  1. I've done the deed in the kitchen too.
  2. Good idea, unless you're solely into the gear. Here's another one that should be good: http://cgi.ebay.com/MFSL-UHQR-SEALED-LP-PINK-FLOYD-DARK-SIDE-OF-THE-MOON_W0QQitemZ190077509824QQihZ009QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. Your explanation sounds good to me.
  4. A friend of mine told me an engineer buddy of his said that parametric EQs should be illegal for home listeners to own.
  5. I was totally unaware of that; thanks for the info.
  6. I think the 3-way cinema one is rated at handling 500W, if I remember correctly. Anyone know the figure for the 2-way with the 402 top?
  7. The interesting thing is that PaulN is realizing that there is something missing in his topology of choice, SET, that he is trying to obtain from a solid state amp. And to top it off, PaulN is playing LOUDER. What's going on, PaulN?
  8. Most residential listening rooms won't accomodate 300 people?? So? What difference does it make to a listener whether the highs are coming out of the horn with massive EQ to get it, or out of a tweeter?
  9. It seems to me that we're not getting the full story on the negatives of EQ. Obviously there is a price to be paid for it or it wouldn't matter what the heck components were in any speaker--all one would have to do is EQ the **** out of the speaker and everything would be peachy. The big mystery is why the Jubilee transformed from a 2-way home speaker to a 3-way behind-the-screen cinema speaker. If the 2-way system being promoted here is so great, why does it need to be a 3-way in a theater?
  10. So are Jubilees in your future, Lisa?
  11. I'm not following your explanation, Dean. Are you talking about Khorn scenarios or Jubilee scenarios? Are you talking about if one didn't use crossover networks? I sure wouldn't call the massive amount of EQ needed in the Jubilee "a little boost." I still think the BBC mini monitor LS3/5a would be good for you. Yes, it applies a tremendous amount of bass compensation to counteract the tiny size of the speaker, but cheating with EQ is a good thing, right?
  12. For those of us who can't hear above 4.5KHz, do we need to be running tweeters at all?
  13. I think the idea of the three-way is that way you don't have to EQ the ever-loving **** out of the 402 horn to get a good frequency response. But then the Jubilee's whole original purpose in being was to be a two-way. Interesting, isn't it?
  14. I think it was locked down to protect the Parrot from being called names.
  15. I say Go for it, Lisa. Everyone should have three pairs of Khorns. Or, if Smilin won't give them up, why not buy a 402 horn to swap with one of your existing Khorn tops?
  16. From the other thread: The cool part about this is Dean still has those khorns in his house. It's an interesting position to be in. I actually should have bought them. My gut's telling me I'm going to end up where those khorns are already at to some degree. Although not a fan of oak, they 'are' the lighter version which I appreciate over the dark walnut tone. Heck, I have a slab of MDF propped against one of mine as a 1/2-a**ed false corner. Right now, it's propped up with a chair! A wimpy chair to boot. At least I'll get to hear them. Maybe..... maybe....
  17. You think he'd swap out Mudvayne for Berlioz, Larry?
  18. Yeah, it was a battle over Dean's musical soul, and the Bad Cowboy won. But only for a year or so.
  19. You can always paint them. Just run some sandpaper over the veneer a little to get a good surface for the white (?) paint to adhere to.
  20. Things That Supposedly Don't Matter Concerning The Jubilee: 1) The room 2) The amplification 3) The crossover network 4) The top horn 5) The aesthetics
  21. This is the most reasonable post I've yet read on the Jubilee's sonics.
  22. You're welcome. It also confirms what I said.
  23. Okay, here's my prediction. You'll buy an acoustically transparent movie screen that'll drop down from the ceiling and go wall to wall. Cheaper and easier than making the Jubilees look like PWK envisioned them.
  24. No, he actually said this: i find this talk of small room/med room/large room/men's room kinda of interesting. it seems that no one is taking into account the directivity of the system. and i don't mean just jubs; just directivity in general. a tightly controlled pattern greatly reduces involving the room. i have heard low directivity systems and high directivity systems in all kinds of room and those with high/controlled directivity are not as bothered with size of the room that much. now if you are talkling low end gain, small room can give excellent loading thus increasing how low the system will go, so again a small room can be an advantage. when i was playing with car stereo, in reg cab s-10 pickup, the bass loading started at around 200 hz, so with more air, that moves down. i think that dean is not taking a step backards.....i think he will doing a soft shoe jig!!
