  1. You hit the nail on the head, Chuck. I say that at the risk of sounding like my parents. Gotta say I was open minded enough to listen to and like a lot of their stuff. What I find encouraging is that many young folks are tuned into the old stuff I liked as a kid and still like. From my musician perspective, I look at hip hop as irritating noise rather than music and "new Country" as cookie cutter bubble gum pop music with little resemblance to the real roots of the genre. Thank God for the kids who understand the difference. Leaves hope for some real musicians and song writers to break through.

    As you said, I don't have to listen .... and I don't.

  2. Happy Tuesday gang. This retirement thing is not exciting but ya know I'm good with that. Biggest agenda item is painting our shed and getting it done before Colorado spring weather decides to attack. Baxter will assist. I did get a secondary system set up yesterday in my better half's girl cave. Had an old pair of Heresy II's which are now installed and sound great along with the a Marantz cdp and lower powered Marantz integrated amp. She'll have some good sound to go with her stained glass projects.

Back in a bit .... Cheers!!

  3.

Mornin folks. Good day yesterday. Put the Oppo into the 2 ch system. Sounds very good and is definitely an upgrade from the Marantz CD5003, which now goes to the girl cave. (My better half's stained glass studio). Much more clarity and detail, maybe not as warm but that's ok.

Hey Chuck, Jake thinks he smells just fine.

Mark, congrats for staying on the wagon. Been on the 'wagon' almost 20 years myself.

Gonna hickory smoke some ribs today. Mmmm. Later guys ...........

Well iv been doing this on and off when needed, for well over 30 years, Flight Dominates my life, everything else takes a back seat. never been a problem setting down the bottle(s) for a few weeks or month as needed.

I do like spending the night or two for a flyin, that way i find a great local pub :emotion-21:

That's great, Mark. No offense intended and hopefully none taken. Chuck.

  5. Nice photo Gary!

Coffee done.  A dreary day here so I think I'll do a guitar lesson via youtube.  Not making much progress with that I'm afraid.

May take Jake in for a much needed bath at the do it yourself spa.

Cooking another chuck roast this afternoon.

    Cheers :emotion-44: Gents

    Huh?? Chuck roast!!?? :o

  6. Mornin' guys. Ran out of time yesterday but will be putting the Oppo 95  into the 2 ch system today. Will give an update. Sorta feel guilty just using it as a cdp but I'll get over it. We have a 103 in the HT system.

Pretty day out here. Should be sunny and in the 70's which is well above average. There are probably a couple of good dog walks on the agenda. Baxter keeps us under surveillance and goes nuts if we even get near his leash.

Will try to check in later and, of course, cheers to all.

Will be interested to hear your impression of the Oppo... :)

Not you but the player...Yes, UPS...oh well football season is over... :)

Will do. The good thing about Oppo-95 and some of the more recent models is they seem to hold re-sale value pretty well. If we don't like it and the UPS gorillas don't get it, we shouldn't have a problem passing it along. We'll see!!

I marked it special handling, fragile just for you.

Arrrrgggggggghhh!!! Damn, that's awful. Seriously, we got it today and it looks fine. Short on time and just haven't put it in the system yet. Seller did what appears to be a really good packing job. Functionality remains to be tested, but like I said, we'll see. Later folks.

  9. Well we've got some great weather coming over the next few days but Colorado is never out of the woods with possible snow until mid to late May and it's always a possibility in high elevations. So ... you guys are actually spoiled. You just didn't know it!! Ha!!!

Hey Chuck ....  Baxter wants jake to know that he can dig it.

Should get the new/used oppo-95 today sometime. More on that later. The seller shipped UPS and I'm never too thrilled with that.

  10. Hey everybody..... I've just been following the posts without much to report on this end. Rainy day in Denver metro with a bit of a chill. 2 cups down. I like the smoker pics and thinking about trying a similar model this year. Most of my smoking has been on my over sized Weber on steroids. Does a good job but a dedicated unit like that would be fun.

Waiting on the 'pre-owned' Opp BDP-95 I got in an auction. Should arrive tomorrow sometime. Will try it out as a 2 ch cdp first and then go from there.

Will try to check back in a bit. Cheers.

  11. Glad you're on the mend Dtel.

Dave ... maybe put up sign in the baby's room  .... "No painting the baby!" Then again, you might have to read it to his brother.

Not much on tap today. Heading out to Kohl's to pick up a couple of items.

    Happy St. Patty's day guys.

  12. Happy late mornin guys (depending on your time zone). Spent most of yesterday outdoors in perfect weather. Better half, Baxter and I went to a local spice shop and stocked up, followed by a visit to a rushing Colorado creek running through parts of the downtown area. Lots of families, kids and dogs. Topped the day off watching Steve Carell's newer movie about John DuPont. Well done but dark!! Will look for lighter fare next time.

Chuck, your LF looks like a real sweetheart. Congrats.

    Later ..............

  13. Happy Sunday, all. My first car was a used '67 Mustang. Sounds cool but it was junk. Replaced it with a VW Beetle which lasted many years.

Good day yesterday ... won an auction for an oppo bdp-95 which will be used mostly as a cdp upgrade in the 2 ch system. Out to dinner with a large group of friends and my better half last night. Looking at some bbq today with near record temps and sunshine. If I were a skier, I'd be heading for the slopes. Great spring skiing in Colorado.

Check back in a bit. Cheers!!

  14. Mornin all. Looks like I missed a bunch late yesterday. Fun memories with the posts on Ford Galaxies, fairlanes, etc. For me it was the parents' ford station wagon and later a VW Beetle. ( I was more limber back then.)

Full day of friends and family. Will work Baxter's walk in too. And ... just won an ebay auction for an Oppo BDP-95. Yeah, I know, but the guy's got great feedback and 100% positive rating. We'll see, huh.

    Check back in a bit.

  15. Oh hell, with all the great weather reports from you guys, and the fact that it's pretty decent here, I just may feel compelled to go out and trim back a couple of our tall grasses and a rose bush or two.

Paint job looks great Chuck. Great colors and quality work. Still waiting to schedule our job.

    Cheers.

  16.

Been raining here for the past 4 days or so.  Everything is squishy outside.  It sounds like the dog is walking on a soaked sponge as he meanders the back yard.  We've got some sunny and mid 70 days coming up.  Maybe I can paint some trim on the outside of the house today.

I'm about half way through a bag of Nicaraguan and have a 2 lb bag of Kona waiting.  I'm humming Carly Simons "Anticipation".

Ya Know, if someone in Colorado were to read that statement they might think we are having a good tome here....

Hmmmmm ....."if someone in Colorado...." ......I wonder what he means by that ................

  17. Mornin all. Where are the rest of my C&C buds? Today's my big chance to show off my handyman skills by replacing our front door handle and latch since the old one crapped out. Should be a 20 minute job after obtaining the new stuff so I estimate I'll be done in 2.5 hours.

Forgot to mention that Baxter "graduated" from puppy obedience school this past Saturday. Hard to tell based on his performance at home. Practice, practice ....

Still feeling queasy over the mere suggestion of the cabbage soup diet and revolted over the prospect of the Dolly diet!!

Try to check back in a while. Cheers.

  18. Monsoon Malibar...sounds yummy. :)

You...losing weight there at the fridge at 2 @m :)

Just remember there is the cabbage soup diet. 10-17 lbs. in 7 days. Some merit as to the claim that, it may be water that you loose. However, if you are at a barrier you cannot penetrate with other diet, psych up and do a week without cheating to see how much you loose.

Please take the word"diet" with a bit of caution. Do not on a whole subscribe to that position. Have done this diet a couple of times and lost. See how much you have to loose.

***Keeping it off for a month after is the real test.

    Dolly Parton diet

    Mayo Clinic diet

    Cabbage Soup diet

Was going to yammer on for a bit more but, the more soup you eat, the more you tend to loose. Plenty online.

The cabbage thing would make me sick, but maybe that's the idea. Tried the Dolly Parton but my breasts were getting too large for a guy so I quit.

    Happy Tuesday guys.

  19. Welcome and best of luck with the sale. Since you gotta find the right buyer with the right space for these, marketing them with pictures is essential. Would also help a lot to know for sure that they are in working condition. Perhaps someone from a local stereo or electronics store could assist in that regard.

  20. Mornin all. Looks like I missed a bunch yesterday. Spent the day on chores, visiting with kids, listening to some vintage vinyl and cooking some ribeyes over mesquite. Also saw the new Hunger Games/Mockingjay movie on the HT. Pretty good if you get a chance to see it.

Nice paint job, Chuck. Just got an estimate on our place and it's half the amount the first guy quoted. We know the second guy and he does good work, so I gave him the work. Will update on this later.

Check back in a bit.....Cheers to all.
