Thanks for the advice. It does it in other outlets as well. May need a new drver then or just a new sub.

My 10" sub is about 8 years old and recently started huming when not connected. Also I have wired it both ways & it persists. Also the sound that does come out is very distorted. I've looked at the amp & speaker & they appear ok. Any thoughts?
