  1. Your link goes to www.seejack.com Ouch that music is painful....
  2. Well I right-clicked my taskbar after setting the Audigy mixer back to 4 speaker again and clicked on "Always hide CL speaker icon" (the volume controls icon) in the taskbar properties box in XP Pro. I rebooted my machine yesterdayand.....Taa daa taskbar unused icon arrow is back and speakers stayed in 4 speaker mode... Hey, maybe it's not a fix but it worked for me.
  3. All updated and newest Audigy drivers, prior to my last post...I was hoping you'd have the answer though BTW I read somewhere recently, that when you hit 20,000 posts...The World is going to end...
  4. After every reboot...If I open the mixer I can reset it to 4 speaker sound..But opening the mixer disables my "Hide the unused icons arrow" in my taskbar. XP Pro is the OS I am running...I have "qudraphonic" chosen as my speaker set up in Control Panel.
  5. Newegg.com was in the process of becoming and Autorized Klipsch dealer when I purchased from them...Klipsch may actually accept that since they were considering making them a dealer anyway...I'll wait to see what Amy says.
  6. I bought them from newegg.com in December. I will get ahold of Amy and see what it is she thinks I should do from here. I am assuming that Klipsch will want to do the exchange and that they will not recommend that I return anything to newegg. It would certainly be easier to return the sub only, or would I have to return the whole set?
  7. quote: Originally posted by gabriel11: Well I tried the adapter trick.....They sound AWFUL Now that I've tried the adapter test and found the same distortion (or worse...buzz too) I can assume that it's the speakers. I posted Leeb's reply because he too was an Audigy owner and had a similar problem...his cleared up with the removal of one of the speaker jacks...mine does not, it stays distorted whether I unplug a sat or not. Now when the speakers are plugged in as front only or rear only the distortion is not present...It's a 4 speaker together thing. This message has been edited by gabriel11 on 06-09-2002 at 11:05 PM

  10. Justin OI have purchased the adapter but have not used it...I am going to hook the speakers to an entirely different machine...and the test you are having me do with the portable cd player...fails to test the speakers in a "surround sound" mode. Remember I can adjust the distortion away in surround with a 4 speaker fader in Audigy or Turtle Beach mixer. But centered sounds awful...I think it's a surround sound issue..and hence prolly the amp.
  11. I unplugged the wires from the soundcard and connected front first, then rear, directly to the portable cd player.
  12. Thx Justin....there was also a question in that last post too...you seem fixated on that adapter.... JK.
  13. Wrong plug Justin...but thx anyway...I have a Gateway PII 233...Win 98se and a CL Soundblaster Live Value card. That supports 4.1 doesn't it? Well, I'm going to dig it out of storage and give that a whirl as well...if I get bad 4 speaker sound then, can I assume it's the sub?
  14. But what of the rest of my post???
  15. Dang Justin...No Radio Shack part #? You're slipping Anyway I was confused about the mono y-adapter because of the speaker wire mod.... Doh! Anyway, if I try this and the sound is fine am I then to believe that it is absolutely NOT the speakers (sats or sub)? and that it must be a mobo problem... I have had this ASUS alittle over a year now and I have not updated the BIOS. Although I'm not sure if that would have any bearing on a problem such as this? Wouldn't it be more of a PCI slot problem, rather than the entire board?
  16. A stereo to mono Y-splitter? I'll try anything at this point... I have moved my soundcard to several different slots on my ASUS CUSL2-C mobo, to no avail. I also noticed that with both cards, Creative and Turtle Beach, that moving the fader setting away from the CENTERED DEFAULT setting clears up the distortion, but on returning the fader to center, the distortion returns. I thought this was a software issue due to CL's lousy drivers...however, the Turtle Beach card does the same thing. I was thinking SUB problem due to what others have posted, and the fact that the sats (although tested seperately) sounded good with another source...I greatly appreciate any/all time spent by others in my pursuit of Klipsch listening bliss. 17. I have seen posts describing similar scenarios...all resolved by new subs. Now if my sats sound good thru an alternative sound source...why can it NOT be the sub that distorts 4 point sound? Remember that when these sats are connected to the CD player, it is in sets of two...not all 4 at once, being given 4 seperate channels thru the subs circuitry. The logical conclusion now is....It's got to be the subs amp.
  18. I have had these 4.1's since Christmas morning, and they have never worked in 4 speaker mode with my Audigy...Get a NEW Audigy and the same bad 4 speaker sound. Speakers sound pretty good in 2 mode...Hmmm must be 2 bad Audigys that I ran across...I had read other negative posts about BAD 4.1's, but I was in denial...and I put up with just using 2 speakers and blaming Creative for "crap" XP drivers. BTW I had the latest Creative drivers for XP. Soooo, this past week, I call Klipsch and a helpful young lady there (not Amy) tells me to hook my speakers to another non-computer source. I hook them to my Denon portable CD player and the speakers sound BEAUTIFUL front set and rear... I call back and explain that the suggested test was sucessful and am told "it's not the speakers then"..."it's your soundcard"...So I get a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card (per Justin, he talks the SC up pretty good you know)....Now they sound better in 2 speaker mode, but equally bad in 4 speaker mode. I can't find the words to express my displeasure...Leeb was right, It's the sub. I purchased the 4.1's from Newegg.com. What to do now? I'm going to call tech support at Klipsch and convey my dilemma...if they'll listen? Also any gamers out there that use BattleCom, DO NOT get a Santa Cruz card as it is noisy to the other players that connect to the BC server with you...there is a bleedthru/echo that cannot be removed no matter what. And BigBusa...no need to say you told me so This message has been edited by gabriel11 on 06-07-2002 at 09:29 PM
  19. Let me apoligize 1st... Sorry...I edited my original post and it didn't work... I changed the whole "bad drivers" thing with a question regarding what you went through. Also, I didn't think that your post was to me only even if if it does appear that way, again my fault. I tried 2 cards as well, both Audigy though, and was under the impression that it was just a poor card/driver design. There are lot's of complaints out there regarding the Audigy line, so I figured that had to be what was wrong. I will attempt to replace the sub and see what happens, hopefully I get rich clear 4 speaker sound as you did. I appreciate the help... 20. My speakers sound BEAUTIFUL when hooked to anything (like my Denon portable CD player)except my Audigy...Why would I assume it's my speakers? If I hook them to the Audigy and try 4 speaker sound they all sound awful...If I open the Audigy mixer/fader and move the little yellow thing away from the center default setting....the distortion completely goes away...return it to center default setting...speakers sound like a radio that tuned slightly off the station, namely STATICY. So it's the sub you say? I'll check that out.... This message has been edited by gabriel11 on 05-09-2002 at 06:21 PM
  21. My Audigy does the same thing.... Creative suggested that the card be on it's own IRQ with PCI Steering as the only other thing that could share that same IRQ. Also the ACPI in BIOS should be disabled and then the OS re-installed over itself. If you are running Win 2K/XP then choose to "repair option" on the re-install...This can be done safely with any Windows product except 95. Santa Cruz cards aren't supposed to be on IRQ 9 and should also be alone or with PCI Steering only. Here's the info from Turtle Beach http://www.tbeach.com/site/kb_ftp/5854066.asp This message has been edited by gabriel11 on 05-08-2002 at 04:45 PM
  22. Try the speakers in 2 speaker mode instead of four. The hiss will distortion/hiss (whatever) will more than likely disappear. Also move the fader settings around in Audigy Surround Mixer and see if that clears things up... My Audigy sounds awful when my fader is in the "default" centered setting, yet the speakers sound wonderful when I move the fader to front, back or left, right anywhere but centered. Let me know. I have the Audigy Gamer under Win XP Pro.
  23. Don't download Musicmatch Jukebox...there are concerns with XP that need to be resolved. If you install it may make your cd drives invisible.
  24. go to www.tweakxp.com Look there for Live! problems and the fixes.
  25. Mine were good out of the box too....and no hiss or scratch or HOT sub either...
