get a bit load and over power the"other"guys?

One last thing to add,I would love to get my hands on 2 of these new 15"subs.

  6. Na,let's don't.I still want to go to Fla.to do some Q movies myself.I'm real happy with mine, but now I'm not happy with the In Walls.Just not enough spl to keep up with the front end.

Had to set the front 3 at -6 and the sides +6 and the IW's +12.Wish now I had gotten the IW-250's.They are 93dB instead of 90dB.

    O Well,wish,wish,wish&want,want,want!

  7. Thanks Seb,I still have trouble believing it myself. It is still changing and I've added a Denon 3801.Now I can do DTS ES discret.

The "Haunting"in DTS ES and "Gladiator"also in DTS ES just came today.Wish I had time to watch them both tonight.

Below is the way it is now:

  8. Have been trying to improve my center channel ever since I got my K-Horns both tonaly and spl.

    Finally I've gotten every close.

I found a(sorry)replica K-Horn type squawker.Speaker Lab made something very close.I mounted it in a box and my Heresy center sits on it.I'm using an AA network with only the 2 2uf caps changed. The woffer inductor has been changed.

The level is now the same as my Horns and it sounds so very close that it's hard to tell.

    Hope the pictures work.

  9. KlipschHT.jpg

Q-Man,I have been looking forward to the day I coud see your set-up.

Very nice,I sure do wish I could get a La Scala to fit above my TV.

Klipschorns make for a very nice sounding Home Theater,I know those of you that have had the chance to experience one will know what I mean.

A very good friend of mine and I are going to Atlanta today(5 hour drive)to get his Klipschorns. We are adding them to the La Scalas that are already part of his home theater that we have not yet completed.

He is looking into at least one more La Scala.

At the front of my HT are a pair of 1977 Klipschorns with a 1975 Heresy center.

  10. sunnysal,

I got the"Prototypes"and I love them. What a diiference.Smooth and very clean.Made a nice improvement to my 77'K-Horns.I too noticed the cleaner and more"direct"sound.I haven't found any music that it hasn't improved yet.I do prefer the 2 5 setting over the "Normal"5 2 setting.Tryed the 5 1 just for fun and changed it back. That realy laid the mids back too much.Think I'll try it your way just to see(or hear)what that does.I'm going to rewire the tweeter and squawker to network this weekend.

  11. A pair of big 1972 Radio Shack 12" woofer things that I can't even remember the models. They had 3 tweeters and 1 12" woofer in each that the cross over had to deal with, and adjustable high and mid controls.

Had them untill 89',that's when my X and I parted. Some months later I got my KG-3's.The Heresy I've got now I've had since 78',had to just about steal it from her.

My loving wife of present,Becky, lets me spend money on Klipsch. She knows what sounds great.

    Life is great!

  12. OK! How you guys doin that????

Al,I've got the Horns sounding as good as I can with just the Denon,Love to hear them with the AL cross-overs.

db,Chipper and Nipper are now looking for one of those old phonographs, the one with the big bell horn. One that is the right size for them.

Thanks guys,it really sounds great, bass is near flat and goes down to 25hz,does not over power and keeps up with the Horns.

Music is with the Horns only.

  13. John, thanks,I'll figure it out one of these days.

Tony and Josh, thanks. The false walls are 32"out and everything is flush. If either of you want to see it I have a slide show that's easy to e-mail.The wife and I are real happy with it.I have plans on adding some Bryston power later.About 89'I started messing with HT and this is my best work.

  14. I hope it worked this time.Pay no attention to the way the link is worded, that's the way it's in my files,it does not imply that it's Bigger.

  15. Ray and BobO,I am in complete agrement with you both

Yep,that I would say is extreme.I'll just stick with 200 or so with my Horns and Heresy

I have heard my KG-3s and later my KG-4s clip using a 50X2 reciever.Even my Chorus has cliped using 80X2.The Chorus never clipped when I ran them with a 105X5 B&K amp with 3090 B&K pre-amp.I was not realy happy cause I found I could run the volume all the way to it's limit and stand to be in the room.YES it was painful, but it was concert level.I don't do that anymore, only once just to see if it would handle it.

I believe it's only too much when you abuse it.

  16. Too much power has never hurt anything, too little is time to replace drivers. Now if you think it has to be turned up all the way, that is anouther matter.I talking solid state not tube.My Denon 85X5 has never pushed more than 2 watts into my 77'Horns(have a watt meter on them)They stay, with music,at around 1/2 a watt.Movies I've seen it just touch 2 watts.Point is I'm looking into 200 per channel minimum.Just for the pure slam and not having to worrie about clipping my tweeters out the door.

I would love to have a nice 3 or 4 watt tube amp,but my system does both music and movies.I'll stick with SS.

You will never use near that much power, but it doesn't hurt to have it.
