  1. Mornin' everybody. All this car talk is a message to me from the Auto Gods to get my ancient Pathfinder in for oil and a good going over before long. Winter can come early here. What's really unreliable are the weather forecasts!

Best part of today will be our granddaughter's 2d birthday ... will have a nice family party at the park. Temps are warm and the sun is shining.

    Enjoy your weekend. Cheers.

  2. There's some good sounding advice on this thread guys ...thanks. I'm no stranger to smoking meat, especially pork, but a beef brisket has always seemed a little intimidating, especially after some of the dry, nasty stuff served in most restaurants. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

  3. Back again guys. Had a great vacation in Taos, NM. Great scenery, mountains, food and even some fellowship along the way. One of the highlights was a 2 mile hike in the mountains with Better Half and Baxter.

Good to be back .... there are so many 'likes' that I'll never catch up and will just take it from this point forward.

Happy Friday everyone. Have a great day and cheers to all.

  4. Sounds like a god weekend Chuck.  I'll be slaving away in the bathroom as usual this weekend BUT Saturday night we have tickets to see the Marine Corp Band.  Can't wait.

Enjoy the band. On the other subject, just don't tell your friends that you spent the weekend in the bathroom ... they might not understand. :D

  5. Mornin' all. Looks like some rain on the way, but pretty tame compared to you East coasters. Getting ready to pack some stuff and load better half and Baxter in the SUV and head south to Taos for a few days. Will check in when I can. We love northern NM. Friendly folks, good chow and great scenery. Supposed to have an arts festival going on this weekend.

Hang in there guys and check back in a bit. Happy Friday everyone and cheers. Chuck.

  6. So sorry Schu. This seems to happen again and again with UPS. We all should scratch them off our list of shippers permanently. Their performance reflects an 'I don't give a s*** ' attitude that probably starts at the top and permeates the ranks of the company. That's just inexcusable and is even more aggravated by the shipping costs today. Good luck on the claim.

  7. Mornin' guys. Just wanted to check in. Looks like our dry, dry climate is starting to come around. Got a little rain yesterday along with some (yuck) hail. Not enough to damage anything. Planning a long weekend in Taos, NM in a few days to visit family and attend an arts festival. Will take a gorgeous mountain pass into NM near the border of the 2 states. Seriously thinking of moving to that area when better half's job situation permits.

JL ...love the camel. Do you recall the truck line that used a camel as its logo with the legend "Humping to Please"? I think we should adopt that as our motto every Wednesday. (Maybe other days, too).

    Cheers to all.

  8. Hey gang, Happy Tuesday. Celebrating Coffee Day with 2.5 cups down.

Carl, that project is looking great. Tile work can be tedious but worth it. Especially like the idea of floor tile. On our remodel, we opted for a fancy shower pan on the floor but had the ceiling tiled. I like your approach better I think.

Try to check back later. Cheers guys.

  9. Mornin' guys .. still have a few 'likes' to catch up on but wanted to check in. Great pics Wardsweb!! Wish I could have been there.

Busy Sunday here ... gonna meet up with a neice from Pueblo who is in town for a concert and then prep the smoker for ribs. Celebrating my daughter-in-law's birthday here. Will have them, our 2 yr old granddaughter and their tiny dog to go along with us and Baxter. Should be a bit chaotic but lots of fun. Bax doesn't realize he's been 'fixed' and thinks he's in love with the little dog. One can dream, I guess. :P

Have a great Sunday and cheers to ya'll.

  10. Mornin' guys and Happy Friday. This should be a good retiree Friday out here. Great weather, grass to cut, buddy coming down from Longmont for lunch and maybe a jam session this afternoon. And ... NO problem with the eye floater. Thank God for good docs.

Chuck .... Jake looks like he loves baths as much as Baxter, 'cept Bax usually gets taken to a DIY dog wash.

Wardsweb ... be sure to report back on your audio meeting with pics if possible. Sounds cool.

    Cheers to all.

  11. Mornin' all. Looks like another pretty day. Have to see the eye doc later on for a 'floater' in my right eye. Supposedly common for old farts. They can be serious or not and this one doesn't seem to be a big deal so hoping for an easy fix. Planning on meeting up with some friends afterwards.

Have a great day and will try to check back later. Cheers.

  12. Happy Tuesday morning guys. Catchin' up on my likes. Early fall weather has been great and going to work on outdoor projects today and probably play some tunes. Need to get my guitar bud over here for real inspiration. Better half at work.

    billybob ...welcome to geezerville!!

Anyway these are my disjointed thoughts for a Tuesday. Cheers............

  13. Happy Sunday guys. Fun day yesterday at a wedding. Ceremony at the Air Force Academy chapel followed by a reception and dinner at  a mountain resort. Usually not a big fan of wedding parties but this one was fun. These kids did it right ... glad it was on someone else's nickel. :D

Gonna kick back a bit today and bbq late afternoon. Cheers!!

  14. Mornin' guys ... was off yesterday and still catching up. Great weather here ... sunny with temps in 70s and 80s. Heading down to Colorado Springs today for a wedding at the Air Force Academy. Have driven by it hundreds of times but never went inside. Should be interesting. May go down a bit early for a trip to a great coffee shop in Manitou Springs (next to Pike's Peak).

JEF ... great story about your dad. Thanks for sharing it.

    Cheers to all.

  15. Mornin' gang. Pretty day here and no rain in the forecast. Managed to keep a nice lawn all summer due to lack of watering restrictions. The key here is a good snow pack in the mountains and fairly wet spring. That keeps the nice people who dictate watering practices (I lovingly think of them as the 'Water Nazis') from turning everyone's lawn and plants into crispy critters.

Missed ya'll yesterday. Probably exhasted from all the coffee jokes.

Baxter sends a woof to Jake. Cheers to all.

  16. I started with a non-matching set up around a pair of KLF-30's and later found a killer deal on the KLF center and a pair of KLF-10's for surrounds. We lived with that initial set up for quite a while and were happy so fear not. (We did get 'happier' when we got sonically matched up, however!) The point is to get a good start and look for upgrade deals as you go.
