    Rsw-15 help

Well I fixed it for now. Sounds amazing. My buddy does auto body work for a living and he have me a two part epoxy that they use on newer cars to glue the quarter panels on. This stuff is nasty. Says it stronger than a weld so we will see. So far so good. I will be buying a new driver soon for the just in case factor, but as long as this holds I will keep using the driver.

    Rsw-15 help

I really hate to do that to him. He had it packed very well. If fed ex would treat there packages better this would have never happened. He is trying to fix the problem with me so that's a plus. I want to see what fed ex is going to do about it. They wanted to pick the sub up from me and send it back to him. He told them that he don't want it back. And just to leave me have it.

    Rsw-15 help

I'm really thinking about it. The guy I bought the sub from filed a claim with fed-ex. It was insured. So we'll see if anything comes from that. I'm just happy I can still get the driver form klipsch if I go that way.

    Rsw-15 help

I will be buying a different driver. The two on eBay are already getting expensive, and I'm worried the same thing might happen if I buy the whole package. I hope I can find someone who will part one out and just sell me the driver. Cheaper shipping and better for the driver. I'll try the JB weld and see how long it will last. Hopefully I can find a driver by the time it fails.

    Rsw-15 help

It was shipped to me strapped on a pallet. The box pallet showed no abuse and seller had it packed very well. Maybe that's what happened. That magnet is huge.

    Rsw-15 help

Here's some pics. And no the sub was not dropped or abused in anyway. Looks like a very bad casting to me the way it cracked and broke

    Rsw-15 help

Well it's out. It's not blown either. I figured out what's wrong. Basically the entire frame of the driver is cracked/broken. If I can figure out how to load pics using a an iphone I'll post pics.

    Rsw-15 help

Trying to take the driver out. The driver is in there so tight that when I tried to lift up on where the screws go I snapped part of the metal frame. The mounting surface and gasket are all lifted off the cabinet. The driver just won't move. When I pull up on the outer part of the driver it only lifts up as far as the rubber will let it

    Rsw-15 help

Do I have to take the passive sub out first? I have the top where I can lift it off the box but no way is the sub even moving. I can't even spin it. It's like there's mounting tabs or brackets on the inside or something.

Alright stupid question.. How do you take the sub out? Have all torx screws out I can't get this thing out. Also looks like the mounting ring of the sub is cracked in 3 places. Not happy at this point.

If klipsch does have a repair kit how hard are they to do? Never done anything like this before.

I am watching those two on eBay right now. Would love to find someone on here that has one with a bad amp and is will to part it out so I don't have to pay the high shipping.

    Rsw-15 help

I'm going to tonight. If your facing the back of the sub (where the amp controls are) the left side of the sub doesn't move when you push on it. The right side does. So when playing, if you lightly push the right side in it plays and sounds great. It's like the sub is crooked on the travel. Maybe something wedged between the sub and the frame of the sub?

Would a bad driver sound perfect when you lightly push it in when playing?

    Rsw-15 help

I just got an rsw-15 and when I play it I get no bass at all. Now if you lightly push the active sub in and hold it while it's getting a signal it plays and sounds great. When not playing if you lightly push the woofer in it feels like it's dragging on something. I have not had the cabinet apart yet, I will later tonight. Any ideas on what cod have happened? Thanks in advance.
  21. Part of the problem is I don't have the speakers yet. Been looking for a few weeks, with no luck.
  22. As far as taken the outside, they would really be In the garage on a piece of cardboard. I could always not use the citation amp and just use the HK 3490. (120 watts a Chanel) for the outside drinking parties. Is there a different set of vintage klipsch speakers that have the active/passive subwoofer that can handle 300 watts of power? I'm new to the whole klipsch speaker thing so I'm unsure. Thanks for all the great advice.
  23. Thanks for the welcome and reply. I thought they would be ok with the citation. I'm thinking by the time I get the volume knob a 1/4 of the way up the chorus ll's should be 10 times louder then the cerwins with how much more efficient they are.
  24. Hi I'm new here and have some questions. I'm into two channel stereo and I'm looking to upgrade my cerwin vega E-715 to Klipsch Chorus II speakers. Now my question is I know there rated 100 watts with 1000 watts peak. My set up as of now is: H/K HK 3490 using as a preamp H/K citation 5.1 bridged 300 wpc main amp H/K hd 990 CD player H/K ST-7 turn table. Klipsch RSW-15 powered sub Cerwin vega E7-15 I've read where people where throwing a lot of power to these speakers and as long as they don't distort they can handle it. They won't be played loud all the time, but I do throw out door parties where the volume seems to get louder the more we drink. Just don't want to hurt the speakers. Will this set up work? I really hate to get rid of the 5.1 as it was given to me by a friend who is no longer alive. Thanks for the help.
