ya cant make a better looking horn than the 402. I'm just in for a smaller one!
20k? I do a sweep like this and my ears are done at 16k and that's pretty faint. after that it's just colored lights on the screen.

roy your correct. i worked up this today. a 2" driver (4592) on a 400hz horn. covers 300hx -3db to 20khz -8db. holds steady to 19k.... good enough for me.

I'm glad you guys are happy with the Trachorns. We love building them here. All the credit goes to Al, He came up with a workable design that fits into the klipsch products, and brought it to market for you.
Yep, I'm on the jub train. I'm going to have to give up my industrial, black, non grilled, jbl cinima's!
I'm still pondering what horn to use on top of the jub. I'm leaning toward a single larger horn. Similar to Al's Trachorn but larger for a 2" driver. maybe a mouth size around 10 x 22. I can use a BMS 4592 coax if i can get enough hi freq out of the horn. Even if the jub is 104db the top horn will need some 12db attenuation so there is a lot of room for using a bypass cap in the attenuation. Still, that big a horn is more than likely not going to be the best sounding tweeter.
Might be better to use a 4592 midrange only driver and then a small tweeter on the side. I would like to keep it simple with just a single horn. I'm going to have to get a proto made up and see what kind of results happen.

Thanks for the wonderful work and contributions for the jubilee. I was always taken back by the k horns when I was a kid but never managed to get a pair. I think your work on the jubilee is marvelous, and I hope to be working on a clone for my living room with the help of all the other folks who have been researching this design.

The workmanship is quite stunning. The time spent on the paint and finish makes them fit to be outside of the grille cloth.
There is an 1/8" bending ply you'll want to look. It's made in Italy and is poplar.

All the suggestions are good for sealing cabinets. I use autobody fillers or epoxy's for large voids or gaps. these are not flexible and less likely to be taken apart but are sandable.
Calk for running a bead around the internal cabinet for air sealing is great. Silicone is the best and DAP acrylics are cheaper and easier to use with a life expectancy that will out live the cabinet.
Also available at home depot now is a sealant called SIKA Sika Flex has been around the industrial world for years and may be worth a look for your project.

Thanks for the nice compliments. MAF was good time this year and keeps getting better. Mike Baker did one hell of a job with this promotion and it's only been two years. I hope he decides to stick with it and continue the annual event. Like many of you who were able to attend. I was very disappointed that Klipsch was not able to attend as a vendor. I hope for future MAF events they can bring the Heritage line up. For those who stopped by to visit and listen. It was great to meet you. See you all at next year's MAF

I had found a web page as a link on a thread here from a gentlman who installed 511B's into his khorns. It was a bit of work as outlined by the pictures but a clean install and the grill went on to cover it all. very nice, and an inexpensive sulution if the 511B will do what your looking for.
It also seems for an even simpler test to to install vanes into the K400. If the horn is metal. You need only find a good welder with a light foot and have the vanes tig 'd in.
A while back DJK had done some K400 horns in a plastic I believe. He had different throat size available at that time and it might be possible for vanes to be installed in those horns. I have not spoke to him but some of you guys probably know him well.

Yes the Jubilee is the cabinet I was referring to. This is a very handsome design, I hope it does well for Klipsch when final release is available. I also hear from the people I have been talking to that it isn't so much a sound difference that is desired yet better dispersion. I believe this can be accomplished with the throat piece used and the flare. The wood horn are not exactly "solid" wood, as in machined from a single source. The construction can be seen on my website of exactly how the horns are laid up and put together. Although this is not a true lamination. The side are assembled cross grained to the top and bottom. Wood resonance has not been an issue to date, and the tone of the wooden horn is what gives it the tone and sound that it has. It's possible that this could be what a person likes as in an aluminum Altec. Its also quite possible this is what would not be liked. At this time however, there are no plans to change the design into a laminated product. I think you'll find that the way the 4 pieces are laid up that this really wouldn't be an issue for anyone.

This sounds like an interesting possibility. I think the Khorns are a great speaker and I personally like the version of the corner horn with PWK standing next to it. This version has the horn sitting on top of the cabinet. The vanes would be a nice feature also. My first question is what are you looking for in sound that is different than your original K400 horn.

I waved it around the TV with no ill effects. I was originally going to use this driver but had passed it up because the 811 horn it was on, I decided was a little large for a center speaker. (for now)
just ordered a new bolt on horn lense that will replace the CH3 I had used. might still need to ad a small bullet for some extended high end twinkle.
I have a few other center speaker and this one is by far much better.

I have some 807-8 i will have to give a try. if those are not alnico I will be on a hunt! I called Klipsch in hopes to purchase a horn driver from a RC-7 or the like. they are not for sale so I was told.

I would like to purchase a Shielded compression driver to use with a horn in a center channel speaker.
1 3/8 screw would be best but not limiting.

Not that I know of.This is Dana's design and I've not seen the plans. I was going to build a set for myself since I'm retired from the audio business now. I have Jube plans and Hartsfield plans so I'm going with either of those two. I believe any of the three can be voiced quite dramatically and with out splitting hairs I would be happy listening to them all.
